Everything went well so I booked my next three appointments with her. I had some unexpected guests show up for the holiday weekend and I debated cancelling this next appointment but she books out far and doesn't have great hours. So I showed up to my second appointment AFTER I confirmed two days before and received MULTIPLE reminders day-of. Doors are locked and lights were off. I waited around for 30 minutes and finally had to leave. Two hours later, I get a text that there was a family emergency and she would like to rebook and I haven't heard from her since. If my appointment couldn't be accommodated, I would have appreciated being told that upfront instead of waiting around for an answer that was apparently already decided. In the end, I wasted an hour of my time, left with no service, and ended up having to shave. Would recommend this place if you're looking for a unique way to spend an hour accomplishing absolutely nothing. Otherwise, I'd recommend saving yourself the trip.

When I spoke to the manager, Aliyah and Nikki (another waxer) came out of nowhere and were incredibly rude and dismissive. They insulted me and accused me of lying about my skin care routine. Ashley, the manager, was nice and did her best to damage control, she refunded my wax and returned my tip. Truthfully Aliyah did a terrible job and her attitude on top of it was unacceptable. I have been going to see Melissa for bikini and brow waxing for about two years. I first decided to make an appointment because of the stellar reviews and because her previous Kensington location was walking distance from my house. Although she has since moved, I would not think of going anywhere else at this point because Melissa really is the "bee's knees" (sorry, I had to). Melissa is professional, personable and fun to talk to, which makes the experience of someone peering up your downside far less awkward. She is also just very good at waxing: very little pain/redness and absolutely smooth. She checks in during the entire process to make sure that you are comfortable. I am not over-selling when I tell you that she has consistently given me the best waxes I have ever had. She will also make sure that the wax is aesthetically perfect: even on both sides, every stray hair gone and every rogue one put back in its place. She is meticulously clean and careful, which I appreciate immeasurably during COVID times. The prices are lower than or comparable to other Philly beauty studios that I've frequented. I should mention that I also always request "a la carte" additions to my waxes, so that they are somewhere in-between bikini/full Brazilians. In the spirit of avoiding the exhaustive pricing list many other salons utilize, Melissa has never once up-charged me for my hybrid bush-- and she definitely could. Again, the price was fair and her flexibility, responsiveness and availability (with this and my waxes) always impresses me and simply makes my life (and my attempts to beautify myself) easier.
