The menu may be a bit confusing, but our server cleared up any questions. (a la carte vs prix fixe) We started with a complimentary terrine with gherkins and onions which were delicious. I had the Brittany scallops in a pesto and citrus dressing topped with parmigiana reggiano - absolutely amazing! We are foodies from Portland Oregon and were in search of great Parisian food. We found it at La Regulade, after an afternoon of fighting off humanity at the Louvre, (but did see the Mona Lisa) we made it to La Regalade. The ambiance of this restaurant was outstanding as we were warmly greeted when we entered and the restaurant is housed in an historic building about 400m from the Louvre. Only two tables were occupied by Americans which was a good sign. We ordered the tartare, foie gras, Octopus salad, duck and pork belly, all of which were delightfully prepared and tasted very good. We ordered Palova and the Soufflé for desert (both highly recommended). They had a very extensive wine list but we opted for the Charles Heidstick Brut Reserve by the glass which was very good. I won't go into detail about each dish, but the main course, the pork belly, was cooked perfectly--so tasty and beautifully braised. This is the only place I dined at twice during my 2 week business trip in Paris. 38€ for starter and main (or main and dessert). The first experience with several colleagues, i ordered the foie gras special starter with hints of cacao and pimento and then the sirloin (supplemental 10€). I have only had foie a couple of times, many years ago... I wasn't planning on having foie on this trip, but it was incredible, especially with the cacao accents. The portion was too big for me to finish. Sirloin was excellent. Service was fabulous, loved the modern ambience. My friend and I came to Le Régalade on the recommendation of a local friend and it did not disappoint! This was quite simply the most amazing meal I had this year. The service, ambiance, and food were nothing short of superb. We were greeted and sat straight away by Mona, who proceeded to go over each menu in English with us. She provided us with her personal favorites, which we ordered to share as a group of 4. The timing between each course was excellent as we had enough time to digest between starters and mains as well as mains and dessert. The portions of the starters to us seemed larger than the mains but we did not complain because they were excellent! We stumbled upon this place right before they opened so we were lucky enough to grab seats. We were very pleasantly surprised by our meal as we enjoyed it very much. The food, service, and atmosphere were all great and I would definitely come back! They have a set menu with a lot of great options. For starters, we ordered the snails (de shelled in a pesto sauce), squid ink risotto (lots of good flavor and texture with squid pieces on top), and tuna tataki (again, great flavors and textures). They were all spectacular! For mains, we ordered the pork belly, cod, and scorpion fish. The cod was good, very tender, and the pork belly had good flavor! So very sorry I missed leaving a review from our 2019 visit to Paris. The visit to your restaurant, as well as the staff, made one of the best memories of our trip. We think often of the fabulous evening and meal we shared. The staff was over the top accommodating to the American couple who misread the website and didn't make a reservation- we GLADLY accepted sitting at the bar. Another amazing meal in Paris! My wife and I dined at La Regalade thanks to a recommendation from a friend and are so glad that we did. Situated on a quaint Parisian street, this restaurants serves up gourmet French cuisine, a cozy atmosphere, and top-notch service for a terrific price (in English or French.... in fact, I think there were more English speakers than French locals when we dined her). One of the things I love about La Regalade is that the menu is prix fixe, which allowed us to sample multiple courses for one great price. The staff even went above and beyond to provide multiple complimentary sides, including unlimited fresh bread, a whole jar of pickles soaked in a leek sauce (amazing taste if you love the sourness of pickles and the bitter-sweet taste of leeks), and pork patty. Regarding that last item, I must say it was incredibly unique. The pork patty looks like a meatloaf (see pic for reference) but is served chilled (that's right, chilled). It has the flavor of sweet pork (that's right, pork with added sweetness) and the consistency of gefilte fish... worth trying for free but not something I'd order an entire meal's worth. By the time we received our entrees, we were already starting to get full from the complimentary starters (and feeling good from the wine). Still, the flavors kept us wanting more. For my entree, I ordered the creamy risotto with squid