Cozy spot with a great selection of beers. I tried the ginger beer and the west coast IPA, both were fantastic (only $8 a pint too!) I definitely recommend making a reservation. Since I arrived without one, we were placed at the back, despite tables remaining available at the front the entire evening. There is also a small terrasse in the summer, if you can get there early enough to snag a table!

For what it is HELM certainly deserves its five stars. Have been long ago since I visited the brew pub and overall we were hugely satisfied. Beers are yummy and diverse, something for everybody's taste. I'm inclined to rave about the Hutchie Frutti and Sour Pickles brews. My recommendation: get a flight of four to make your own choices. HELM has a full bar for people who have limited beer affiliations. We loved the food, my friends enjoyed their burgers, the poutine is prepared the right way, don't hesitate if you crave it and an extra bacon can be added to both dishes. Veggie lovers should ask for the salad menu and I loved my vegan choice. The only recommendation I have is to fix the benches in the front section of the pub, they are inclined and uncomfortable to sit on. We had to move to the back of the pub and sit at one of tall tables, which are much more convenient. Will be back soon and for sure again on Sunday late afternoon!

Remember, remember the 5th of November? Yeah, not us so much. We went to two different pub/bars in a row (second to be posted next week) and the first was simply wonderfully surprising. From the exquisitely cooked juicy, savoury burger with a perfect balance of ingredients to exceptionally microbrewed beer featuring creative recipes ; our experience at @helmmicrobrasserie was a very delightful one!

Helm has a smaller selection of beers but they are unique and can't miss! Atmosphere is cozy and the service is very friendly.

I feel a bit bad about this 3 stars thing, because it's a really nice place, it's cozy, the service was nice and welcoming, it's super clean, and the menu looks good. BUT the beers, well, as the 3stars review says, were ok. Just ok. So I haven't tried all of them, but I'll be back and maybe the other ones will get another star to the place, because I actually want to like it. I went there at 5, they were opening, so it was quiet and a good place to relax with a good beer, no idea how it gets at night and during the weekends.

Had a great evening at Helm! Great service and amazing food and beer. We got the fried pickles appetizer and they were the best fried pickles I've ever had. General vibe was very cool and staff was super chill.

Fantastic. My burger was decadent and the fries were amazing as well. I really liked the mayo they gave for the fries. So much good beer and so little time! I had the brown ale and the cream ale, both were great!

Where customer service goes to die. Hipster staff who could care less about patrons. Our table of four felt like we were an inconvenience.

Top notch microbrewery. A little far from the main city. Great staff. Great beers. Great burger. Awesome deals on drinks as well.

Since this was a microbrasserie, OF course we only ordered things on tap; I enjoyed the bitter, the ginger beer, and the Hefeweizen.

Even those with more casual interest in beer probably know that DDC makes really great drinks. And yep, they were excellent. I wasn't there to do a long session, so I got a couple tasters, one including Peche Mortal and the other a NEIPA. Two very different styles and both extremely well done. Beyond that, the space had a very old-fashioned look. Really nice wooden fixtures and a very warm, welcoming vibe. The server was also attentive and friendly, but also knew when to let people sit back and enjoy their drinks. You probably don't need me to tell you, but yes, you should go.

He expressed interest in hitting up some breweries, so I did some research and compiled a few we could potentially visit. Brasserie Dieu du Ciel was one of them, and it just so happened we were in its vicinity after our Mile End food tour concluded. That being said, we made our way over. While I am not a beer person myself, I'll have a round or two if I'm with a group, and can appreciate a good brewery. My first impression of Dieu du Ciel was just that - the vibes were on walking in. The space is pretty large - kinda separated into semi- compartmentalized spaces with tables throughout. There's not much decor, but medium-toned woods throughout which gave it a sort of upscale feel. They offer a food menu, but we were just here for drinks. They have a really wide selection of beer - again, I'm no connoisseur, but I could tell that the selection was way more than other breweries I've been to. I ended up getting a cider for the first round and a stout for my second round - both very good. Service was great, and overall we enjoyed our time at Dieu du Ciel. Their selection and comfortable setting made it a standout brewery for me out of the ones I've visited in Montreal - I wouldn't hesitate to return.

I have discovered something extremely important about Montreal:…read more There are pubs where I am allowed INSIDE. Brutopia is practically next door to our temporary Montreal headquarters, so I suspect I will be conducting extensive research here over the next two weeks. Our first visit happened on a rainy evening, which immediately demonstrated Brutopia's greatest feature: DOGS. ARE. ALLOWED. INSIDE. Finally, a country that respects my social calendar. Brutopia is much bigger than it first appears. Once inside, there are multiple rooms with different types of seating, giving it that cozy, rambling pub feeling where you could easily find your own little corner and settle in for the evening. But despite the rain, Mum and Dad decided we should investigate the upstairs outdoor patio. Excellent decision. It's a really cool space with a huge colorful mural, hanging plants and a slightly greenhouse-y feel. Add in the fact that they sometimes have live music, and I can already tell this is going to become one of our neighborhood hangouts. Mum ordered a Caesar salad with bacon. I would like everyone to focus on one particular word in that sentence. BACON. I positioned myself appropriately. I stared. I waited. I even wore a hoodie to dinner, so frankly I don't know what more was expected of me. Meanwhile, Mum and Dad enjoyed a couple of drinks while I relaxed and took in the scene. Brutopia isn't trying to be a fancy dog restaurant with pup menus and elaborate canine amenities. What makes it special is actually more useful: I can come inside with my humans. On a rainy day--or eventually a chilly Montreal evening--that is a HUGE win for anyone traveling with a dog. And since we're staying practically next door... I believe I have found my local. Dogba's verdict: 5 paws out of 5. Dogs allowed INSIDE: Rain ruining our plans: NOT TODAY Cool upstairs patio: Giant mural: excellent backdrop for important dogs Live music potential: noted Drinks for Mum & Dad: plentiful Bacon on Mum's Caesar salad: I saw it. Distance from temporary headquarters: dangerously convenient Would return. In fact, considering the location, there is a very strong possibility that I now work here.

We were originally over by the Jean-Talon Market, and since we were staying downtown we wanted to find somewhere on our way back. Brutopia fit the bill, so off we went. I really liked the vibes as soon as we entered - the place isn't too large, but still spacious enough to have two semi-split up rooms. We stayed in the front room that housed the bar, some tables, as well as a small stage where (I assume) live music plays. The decor had somewhat of a music theme, as one of the walls was covered in pictures of famous artists. We had a round - I'm not the biggest beer person but had a cider which was good. We also split a poutine - we opted for the popcorn chicken one which was tasty. Everyone was really friendly, and we were even talking it up with a fellow patron who was also from New York. Service was great, and although it was only a short stay, I had a good experience at Brutopia. I wouldn't hesitate to return next time I'm in the area.

Besides beer they have a few wines, scotch, bourbon and full bar as well as snacks, hot dogs and sandwiches. We ordered a bread and cheese snack which was a soft, brie like cheese and warm baguette. This was a very tasty snack. My SO got a spicy hotdog which he very much enjoyed. All the staff were friendly and the area clean.
