I visited the Helmet Modern Dentistry today. Toni @the front desk, who is the Office Manager was welcoming and receptive. Her directions were concise, yet was open to my request to increase the font of the Medical History and Consent Forms required for patients to fill in whilst checking in for our appointments. I was then called by Dr Manerva Hart, who promptly took me to her Consultation Room. It was cozy. We discussed my dental concerns and Dr Hart showed the empathy a woman of my years and dental issues needed. All the dental technicians were quick to answer questions, take x-rays, photographs and Panasonic x-ray. This office is teched out. Brand new equipment and smells fresh and clean. My extraction was painless. Dr Hart talked me through everything. I cannot recommend Helmet Modern Dentistry enough. My blood pressure spiked during examination, which they all rallied to address. With all the anxiety I entered the Dental office with, this had to be the "gentlest experience" I have ever had at a Dental practice. read more

Careful with who checks your insurance! Had a BAD experience with 'laura' she overcharged me!!! I'm guessing she doesn't like her job!!!

Was told I would need 2 deep cleanings at a cost of $500 each because my gums are showing I needed it. And that with time my root canal/ crown would fail and need to be extracted. So I started looking into implant quotes. I went to a dentist office that does implants. He gave me a quote on an implant because I asked for that and said regular cleaning. I asked him excuse me did you say regular cleaning and explained what this office told me. He said I only needed a regular cleaning not a deep cleaning. From there I made the office and insurance switch to a new dentist. I got a REGULAR cleaning and was told I did not need an implant only a new crown. Get a second opinion if you do take good care of your teeth. read more

Since moving to Hemet from Chino Hills I didn't want the drive to go back which is 1 1/2 hours each way. So I went here and wow what a ripoff. After X-rays they said I needed to have my crown taken off for a cavity then put a new crown on plus they said I needed a laser cleaning. $6500 but we will discount it to $2800. So I did the long drive in traffic back to my old dentist. They did X-rays and a normal cleaning for $375. I think I may complain to the BBB. I would give them a minus star I could. read more