ink, prawns, parsley-garlic and cured ham. My wife ordered the escargot. Both looked beautiful and tasted even better! For the plat, I ordered the chicken (stuffed with foie gras, seasonal vegetables and beetroot hummus) and my wife ordered the roasted lamb (with veggies and ras-el-hanout juice). Again, the presentation for both was stunning, and the flavors were incredible. I especially loved the beetroot hummus paired with the veggies and chicken, a unique combination of flavors that blended perfectly to create a delicious taste. For dessert, I satisfied my sweet tooth with the Venezuelan chocolate truffle served in an orange marmalade - so good! My wife ordered the cheese dessert plate, perfect for those who love salty/savory desserts. Its really 3.5 star but since i am not allowed to give half star i will just round it up to 4 because the food is very good, but my overall experience was just ok. I was really looking forward to come to this restaurant, i made reservation 3 weeks earlier and was already having difficulty to get the days that i wanted. Finally i was able to get the 7pm spot. We arrived at 7pm after a long day of exploring paris and the restaurant was completely empy, then the manager came and said they are not open yet and told us to come back in 10 mins... Fine, i tried not to get upset even though their door was open and our reservation was for 7pm so how could they not let us in. We walked around and went back at 7:15, still we were the only table there, i think parisians eat late normally.. Finally other tables started to arrive, they gave us this really tasty chicken and liver pate, but did not give us small plate to put our bread on so we had to put the bread on the table. then i notice our pate were already served cut up and on a small plate while other tables seems like theirs still in the baking dish... That was strange... Also other tables were given small plate, i was upset at this point.. Then came the food... Squid ink risoto, sauteed mixed mushroom, duck with fois gra and fig, omg flavor explosion!!!! I totally forgot about the bad service at this point! Overall, really really good food but inconsistent service and i notice some tables got better service then others, so i guess you will need some luck when you go there. Sunday they only serve a buffet. We had a massive lunch that ended late and then we had dinner reservations at 7. Just too much food. The buffet was scrumptious and centered around seafood. Salmon and avocado poke. Seared ahi tuna. Farmer pate. Perfectly al dented green beans. Summer sausage. It was a charcuterie on steroids. The chicken entree was perfectly roasted and served with creamy potatoes. We had too much of the buffet and had to pack an entree. The desserts were expansive. Fresh fruit galore baked, jammed, cut up. I had chocolate mousse from a large terrine that I could have easily eaten the entire terrine. I came here about six years ago, and thought it was about time I returned ;-). My bf and I had 8pm reservations, and I highly recommend making a reservation. They have set menus for 41€ which is absolutely delightful. I had squid ink risotto, roasted lamb shoulder, and the souffle with a side of grand marnier. My boyfriend had a poached egg starter, lamb shank, and the same for dessert. We each had a glass of wine- we asked for a recommendation and tried a but before committing to the glass. Hands-down the best meal we had during our three days in Paris. My husband and I wanted one final meal in Paris at a nicer restaurant walkable to our hotel- after some research we found La Régalade and tried our luck showing up immediately at opening to ask if we could dine without a reservation- good luck for us, they were able to seat us. From the very beginning of the meal we were treated to complementary pâté, special pickles and bread. A delightful older gentleman came to explain the daily specials en français and then to take our order. We stumbled a little with comprehension but we kept attempting to use some French and he was very accommodating. To start my husband had the squid ham risotto which was out of this world. So good you have no choice but to close your eyes with the first bite and be transported into heaven. I had the ceviche which was charming and complex. For mains my husband had the lamb and I had beef in wine sauce. I was given a knife for the beef but it was so tender I barely needed it. It was accentuated with greens and crispy pieces I couldn't identify that elevated the dish from great to fantastic. For dessert I had to order the soufflé because of all the pictures I saw in other reviews. It was light, sweet, and the flavor of grand marnier was a lovely accent. My husband had the cheese plate with two contrasting cheeses - at first he was somewhat disappointed at only receiving two cheeses but when you try them you understand