Messaged her to get an appt and since I'm an influencer I thought it could benefit us both to do a small collaboration. She said she could give me a discount for doing so and I was happy to accept but didn't expect it. After we discussed some date and times I mentioned that I was on the heavier side and wanted to discuss expectations with photos to promote her business. I said I wouldn't be comfortable with doing a bikini shot (like most of her clients do on her IG) but would still show the before and after in a different way. After I mentioned that part- she changed her tune and said "she'd let me know if something opens up" and ghosted me. Never heard from her again. Personally, it was shallow and rude and if you look at her IG page you can see she is only concerned with "thin" or "skinny" girls who fit a certain mold. I always love to promote body positivity esp since some heavier girls can be self conscious about a completely nude spray tan. But instead I was ignored. I was happy to take my business elsewhere and had the most amazing (and accepting) spray tan at sugar + bronzed. Go there instead, you will pay less and have a better experience. read more

Although my experience at The Bronzed Bee was the best ever, I hope that this does not appear on Facebook. I will be as euphemistic as possible in my praise for this establishment, because there are certain aspects of one's personal life that are just that--VERY personal! I will divulge that I did not get my eyelashes serviced or receive a spray tan at said Bee. Before the procedure, they ask you to complete a comprehensive questionnaire regarding medications you may be taking that could affect your reaction to the waxing. Wow! No one else does this; I commend them for their professionalism. I've been burned (literally) before at another facility (COUGH Blue Mercury COUGH) that prides itself on its aesthetic services, so I was slightly wary. Sarah is highly efficient, but she also made me feel completely at ease. We chatted about this and that as she did her magic. Before I knew it, 30 minutes had flown by, and I had time to take my dog to his vet conveniently located right next door. I plan to return in a timely manner when life becomes furrier than I (and my husband) would prefer. After loving their tanning services, I decided to try The Bronzed Bee's waxing services too. I got a brazilian and I would highly recommend it, even for a first-timer. The staff was so accommodating with a set of wipes and a towel to drape over yourself to get comfortable before it starts. Then you lay back, chat and watch TV and practically forget that you're being waxed. I really wanted to like this place more! The service was great. My spray tan technician was awesome, and they blend using brushes which is a nice touch. However, the tan did not seem as dark as I would usually get with two coats at other places. I also feel like the tan faded/washed away quicker than my previous tans at other places. Some good news: I have very sensitive skin and usually have reactions to spray tan -- no such reactions from their product! It also smelled clean and refreshing ( unlike the usually chemical smell of spray tan). read more

I lucked out with Hanna doing my wax, she was pleasant and kept me laughing during what can usually be an awkward meeting. Ladies, high-tail it over to the Bronzed Bee if you're in need of a wax because Ashley is definitely a professional when it comes to waxing your lady parts. I love the online booking system because it means I don't have to physically pick up my phone and call anyone. Some might call this lazy, I call it convenient. I booked a modest brazilian, which is basically a brazilian sans waxing your backside. I mean, no one looks back there anyway, right?! My experience was phenomenal and pain-free. Yes, I get waxed often, so I'm sort of immune to pain "down there," but this was honestly the most painless brazilian I've ever had. There is a TV in the waxing room and you get control of the remote, so if you're not a frequent waxer, watching HGTV or Cupcake Wars can potentially ease some of the pain. As for me, I just chatted with Ashley while she worked her magic and almost forgot I was being waxed! The Bronzed Bee has a frequent waxer deal, so if you keep up with your brazilians every 3 weeks or so, they're only $35, which is seriously a steal in this city. Just moved to the Graduate Hospital area and on my walk home last week realized that the Bronzed Bee was in my neighborhood! The girls fit me in yesterday for a half body spray tan (it's winter- tan legs are not that important right now!) for $20 and I am so thrilled with the result! The color is gorgeous, application is flawless-!the spray itself smells so good and is organic! Kara (I think I have the name right?! ) did a great job and nailed the color. Came here for the "busy bee" spray tan. Woman who did it (owner/manager?) was super nice and did a really good job- took the time to brush in my hands and feed and any other tricky areas. This option (most expensive) is where you can shower in 1-4 hours after the spray tan, depending on how dark you want to be. I showered just under 3 hours after and wish I waited just a touch longer. She told me with this one she can't control the darkness as With the others. But I looked just sun kissed enough. The smell was bearable, no better or worse than other spray tans I've gotten. The best part is how well it wears off. I had zero streaking or weird dark parts to begin with, but it's just nicely fading (lasts about 5 solid days) instead of coming off on weird places like the crook of your arm. All in all a great experience, I highly recommend! Though I think I may try the queen bee next time so I can be a little bit darker :) read more

I went to the Bronzed Bee for a Brazilian. I had tried a couple of other places in Philadelphia and had left feeling neutral about the service. My experience here was wonderful! I came in yesterday for a spur of the moment brow wax. Upon entering, I knew that this would be my new go-to place for waxing services. Not only was it impeccably clean, the décor reminded me of my own home. It was comfortable, quaint, and bright- three attributes that put me in a great mood from the moment I stepped inside. The staff was very friendly and welcoming, they were happy to accommodate me on such short notice. I filled out a waxing waiver (standard in many salons) that would advise my esthetician if I was taking medications or if I would possibly have a reaction to the wax. This put my mind at ease; little details like this shows a huge amount of professionalism. Ashley, the owner, took me back and did the brow wax herself. She surveyed the mess that was going on above my eyeballs and totally reshaped my brow. She didn't take too much hair off which is what I am always worried about. She managed to reshape my shapeless brow while keeping everything in tact. The price points here are VERY reasonable. They were just voted Best of Philly for Best Airbrushed Tan. Due to them being one of the best in the city, I thought that their services would be much more expensive than competitors. This place is definitely affordable; my brow wax set me back a measly $20- which was worth every penny. Ok, this is one of the rougher wax experiences I've had in my life. Everything about the visit was so nice, except that the person who waxed me seemed to have no training. I just had an excellent spray tanning experience here! After forgetting about how pale I was until the day before a wedding that I was in, I called The Bronze Bee hoping there was any way I could get in. I was able to get an appointment for the same day I called, even though I'm sure they were super busy with it being the day before New Year's Eve. My tan was flawless and super believable on my very fair skin. This was my first time being spray tanned by a person rather than a booth and they made sure that I was totally comfortable. I've recently moved to Philadelphia from NYC and have been yearning for a waxing place that is: 1. affordable 2. CLEAN 3. customer friendly.
