Now, any business that wants that much upfront just to schedule the appointment makes me wonder if they are more concerned with profits than patients. In my years of making dental appointments, I have never heard of this. This was a red flag for me. Some of the pros: they work quickly and they are willing to listen if you do your homework in advance. The office is clean and there are nice play spaces for kids. They also specialize in children and give sugar free suckers to help with anxiety.

I asked them to send my insurance company an estimate so I can at least have a more accurate estimate of what I will be paying - it's been 4 business days and they have sent nothing. They were pressuring me to schedule another $2k in root canal work immediately after completing $5k in implant work, and I mean immediately. The implant wasn't in my mouth for more than a few minutes before I was being asked to sign and schedule new treatment plans. I decided to get a second opinion given their track record, and come to find out I didn't need the root canals at all. Two 20yr old composite fillings had failed and simply needed to be replaced, which cost me no more than $300 out of pocket to fix. I spent years in pain during several botched implant procedures because I couldn't juggle thousands of dollars for multiple treatment plans, when it could have easily been resolved for a fraction of the cost. There is absolutely no excuse for upselling procedures that don't need to be done. I'm appalled to have been treated that way after what I had already been through. I do not recommend this place to anyone.

I end up missing half of the return calls because by that time I am doing something else or away from my phone. Normally it takes 4 calls to make an appointment, and then I have only been able to make even a virtual appointment for no sooner than 3 weeks. Carle has a go-to defensive attitude. Yesterday I tried the Carle $20 online instant e-appointment, during an emergency allergic reaction regarding a medication prescribed by my doctor, the nurse or secretary who eventually called me for the appointment immediately started arguing about whether they are charging people (they are). As typical with Carle the receptionist pool/nurse decided that whatever I said must not be true: that (because I am 68) I must be having a heart attack and told me to go to the ER. I declined to go to the ER for a heart attack, and asked her to stick to the topic of my allergic reaction to the medicine. Hours later I got a sort of sarcastic call back from her reading me what the doctor wrote. It all reminded me of that game "Chinese Whispers," where you never actually talk to the doctor -- your symptoms and the doctor's advice get filtered and altered through a series of intermediary secretary/nurses who ultimately try every way possible to pass the buck, and this results in very poor quality, and certainly unreliable, medical service. Carle also does not want anyone to transfer records from other hospitals. They just want to re-do everything with their own specialists, which take months to get appointments to see. I tried to send records from Maryland from very good specialists I saw there within the last 6 months and Carle was not interested in processing their own paperwork to receive the records. Carle just seems completely overwhelmed, stretched way too thin, and is totally understaffed. Carle presently represents itself as a lot of big shiny new buildings, but Carle is NOT functioning in any smooth or coordinated manner. Good luck if you choose Carle. Please think about having a back-up plan.

There were none of the normal staff when I walked in. The hygienist who did not introduce herself looked in my mouth and told me I had too much crowding on the right side so she would be skipping that area. She then went to check my gums and aggressively stabbed each of them and made them bleed(my gums haven't bled for at least 2 years since doing treatments). She then did what she called a cleaning/polishing/flossing while commenting the entire time about my wisdom tooth and baby tooth that she couldn't believe I still had. The dentist then came in and barely looked at my teeth. My entire appointment was less than 30 minutes. The hygienist told me $18 charge, went to desk and the secretary first told me $126 and then changed it to $73. I paid the $73 and when I got to my car and looked in the mirror I had blood splattered on my eyebrow and a large splatter on my chin. My gums were red and pooled with blood. I will never go back to Creative Smiles and DO NOT Recommend them to anyone!!

Instead, he works quickly using positive reinforcement to get the job done. His philosophy for baby teeth is to try a filling first before costlier treatments. He did an amazing job putting in a filling for our very anxious squirmy child. He's patient and kind and helps work through anxiety rather than mask it with sedation. He has amazing hygienists who are pros at dealing with uncooperative kids. We were very pleased with our experience and will be back.