why- both were so full bodied and different that any more would overwhelm the palette. As a complement after the meal we were served two madeleines - a sweet surprise. Thank you so much for a wonderful experience and accommodating two hopeful walk-ins on their honeymoon. This was our first "real meal" in Paris so while the recollection of their French names are a bit hazy, the tastes, textures and flavors are firmly imprinted in my mind! Bread Service - Served with cornichons and pate I'm not certain where they procure their baguette from (I heard it MAY be Gosselin though not THE Gosselin on Boulevard Saint-Germain); but, while the texture was damn near perfect, the flavor though, seemed ever-so-slightly off; think traces of dirty water-- off-putting but edible. The pate was also a big disappointment (I was really looking forward to it)-- dried out (as though it were reheated a few too many times) and more than a little gamey. But the one saving grace to the bread service were the cornichons! They were piquant and kept the palate dancing with sweet/savory/tangy combination. Whew. Butternut Squash Soup The second finest soup based on a gourd I've ever had (Robuchon's Pumpkin Soup still king). It was served with a poached organic egg and crispy Jamon Serrano. It was gorgeous; rich, creamy, complex but never heavy or over bearing. Okay..now we're getting serious. Sauteed Shrimp & Squid Ink Risotto Wow! Every single component was immaculately cooked. The shrimp was tender, the roasted garlic WANTED to overpower the dish but never did, and the risotto was textbook perfect (creamy, nutty, al dente but not undercooked). The dish was so delicate, especially considering all the bold flavors involved (another appearence by the venerable crispy jamon serrano here too), but it all harmonized in euphony. Pork Belly Merely a good dish. Not spectacular. The pork belly was not entirely tender and the skin was more chewy than crispy. The flavors were nice but the execution of this dish was a bit amateur. Braised Beef This dish was excellent. The meat (don't recall which cut) fell apart when the fork was taken to it and the deep, rich sauce (OMG that sauce!!) paired perfectly. Rounded out with caramelized pearl onions, crispy onions and root veggies it can best be described as Stick-To-Your-Ribs With Finesse. Loved this dish. Warm Grand Marnier Souffle There is something beautiful, almost Zen, about the proper execution of a classic. Ladies and gentlemen this is the paragon of souffles. The grand marnier flavor was, thankfully, not too assertive and the texture was..well..it was like eating a warm cloud. Rice Pudding I was raised in Miami. I have had better rice pudding. In fact, when I tasted just the rice pudding, I wondered what all the noise was about. "Really?" I thought to myself. "THIS is what they're raving about?" When I poured the caramel sauce over the rice..it all made sense. The caramel sauce makes this dish! The rice pudding itself is good. The rice is a little al dente (not over cooked), but still very creamy. When the caramel is poured over it, though, I can see why the commotion. Next time I'm in Paris I will most certainly stop in again. I implore you to do the same. read more

The best "bang for the buck" we found in Paris. Full review in blog. The first item to arrive at our table was the complimentary loaf pan containing the night's "terrine du porc, veau, et canard" with a jar of cornichons and freshly sliced baguette. Instructed to "enjoy as much as you like" I'm rather certain that our server did not expect two diners of our size "enjoy" the whole thing, but with slice after slice full of meaty flavor and heavy aromatics including onion, pepper, garlic, coriander, paprika, and more it was hard to stop. While the entirety of the composition was not quite as complex or smooth as that at L'Ami Jean, the more charred top layer was absolutely fantastic and when paired with the warm baguette and semi-sweet cornichons it was a great start. Our 33Eu three-course journey would begin perhaps twenty-five minues after seating with "Gambas sautees ail et persil, jambon d'Espagne, risotto cremeux a l'encre de seiche" for my sister. Served in a large both of impressive depth and vastly larger than one would expect for an entrée the base of this dish was an intense creamy risotto tinged with squid ink yet still maintaining its nutty essence topped with an admixture of chopped prawns sautéed in garlic and parsley and crisp cracklins' of Spainish ham. Certainly more "Pan-European" than strictly French the quality of the risotto itself was one of the best I've ever tasted and while the garlic prawns may have been just a bit "too garlic" for my tastes they certainly did not obscure the flavor profile of the other ingredients. For my entrée the day's selection would be one of my favorite foods in one of my