As a healthy patient with lab readings all in the normal range, I didn't really find the need to go see him other than those yearly visits. All the other months I wasn't seeing him I still paid the $60 monthly fee which amounted to $720 a year for one annual physical and bloodwork. It wasn't really cost effective. Direct primary care sounds good in theory. But having a pay per month membership fee (as opposed to a patient paying only for the services that are used) makes it a costly proposition for those who are in good health. I was basically subsidizing the cost of the people who were more regular visitors, which is the same idea as insurance (albeit with a benefit of less paperwork and bureaucracy). With the few times I did visit Dr. Hawkes the office was friendly and professional. But I found that the practice wasn't a good fit for me. Not everything he was communicating to me was accurate to my situation and I disagreed with some of his views. I would totally recommend him though for a patient who needs help treating diabetes, heart issues or any other common conditions (that don't require a specialist). If a person needs guidance from a physician in losing weight, he is the ideal person to go see.

Mom & dad are in excellent health so we only scheduled the appointment to meet their new Humana PCP, who I feel comfortable w/ for them. The receptionist's were all very kind & helpful. Unfortunately, the EKG machine wouldn't work which made dad a little annoyed lol & he couldn't wait to leave! We left a little before 4pm so I guess that's to be expected sometimes. Besides those two things, mom's happy w/ Dr. Wagner & being that dad is a disabled Vietnam Veteran he will also meet his PCP there. Also the Nurse used to work at the new VA. Good to know. Overall, after our first experience, I do recommend Dr. Wagner. Mom says he seems opened, not pushy, or trying to change any medication & listened. He showed he cared by asking us about Iowa also. They called and said they could see me in 3 to 4 weeks gof follow up on their first office opening but yet I can come and get a mammogram tomorrow??????? They are working on a SEVERELY low IQ level. All my records are open to the public and anybody could look at them if they want. Theyve botched up four separate times and thid one was really bad. it's being taken care of by Southwest Medical properly not by Ace ( acehole ) primary..... ... do not pick this office for your primary... be safe....
