Located in the heart of Saratoga Springs, New York, the Roosevelt Baths have been a sanctuary for…read morehealing and rejuvenation for years. The Experience: As soon as I checked in, I was asked to choose an aromatherapy option for my bath. After changing, I waited in a calm relaxation room with tea and snacks until my name was called. The atmosphere was peaceful, setting the tone for the experience. The bath itself was deeply relaxing. One thing that surprised me was how deep the tub was--I wasn't expecting that. I remember wondering if the minerals would make the bath feel different, like maybe there would be some tingling, but it felt like a regular bath. The ambiance of the bathhouse was serene, with soothing music and dim lighting that really enhanced the relaxation. I've even shared my experience on YouTube, you can check out my full experience and get a feel for the vibes here: https://youtu.be/rZRi-EZA5zw It was interesting to learn that, back in the day, a bath here cost just $1.25, whereas now it's around $64. It's a bit expensive for a bath, so I'd say it's great for a one-time experience. However, I think the staff could do a better job of educating customers about the benefits of the mineral water--what it does and why it works--so we can actually understand the impact it has. It would be even better if they shared testimonials from long-term clients about how it's improved their lives. Pro Tips: 1. Enter the park through the Avenue of the Pines to avoid the $10 parking fee. 2. Check out the nearby creek--it's a gorgeous spot! Last time I visited, I set up a surprise picnic for our anniversary there. You can ask the staff at the front desk about it. For me, it's exciting to know the history behind Roosevelt Baths and to experience something that people in the past believed would heal their bodies and that once provided a natural luxury experience to everyday New Yorkers.

The single star is only for the mani/pedi I got. First, I called and asked if they had gel polish…read moreand they said yes. Once in the salon, I picked out my color and waited. I was the only client, but the for some reason the tech sat 10 feet away from me and made me wait for ~10m before she came over to start my service. While waiting, I could take in the overall grunginess of the salon. I did not expect this at the Roosevelt, which is old but has charm and is usually clean. The floor linoleum was old and in need of replacement, or at least a deep cleaning. The pedicure was slipshod. My feet soaked in the lukewarm whirlpool for about 10m, then she took my feet out for the "massage", This consisted if her rubbing some lotion only on the front of my lower legs. Very disappointing. The manicure was borng as she made no attempt to make any sort of pleasant chit-chat, even when I did. I found out halfway through that they did not use gel polish, and both my mani and pedi had peeled off in a week. The whole thing cost me $120. It would have cost me $80 - with gel and much better service - in my hometown of Cambridge, MA. It's a good thing I downgraded from the deluxe mani/pedi, which would've set me back $145.

I checked around to see who I could go to for a massage and called Adirondack Salt Cave for availability. They scheduled me with Hendrick and I added cupping as an add-on. Walking in, the room is dimly lit with salt lamps on the floor so you can rest your feet on them while you wait. There's jewelry, salt lamps, cherapy warming wraps (warmies made from cherry pits) and a few other things for sale, and the ladies at the front desk were so sweet and welcoming. The massage: Hendrick was very professional, attentive and took the time to listen to my concerns and to also explain to me in depth detail about how the massage would be done. I got a Swedish massage with cupping integrated in said massage and all I can say is my body feels less tight, relaxed and my upper back can breathe more easily than before. Thank you for giving my body and mind a huge reset. Will absolutely be returning!

This place is amazing! I got lucky and scored a couples massage on short notice due to a…read morecancellation. I haven't had a massage in almost 3 years, so I'm a complete disaster. Thankfully, the therapist that I had was extraordinary - Christine. Since my knots have knots currently, she certainly had her work cut out for her. The couples massage takes place in the salt cave. What a lovely, zen space! I kinda want to move in.... I left there feeling relaxed and rejuvenated. Christine warned me that I would be sore and to drink a lot of water. I was definitely sore - but a really good sore. I drank lots of water and clean iced herbal tea for the rest of the day. I feel fabulous today and I plan to book another massage within a reasonable amount of time to try and avoid getting into the physical mess that I'm in! FYI - they're still following covid protocols - which I personally think is great. Once in the salt cave, masks can be removed (but the therapists do keep them on currently). The front door stays locked, so call ahead to book appointments or to shop for anything relating to Himalayan salt products. I'll definitely be back!