favorite styles of presentation-"Oeuf de poule bio facon cocotte, epinard, pointes d'asperges et tomates confites." Delivered in a jar and popped open tableside with the warning that it was very hot, this bubbly soup of poached organic egg in "casserole" was the very picture of early spring. With the smooth and creamy egg plus sautéed spinach forming the backdrop of flavors and crisp snappy asparagus speckling the each spoonful, the most interesting component of this dish was actually the duck fat confit tomatoes - intensely sweet and slightly leathery in texture providing juxtaposition to the otherwise vegetal and subdued flavor profile. With entrees cleared the plats would arrive quickly on their heels as the steady stream of plates from such a small kitchen was a sight to behold. For my sister's selection, "Filet de dorade dries sauvage a la plancha, legumes fins et croquants a l'huile d'olive, emulsion a la coriander et au gingembre" featured an imposing fillet of slightly over-cooked grilled sea bream that none the less flaked apart nicely and had a great flavor. Topped with bitter greens and resting on a bed of pine nuts and snappy vegetables including tomatoes, peppers, asparagus, and zucchini poached in olive oil the dish was finished with an aromatic sauce of coriander and ginger that although tasty was also slightly overwhelming of the fish. Although "Margret de canard epais roti sur la peau, petites pommes de terres roties au jus de viande" was perhaps the most straight forward item on the menu it was also very well done. Yet another sizeable portion with the honey lacquered skin fatty and supple and the flesh pink and moist the flavor of the duck was quite good while the roasted fingerling potatoes intermingled with fibrous mushrooms in beefy gravy were a nice savory contrast. For dessert, just when you thought my soufflé fix would have been satisfied, Le Regalade offered a version of their own entitled "Souffle chaud au Grand Marnier." For the third time following the assumption that if a little is good a lot is better, this towering soufflé arrived tall and teetering, a mountain of white topped with a snowfall of confectioners' sugar. Simple, sweet, steaming hot, and punchy with notes of cognac and orange it was a classic done well and compared to previous experiences with Gran Marnier soufflés it was understated-a good thing for someone who doesn't fancy too boozy a preparation. Furthering her newfound love of Rice Pudding that began at L'Ami Jean, Erika's dessert selection arrived in a latched jar and although I cannot be certain my gestalt is that pound for pound the portion may have actually trumped even that served to us by Jego. Titled "Riz cuit au lait et a la vanilla comme le faisait ma grand-mere, caramel laitier," and served with a liquid salty caramel so buttery that it put those at Jacques Genin to shame, the pudding itself was thick, toothsome, rich, and heavily accented with vanilla. Again with the wooden spoon working slowly it was once again to our waitress' surprise when she arrived later to find the jar empty and both of us smiling in a near comatose state. To be completely honest I can't say whether the pudding at Jean or Regalade was better - but I'd gladly do a blind taste test again if only to have another chance to taste both once more. read more

In short, the food at La Régalade Saint-Honoré is pretty bangin'. For dinner, they offer a €35 three-course prix fixe menu. Given the high quality of the food and fairly generous portion sizes, the dinner here was the best bang-for-your-buck meal I had in Paris. To start off, the waitress dropped off a complimentary pork, veal, and duck terrine, accompanied by cornichons and sliced baguette. My hunger, combined with the fact that the fatty, porky terrine was just so delicious, propelled me to polishing off nearly half of the terrine before my first course had even arrived. My first course, "Gambas sautées ail et persil, jambon d'Espagne, risotto crémeux à l'encre de seiche," was essentially a garlicky squid ink risotto topped with shrimp and Spanish ham. I'm not one to shy away from garlic, so I really enjoyed the intense garlic flavor permeating this dish. The risotto was perfectly creamy as well. I knew I had to order duck at least once while I was in Paris, so for my second course, I went with the "Margret de canard épais rôti sur la peau, petites pommes de terres rôties au jus de viande." The duck, cooked to medium-rare perfection, was extremely tender and juicy, but the skin wasn't as crisp as I would have liked. The bed of roasted potatoes and mushrooms were really good, too. Descriptive, I know. And for dessert, I opted for the "Soufflé chaud au Grand Marnier." Arriving at the table as a towering mountain dusted with powdered sugar, the piping hot soufflé was delightfully light and not at all too sweet. I haven't