First time visiting this office. Very nice staff, updated equipment and offers a wide range of services. However, a deep scale teeth cleaning cost me $400. They claimed that my insurance only covered the x-rays and exam. However, after talking with my insurance company afterward, my coverage includes 2 teeth cleanings per year at $5 each. I have submitted a complaint to the insurance company to have them investigate the charges. That said, the X-Ray technician and Hygienist were very professional and took extra care to insure my comfort. The dentist was thorough and answered questions to my satisfaction. All charges were reviewed with me before any additional services were rendered and respectfully made adjustments that I felt were needed to keep costs to a minimum. This office is pricey and depending on your coverage, you may end up paying much more than expected. Before leaving, I had scheduled another appointment. When I got home, I received an email indicating that a second appointment had also been scheduled. There was no indication for what the appoint was for and no discussion with me beforehand regarding the need or to determine if the date/time was good for me. I view this as highly unprofessional. Dr. Patel helped me with all my dental concerns and problems. I have been coming here since 2019 and the staff is incredibly friendly. By now it feels like family and my husband also started going to them. Pamela, Ashley and eveyone that has helped me has done so in such a respectful way. My elderly mom went to this dentist, and I can't overstate how much you need to avoid this dentist. On her first visit, they kept her there for 5 hours. By the end of her cleaning, she was so exhausted that when presented with a plan - and authorization to charge her credit card more than $5,400 - she was so worn down, she agreed. What dentist charges people massive amounts of money for work that hasn't been done? The only one I know of is Hemet Modern Dentistry. The very next day my husband and I accompanied her to the dentist to discuss the treatment plan - and to request that they reverse the charges for any work not yet completed. (We agreed that she should pay for the cleaning, x-rays, and for an expensive electric toothbrush they sold her.) They assured us that they would reverse the charges. That was more than 5 weeks ago, and in spite of follow up calls, and the assurance that the refund has been processed, the full amount is still showing on her credit card. In other business dealings I've had, any refunds are processed within 3-5 business days, so 5 weeks is completely unacceptable. Something tells me they have no plans to honor their word regarding the refund. Thankfully, we called the bank and they are reversing the charges. Here is my recommendation to you: if you haven't been to this dentist, RUN AWAY as fast as you can. If by chance you've been there and ended up with credit card charges for work that they haven't done, call your bank and request a chargeback. Had an appointment for a cleaning and then they proceeded to make me wait over an hour and a half till I could see the dentist, had x-rays, everything was fine, had no pain, and just wanted a CLEANING. The payment coordinator comes over after making me wait another 30 minutes, and the outrageous price she quotes me is 1000$! Mind you, I have no cavities, x-rays are all good, and I have no pain whatsoever. I tell her to take off all off the bullshit add on Laser treatment and weird new cleaning fads they add to price gouge you. I FINALLY get the price down to 110 for just the CLEANING, "what i asked for in the first place" I sign for it, and she goes back to talk to the dentist. She makes me wait ANOTHER 20 MIMUTES and says the dentist won't let me just get the cleaning because it "wouldn't be beneficial to me" they REFUSED to give me a cleaning. This place is a scam!! The dentist does work like a 5 year old! Literally run as fast as you can to ANYONE else. My husband and I both went there and Dr. Hart talked us into get veneers for my husband. I initially told her no because I've heard that they fall out and you constantly have to get them replaced. Her exact words were "Oh no, not mine. I make veneers strong as crowns." So with that assurance we agreed and came up with a game plan to make his teeth shorter and give him the "movie star look." When the teeth were delivered they looked the same as his previous teeth. Same length and not much whiter. We were disappointed and even more disappointed when they fell out the next day. He went back, had one replaced and then it fell out again a month later. They replaced that one and then again they ALL fell out. He was tired of this circus ride from Doctor Hart and needed a break from going back and forth so he didn't go back until now when he started to feel pain. He was informed that they will not honor replacing any of them because it has been a year but we are still liable for the $5000. So she expects him to pay $5000 a year for her teeth from Tijuana that she applies with super glue. Ridiculous! This Doctor has no moral code of conduct, does shotty work, and ruined my husbands teeth for the rest of his life!! He would have been better off just keeping his regular teeth. Now on to me. I received a filling on my front tooth. Dr. Hart attached the filing to its neighboring tooth. I look ridiculous, like I have a unitooth (one large tooth much like a unibrow). My complaints went ignored. Also she put in a bridge that has now fallen out within less time of a year. Of course you guessed it Doctor hart claims she is not responsible. I had a Root canal done today by referral the Endodontist did not remove the temporary crown over the three teeth and only one needed a root canal I went home and it 530 the crown disintegrated in my mouth when I tried to call they kept hanging up on me they promised they would call back and they never did they tell you that they have emergency services but they don't. read more

