Our experience at Le Majestique was the highlight of the entire vacation. Upon walking into the venue, I immediately knew that we were in for a treat. The atmosphere cannot be beat by any other restaurant in Montreal. Customer service exceeded our expectations; our bartenfer Raf was friendly, personable, & intellectual. We were blessed to come in on a slower night to have time to converse with them, & Raf was kind enough to offer us recommedations for museums & more to enhance our stay. Best oysters ever! My dad had their duck risotto which was great but he wished the duck wasn't as blended in with the risotto. If it was a little less thoroughly combined it would've been a 10/10. I had their PIE oysters and I ended up ordering an additional 9! Their cosmos was good, nothing spectacular, but their non alcoholic sparkling lemonade was awesome! Regarding service I'd say it's okay. A little slow at taking orders and completing orders. Took me a while to get cocktail sauce. They could've been kinder but I think it's just a matter of which servers you talk to. Overall it was a great first dining experience in Montreal and one of my favorite overall. read more

Literally one of my favorite meals during my most recent trip. We were a walk in because we are so bad at making reservations ahead of time - desolee! So glad that staff was able to seat us at the bar because the restaurant was mostly full. It's got this like old pirate ship kind of feel - looks like repurposed wood, a lot of lamp lights and generally a good time. I'm pretty sure that their menu changes from season to season. While we were there, we got the oysters, the bourgots, THE 12 INCH HOTDOG, and a caramel-y pasta dish. I also got a glass of white. The food was FANTASTIC. I also saw someone order a whole boat of oysters and temporarily felt envy, to which my friend said there's literally 2 of us. No way we can eat a small boat's worth of oysters. Have been several times over the past several years, as well as to their sister restaurant, Bar Darling, which is also awesome and worth the visit. Menu is different, decor is related but also different. Limited but excellent menu - eclectic, carefully curated, and delicious. Open quite late, which is unfortunately uncommon these days. Before COVID, MANY places were open til midnight, and even two or three am. Now, choices after midnight are limited. Le Majestique should have 5 stars. Every single thing that we ate was amazing. The great thing is that plates are shareable and try as I might; I can't single out an item as being the best because they all were fantastic. You really can't go wrong. We had the Cornish hen meal, the welks (aka snails), the truffle gnocchi, the mackerel spread with house made croutons, and oysters that were 2.50 during happy hour. I was surprised at how delicious that mackerel spread was, we all really enjoyed it. The gnocchi was pillowy soft and full of flavor, and the welks didn't taste like escargot but rather like squid. It was our friends first time trying welks and she loved it. I know when you think of visiting a bistro while in Montreal the usual places that spring to mind are Le deux garmins or L'express but this should definitely be on your list as the food is amazing. If you want the same-o, same-o, then go to a same-o-, same-o place. And if you don't mind being reminded of the classic, 'From Dusk Till Dawn's bar (at least to me, this looked liked it), then come to Majestique in the Plateau Mont-Royal area if you're feeling an itch for kitsch on your night out- ways away from Old Montréal tourist spots. Majestique only rolls as walk-in- so if you want to pop in here for 8pm dinner and it's filled elbow-to-elbow, wait a bit. The host(ess) might suggest you go 'next door' to Urbanista (another restaurant) several doors down actually while you wait for your table here. Once here, you'll pass the heavy entrance curtain, escorted to your table then really take in the chock-full of 60s 'stuff' Majestique has all around their walls. Where was Majestique our first time we came to Montréal in '16??? Obviously, we didn't look hard enough plus we stayed mostly in Old Montréal during our first time. Service was incredibly nice here and so was the food. So nice to ventured out of Old Montréal. These folks specialize in serving something you've eaten 'traditionally' elsewhere in a completely different feel here. All of our small plates were interesting- but our Seafood Tower scored nicely. Instead of the common seafood tower, Majestique fills theirs with several types of seafood individually served and seasoned. Between the chunky diced salmon to the Clams, to scallops, oysters, etc- it was very tasty. So was the Pear+Maitake+Chèvre cheese opener. We were taken aback when we found out this place doesn't serve Escargots- instead, what's offered here are Bourgots that that have a conch-like texture. Good. Just different. If you want to get your kitsch fix with the locals, good food at an upbeat spot, why not here? read more

Very good overall. The only problem is between 4 and 5 PM. They only offer for dishes on the menu. The whole menu looks great, but we were not told that they have a limited menu at 4 o'clock when we came. That's why four instead of five stars. We had the beet salad, which was fresh and good. The oysters were small, but very good. Drumroll... The best dish was the mackerel salad, which was like tuna salad, but with mackerel. It had a little kick and was absolutely delicious. The greeter was very rude from the moment we walked in; we later overheard him mocking our order and the fact that we speak English. The service was pretty quick and the drinks were delightful. The portions are quite small for the price and you'll probably need to supplement with the house bread or fries. We opted for the latter. The menu has a variety of small dishes: oysters, chicken liver parfait, meat, vegetables. I believe the menu rotates over the season.