had very many soufflés in my life, but this was what I would expect a perfect soufflé to be. Complimentary madeleines, golden brown and buttery, were the perfect end to a great meal. All in all, La Régalade Saint-Honoré's three-course prix fixe menu offers a tremendous value. We discovered this gem by lucky accident several years ago, back when it was known as La Pascade. We were a bit concerned when we saw the name had changed to La Régalade, but happily it is still essentially the same place we came to love. We've enjoyed a number of lovely meals here, and our latest visit was no exception. Our travel plans made it impossible to make a reservation on the day we arrived in Paris, but we decided to try anyway. Steph graciously managed to squeeze us in, and we proceeded to enjoy another outstanding dinner (definitely make reservations if possible!). Thoughtful service, experience and good energy in this lovely restaurant. From the homemade pate and pickled onions and cornichons with great bread to the great wine recommendation to the menu, it was all so good. I ordered the special-- monkfish-- for an upcharge which was well worth it. It was perfectly cooked and paired with the most amazing mushrooms and potatoes. I would say 4.5 stars because we had a reservation and literally was the first customer arrived, but still, we got seated in the back on a shared long table. Other than that, service was good, food was fantastic. Bread with the rillette spread for starter, snail the appetizer, pork belly for main, and baba au rhum (Rum cake) for dessert. The rillette spread was shockingly good. Something I never expected and not on menu. Gives you tasty but not overwhelmingly oily feeling when the fat melts in your mouth. Snail had a good texture with decent spinach based pesto sauce. Pork belly was cooked very carefully and glazed at surface. Especially the skin (or just the top) was fried like crispy bacon to give you chunky chewing texture while providing a little bit of sweet charcoal smell. Baba au Rhum had fantastic passion fruit sauce. Souffle on the other hand, wasn't what we expected. It had strong alcohol flavor and not much sweetness. Duck fillet was something behind my imagination. It's duck, but it tasted better than most of the steaks I ever had. Overall it's highly recommended. Make sure you have reservation because the place was filled within 15 minutes or less after open. Not sure if they all had reservation or not. After the whole set, 39 euros is not that expensive. For its quality, I can see it survives at nyc for over $70. read more

The best restaurant in Paris (for the money). OK, you can probably dine better at Taillevent (or similar) if you're willing to take out a second mortgage. Or you can come to La Regalade (we dined here twice in one week) and enjoy delectable fare including squid ink risotto with truffles, pork belly and a classic souffle with Grand Marnier. When we visited the original (less centrally located) La Regalade years ago, I do believe they were more generous with the complimentary pate that every table gets as a starter. At that time, I think you would get a plate and you would be able to slice off some from the loaf of pate and keep it on the table to nibble throughout the meal. Alas, no there is no plate. So just wolf down what you can while you've got the opportunity. Pile that pate onto the toast they provide. Because once the appetizers come, the pate will be whisked off the table forever. (Or at least until your next visit.) On the other hand, it's probably good that there's a limit on the pate. With unlimited pate, you might be prone to stuff yourself dangerously full. The pate limit is therefore a blessing in disguise - letting you enjoy the subsequent three courses to the utmost with your appetite not overwhelmed, but rather pleasantly sated. read more

I trust Yelp reviews more than I trust my mother (sorry, Mum) so the fact this currently has a 4.5-star review said a lot to me, and it didn't disappoint. This is easily the best dining experience I've had in Paris. I was so excited that I was able to walk into the restaurant just before 5pm and book a table for that evening (Wednesday). There is a fixed price menu, but don't let that mislead you. Basically it locks you into three courses but there's a lot of variety in the courses. We had a party of three and we all had very different things, and the specials menu added something different to the experience. Ordinarily I'd talk about the food here, but there's no point. All three in our party had very different things for our three courses and all of us loved them. The restaurant isn't big which is perfect true personal service. We didn't feel neglected. As English speakers (primarily) the staff were excellent at explaining the dishes. I can't fault the experience so I'm going to shut up now. read more