A few months ago I went in for a toothache and after taking X-rays, the dentist told me the tooth was rotten and beyond repair. The dentist said I would need to have it pulled and an implant put in. Got a second opinion. The dentist showed me the X-rays and you could see a small dark spot where a cavity was. She filled it in about half an hour and everything was fine. I would NEVER recommend this dental office to anyone, especially older people. I was pressured into having two back teeth pulled when there was absolutely nothing wrong with them. I had not had any problems with those two teeth, but was told that I MIGHT have problems in the future and no insurance would pay for more than one partial denture every FIVE years. I later discovered that this was NOT TRUE!!! I had a very traumatic experience when one of my front teeth broke off. So I went to Hemet Modern Dentistry and saw Shalin Patel, dentist. I was in no state of mind to make important decisions because of the trauma of losing a front tooth. Dr. Patel took advantage of this and pressured me into having 3 teeth pulled instead of just the front tooth. He never explained that I should NEVER pull teeth that weren't causing problems. I feel the only reason he pressured me into doing something that has been very detrimental to my overall health, he was so focused on charging me as much as possible. He knew that getting a partial denture for one tooth only would be far less expensive than getting a partial denture for three teeth. He didn't seem to care at all how this would affect my life. Avoid this dentist's office. My 89-year-old mother-in-law had recently lost her dentist of several years due to his retirement. She had broken a molar and needed a new dentist, so she decided to give Modern Dentistry a try. She went in for 1pm appointment arriving early to fill out new patient paperwork. They kept her there until well past 6pm doing a deep cleaning and prescribed thousands of dollars of work that they believed she needed. She was exhausted from having been in a dentist's chair for so many hours and agreed to pay her co-pay for the prescribed work upfront. It came to over $5000. I had never heard of a dentist charging upfront for work that would take probably a year to complete, so I went back to the office with her the next day. We met with the dentist and she showed us the x-rays and explained why she thought the work needed to be done. We didn't want my mother-in-law not to have dental work that she needed, but the dentist insisted it couldn't be put off. When we asked about the upfront payment, they said if we didn't want to pay for it all now, they would issue a refund for everything except the work they had already performed. We were told it would take 10 business days to process the refund so we waited for two weeks. When we didn't receive the refund, we went again and inquired about it. The billing officer explained that there had been a miscommunication and said she had processed the refund right then and we should wait another two weeks. After another two weeks, she had still not received the refund and was making payments on her credit card balance because they were coming due already. I called the credit card and explained that we couldn't get the refund issued and asked the credit card to reverse the charges. The bank issued a refund for the full amount and three days later the office finally issued a partial refund. I have called the dentist's office and explained the situation. The receptionist said I would need to speak with the office manager and she would have her call me. As I am writing this, they haven't returned my call and it has still not been resolved. This is the most unprofessional service I think I have ever received. Again I caution, avoid this dentist's office. read more

I would have to agree with the folks who gave this office a one star rating. I do my best from refraining from these 'Karen" post but; they all have valid points. Everything at this office is price gouged. I dread coming in because I know that theirs always something 'extra' that's needed and for some odd reason my insurance never covers it. The few times I've gone in it's the same song and dance, they bring me in take x-rays, send me to the chair the dentist comes in whether it's Hart or Patel, check my mouth point out all the issues I have and from there they walk out and send one of the girls from the office to tell me how much it's going to be and to be honest the pricing is fucking ridiculous. Everything that's offered is always outside of what's covered from the insurance and it seems that they sell you urgency. I honestly have found the same work with other dentist in Orange County, San Diego, and Tijuana at a considerable fraction of the price. (Tijuana being the most aggressive in pricing). It sucks that it has to come to this but it just seems that these offices are in it to gouge the patient for anything and everything resulting in either not getting work done for the fear of the cost or travelling farther out to different cities or countries. I'll give the office credit where credit is due the office is nice, clean, well kept, and modern but that's pretty much it, thank you for coming to my ted talk, lol. read more

Terrible experience, no wonder this company has such a low rating. I went here for a severe pain I was occasionally having with a specific tooth when I would eat chewy food (I 100% knew the exact tooth that was causing the pain). On the first visit the dentist misdiagnosed the tooth that caused the pain because she couldn't recreate the exact pain which I told them only happens I eat chewy food (she never even asked me point to the tooth that was causing the pain, she erroneously assumed that I didn't know which tooth was causing the pain.) and she prepped the wrong tooth for a crown. Before the crown being placed I asked the manager whether or not I will get a refund if the crown caused pain and had to be removed, well that is exactly what happened and she didn't give me the refund. Now that wrong tooth also needs to be extracted since it is already prepped for a crown because of the dentist's misdiagnosis and I have to pay the unnecessary crown in addition to the wrong tooth extraction. read more

I HAD A TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE with Dr. Hart. I went to her because I had a crown fall off right before Christmas. She did nothing about the tooth and it was cutting my tongue. She didn't even offer to put the crown back on. She convinced me that I had an abcess under my 2 bottom front teeth and that they had to come out immediately. Instead of 2 teeth she pulled 4 and made a temporary bridge. They charge me 6000.00 and didn't do anything for the tooth I went to them for. Now they don't want to release my dental records to me.
