So, when it came time to get a photographer for our wedding, it was harder than I expected. Bottom line, they are not cheap. Aside from purchasing your venue and the rings, the next expensive vendor item would be the photographer. I found ES Creation through Wedding.com. I was looking for a photographer who was affordable but also produced beautiful pictures. They provided us a custom package. Please note this was a custom package which was quoted to me in September, which is subject to change. My package consisted of a FREE engagement photo shoot (90 minutes plus 8 digital photos at one location must be done before 12.31.15). Two photographers (one that covered 10 hours and the other 5 hours). Digital image with color correction on disk. Total value $2,000.00 We met with Simon and Tika and they showed us their portfolio and the pictures were beautiful. We knew right away they were the people for our special day. We originally discussed a $300 deposit. To my surprise when I received the contract before our meeting, we needed to put $650.00 down. Luckily we had that amount. We had our engagement photos taken on Baker Beach, SF on 12.11.15 and both Simon and Tika were there. They are super nice. They guided us through the process. How to pose and where to go. It was freezing that day and it was really nice of them to provide us hand warmers. My fiancé and I had a great time, regardless of the freezing cold and having no feeling in our feet. LOL. We received our engagement photos a month later. Our pictures turned out great. If you're looking for an affordable photographer, I would recommend ES creation. My only complaint about their services is I wasn't sure who I was talking to on the email. Sometimes it would be Simon and other times it would be Tika. My suggestion to them is they should have one person doing emails/phone conversations with the client. This will prevent less confusion. Mieke was very easy to get a hold of and discuss exactly what I wanted. We communicated mostly thru email to discuss what I wanted and budgeting and then I sent her a pinterest page of the style i liked. I was comforted that mine wasn't Mieke's first city hall wedding and she already knew her way around and directed us to all the beautiful spots she knew about...made it much easier and made me feel confident we got a good range of locations and poses. Also Mieke made me feel very comfortable, which was nice cause I don't really like having my picture taken...she made it very painless :) After the wedding Mieke also sent us some sneak-peek photos that got us really excited and was nice so i could send some around to friends/family. The rest of the photos came not long afterwards, both online and on a DVD. One thing I really liked about Mieke's photos also was that she made some black and white, which made them so cool looking. This was not only because I am incredibly picky, but I also don't love getting my picture taken. So, I put it off as long as I could. However, from the very beginning, Mieke put my mind at ease. She gave us excellent direction around what to consider before the shoot: the scenery, what we should/shouldn't wear and what vibe we wanted. Not only was the advice super helpful, but the day-of the shoot, she was very calming. She photographed us in such a natural way that it didn't feel forced, and the photos came out beautifully! We also had a blast with Mieke; she made us laugh and was extremely personable. After the engagement photos, Mieke checked in from time to time about the wedding, which was perfect, because I was a disorganized mess. She was super patient when I went back and forth on the wedding start time (trying to figure out how to get the most golden hour light) and was so helpful, telling me when the sun would set and helping me figure out how much time we'd have. It was such a relief to have her guidance. On the day of the wedding, we were, of course, behind schedule. Mieke was again so incredibly patient and calm. It helped keep the mood mellow. She went with the flow of the day, smiling the whole time. Her assistant photographer, David, was equally as calm and fun as Mieke. Having the two of them helped capture the wedding from so many different angles, as well as both parties getting ready. The end result was beautiful!
