I've been going here for over 3 years now. I tried a Brazilian for the first time and was so surprised how it wasn't as bad as the stories I've heard of people getting Brazilian waxes. The sugaring method used only sticks to the hairs and not your skin so it doesn't irritate your skin as much. The girls there are so nice they'll seriously become your bffs in a minute. They have memberships for sugaring which is great so I can have my mini therapy sessions scheduled every month and leave there feeling amazing! I've been coming to Sugar Bar since January and Ashley is my go-to girl. For my first session in January, Angelica answered all of my questions as I was nervous since I haven't waxed in a few years due to the pain. I have a fairly low pain tolerance and I was so pleasantly surprised at how much less it hurts compared to wax. Since then I've been back 3 times and each time it gets easier. I love that the girls are always so friendly and personable and make conversation during the session- always makes it go faster. Sugar Bar Salon is a brand new, gorgeous salon in Rittenhouse. I went for a sugaring treatment on their opening day and was really impressed by the space and my service. There's a super cute wine bar and some really pretty spaces that will be perfect for hosting little parties in the future. The service room I was in was spotless, comfortable, and roomy enough for a tall girl like myself; that hasn't always been the case at other salons I have visited. Due to the Covid shutdowns, it had been a while since my last sugaring service and I was nervous. But my esthetician was an absolute pro and made the entire process as quick as possible. It wasn't without pain but I am optimistic that my next appointment will be even smoother. It's also worth noting that sugaring doesn't leave me with any residual pain which is great. Once my service was over I went about my day and that was that! Pricing is competitive with other popular salons in the city and Sugar Bar happens to be more convenient to my house than my previous salon, so it's a no brainer for me. Sugar Bar recently added facials to their service list! A local on-air personality posted an Instagram video of her facial and the second I saw it I KNEW I needed to get a facial there ASAP! I called to book my appointment and they were SO sweet and welcoming on the phone; even the morning of I called to ask if we can move my appointment an hour later and it was easily accommodated. Facials aren't "one size fits all." What I liked about getting my facial here is that the esthetician actually asks you your routine, your skin goals, if you're on medicine, have allergies, etc. I told her I have really dry skin so the facial was mostly focused around hydration and moisturizing. I also LOVE that they do extractions too; not going to lie it wasn't the most pleasant feeling but was much needed. I thought I had pretty nice skin, until she did some WORK on my blackheads! Lol. Technically the gua sha massage is an add-on but since it was my birthday the esthetician did it for free; so kind of her and felt AMAZING. That night when I did my night time skin care routine I could already feel the difference in my skin. My sister actually called ahead to pay for my facial + the tip since I was going for my birthday and she decided to book one for herself too! I will 100000% be back! And not to mention the salon is tastefully decorated. So cute, and the rooms are private and comfortable. P.S. I live in South Philly and decided to drive, there is a garage next door but was full. There is a lot across the street or you might get lucky and find street parking, you just have to pay on the kiosk. I totally could have taken the 17 bus as there is a stop around the corner but it was raining and I preferred to drive. Uber probably would have been more expensive than me driving myself due to the rainstorm. read more

I called for a quick sugaring session on a Sunday. They were quick to answer the phone and made me an appointment on the same day. The sugaring room was clean with a disposable cover on top. The person who did my sugaring was quick and thorough while keeping me engaged the whole time so I felt no pain. They also gave me tips on how to take care of my problem spots for ingrown hairs. I cannot say enough good things about Sugar Bar Salon but let me first start with the decor! Most wax places are cold, very sterile looking and overall unappealing. I'm in Philly temporarily from the West Coast where sugaring is the norm. I was nervous about finding a good sugaring salon and was not looking to go back to waxing again. I stumbled on their page on Yelp while frantically looking for a last minute appointment and happened to get the only appointment of the day and for weeks to come. They are booked!! Call weeks in advance if possible. The salon was spotless, upbeat music with a super cute wine bar. I had the rose which was really good but never got the time to enjoy it as my waxed scooped me right up! The entire sugaring process for a Brazilian took about 15-18 mins and Kia (sp) was a pro! She was super personable and I didn't feel any pain. They have a special where the first time Brazilian is $49 and the second time is half the price I think. Totally unexpected but such a good deal! Overall, a very cute place and I'll be back before I leave Philly! P.S: They opened their doors during COVID which means they must be doing many things right to be this booked. They use witch hazel and jojoba oil which I love and my Brazilian has never looked better.
