Molten chocolate cake, pear tart, and caramel eclairs. So delicious!
Maryann K.

I love this place! I recently spent 9 days in Paris and visited 4 times. It was such a nice treat to buy a few gluten free sweet treats for the day and come back again in a few days. If you like eclairs, skip the traditional chocolate. The caramel eclair is absolutely divine. Even my husband who eats gluten was pleased with the gluten free version. My other favorite was the molten chocolate cake. So delicious! The pear cake was an honorable mention. Also, I bought their gluten free baguettes a few times. Gluten free bread will never be as delicious as regular, but they do a pretty good job. It does need some butter or jam to combat the dryness that gluten free breads tend to have. I was really thrilled to have baguettes to eat! Go early because they often sell out of the favorites by the end of the day. This is a can't miss bakery for those can't consume gluten.

This place is no longer in business... stopped by and the store front says for rent. So sad :(

Selection of pastries

OMG! All the pastries! All gluten free for me :-) Tried to visit Helmut Newcake last year but they were shut down from 1st Jan through to the 14th I think. Got here on 31st Dec - last day open before their holiday shutdown again so was lucky this time. This time I bought eclairs, Paris brest plus brioche for breakfast. I had already grabbed bread at Chambelland, not realising I could also get freshly baked bread here too. Brioche was lovely and a decent sized loaf which was also enjoyed by my non gf friend. The cakes are amazing - fabulous pastries and the eclairs are delicious. We tried two kinds - chocolate and caramel and the pastry was super light and airy. The Paris brest was also fab and we tried a rhubarb meringue with pastry base too. Everything was amazing! I'll totally be back on my next visit. Staff were friendly and helpful. I was around €24 for four cakes and the brioche (€7 each loaf). Might sound a bit steep as gf isn't cheap in Paris but it is totally worth it!

THIS is the place for gluten free baked goods in Paris. GF croissants, eclairs, and so much more. This is a GF paradise for anyone with a sweet tooth! They also have lunch items too.

Delicious tiered pastry filled with chocolate mouse!

Wonderful gluten free bakery! I went hoping to get a croissant, but they were out until Thursday the following week. Woah! I still enjoyed an amazing tiered puff pastry dessert filled with chocolate mouse. They had a variety of eclairs, cakes, and breads and were very friendly despite my ignorance of French. This place was really a high point of my trip to Paris. (Also, convenient location close-ish to the Louvre.)

I ended up getting an Asian style bowl with GF egg rolls, which was a great break from the other type of food we had been eating. The sauce was super flavorful, the meat was tender and the veggies were cooked perfectly. I also loved the egg rolls. They were nice and crispy and had a rice vinegar dipping sauce which tasted amazing. My friend and my husband each got a sweet crepe and a savory crepe. The crepes were also very good, but we all agreed the sweet one was the best. Definitely worth grabbing a bite here.

Biosphère Café is currently open on reduced opening hours, which is generally between 11:30 in the morning and 3:10 to 4 pm during the week. They're closed on weekends. The whole menu is gluten-free which really excited me, they do al-dente style pasta alongside pizzas and a Croque Madame, which was what I came in for having been eager to try a gluten-free version during my time in France. While the food is good value, I do think drinks are a little expensive and the selection of drinks also is a little poor, they seemed to mainly do standard soda and blended smoothie/juices, they didn't seem to have something simple like just orange juice or iced tea, I opted for a mix of what included cucumber, and I didn't enjoy it. It seemed to curdle very quickly and was an expensive disaster. The food, on the other hand, was a totally different story - my Croque Madame was one of the best single food items I've had in Paris, the bread held together very well and was naturally crusty and some of the best gluten-free bread I've had, this is someone who is exhausted most gluten-free bread as I generally find them dry, tasteless and disgusting, propped up by chewy seeds but here - none of that. Seedless bread is always a winner for me. The ham was also exceptional quality, the egg was almost cooked perfectly and I would have liked it ever so slightly runnier, the cheese was also good and I like how they didn't overfill it with cheese which again seems to be common. Some people think to overload toppings removes the taste and makes gluten-free bread edible, but the bread is so good here it doesn't need that. It's just quality on quality. I did, however, find the lettuce side a little odd and would have preferred some form of potatoes or fries, that being said the honey and mustard dipping sauce was pretty good too, it was obviously fresh. My crepe was okay, I would have liked more generous filling as the caramel sauce was hot but that didn't taste fresh or anything too exciting. I didn't like the cafe inside, I did find it really small even the kitchen area seemed small, tables were far close to each other and it could have done with some fresh paintwork. 3* - The Croque Madame alone knocks this rating up alongside the friendly and helpful staff, it was so good, it's a shame about most other parts of the experience weren't.

We were greeted quickly and brought breakfast menus (with English captions). The breakfast offerings were 20x the options of what every other cafe had and this was the only one open at 630am. We enjoyed the brunch for 11 euro each which is about half the cost of every other cafe. The food came out quickly, was fresh, hot, and delicious. My girlfriend said the baguette and croissant was the best she had all trip. I'd like to note that they have numerous dishes, not just omelettes like all other cafes. Selection here was great. Also I found the other cafes to take hours to seat you, serve you, and get you on your way. This one was fast and friendly and perfect if you are trying to get a fast start on an early day. You can easily get out of here for $10 each with coffee if you'd like :). This was easily a 5 star breakfast joint and I only wish we would have found it sooner to try lunch and dinner. For gluten free, be smart and just avoid bread and sauce. I had ham, eggs, cafe, and orange juice and it was as great as a breakfast I'd cook for myself back home. Tons of other menu options that are gluten free if you don't eat the bread it's served with :).

I was intrigued by the healthy vegetarian vibe. It's conveniently located near the Saint Lazare train station. This works a bit like a cafeteria or Pret-A-Manger. They have meal deals where you can get an entree, side and drink, or you can purchase items a la carte. I opted for a fresh cod bowl with a side lentil salad. If you don't like lentils, avoid this place. It seemed like almost everything had lentils in it! This could've been because we arrived late at night, right before closing, and there weren't a lot of options still available that late in the day. They have a microwave with reheating instructions so you'll get it perfect. Plenty of seating, and they sell wine and beer too. Credit cards are accepted and even if you don't speak French, you can figure out how everything works here. I mean, you see your food before you purchase it so that removes a bit of the language barrier. Clean with friendly employees and reasonable portions. A great place if you're a vegan or vegetarian, and even meat eaters looking for healthy options will like this. It's not worth a special trip to eat here (since Paris is the world's culinary capital after all), but even in this city everyday fast food is still a mini gourmet experience.

I had the Brittany scallops in a pesto and citrus dressing topped with parmigiana reggiano - absolutely amazing!
