Yes, I had to pay half of my fine and traffic school is in my future, but this visit didn't suck up five hours of my day.

I had paid for the renewal, just hadn't received the stickers yet in the mail. I received the stickers before my court date and went to court this morning. Although there is a parking structure, I was able to find parking on the street. I went into the court and asked which room I was to go to. The officer that directed me was nice & helpful. Once I got to the correct court room the lady that was checking us in (not sure if she was a bailiff or deputy?) gave me all the info I needed. She asked if I had proof of my registration with no lapse. I did. She said the judge will dismiss my ticket. When the judge entered, he went through everyone pretty quickly. Since my last name begins with "S" I was towards the end of the roster. It didn't take long though, it was all of about 20 minutes before they got to me. He called me up and was really friendly and he asked about my registration and I told him, actually that lady that had checked us all in told him my situation and he looked at me and smiled and said, "Great, you are dismissed. Good day, Miss." And that was it. While I can't say I want to return, I'll say that the employees here all were very friendly and professional and made this experience quick and painless!

I brought copies of my travel contract & explained to the judge that I do 13 week contracts @ a time & it wouldn't make sense for me to change my license & plates for every state that I work in. So he lowered the fine & I paid it that day. It was dumb & I probably should have fought it more but I didn't. I had to go another time to prove that I had car insurance when I was pulled over once as I didn't have a current insurance card on me. That was an easy process. I've been for jury duty before which was a drag.....it's such a long day. When I did jury duty a few yrs ago they had a cafeteria area that I think had Capriotti's, there's a coffee shop right outside the courthouse. They have vending machines too. You will have to go thru security/metal detector upon arrival to the court house so NO weapons are allowed, you have to remove you belt, take things out of your pocket but ya don't need to take off your shoes...think airport security but NO TSA...lol There is a information desk after you pass thru security that can help direct you to where you need to go. This place is BIG with lots of floors. There is elevators, escalators & stairs. I was recently here as I was subpoenaed to court after my house was broken into & robbed. My neighbor had to go too because he went into her house after my house. We had to be there @ 10am but he wasn't seen @ 10am. We had to sit thru other cases so plan on being there for a couple of hours especially if your case isn't called right away and then the judge took a break & he was gone for @ least 45 minutes. What a wasted day as neither one of us needed to go up to speak, we did meet with the DA briefly & I gotta see the criminal in person & he looked much different in real life then on camera. If you're subpoenaed you can go down to the Victim's office & get paid $25 for the day & get reimbursed for mileage. Also if you park in the Fremont Street Parking garage (I believe that's the one) you will get reimbursed for parking but it is a little bit of a walk to the courthouse from there. Bring your parking ticket with you so it can get validated. There are plenty of bathrooms located throughout the court house. And guys "WEAR COURT APPROPRIATE CLOTHING" if you don't know what that is then Google it. It is not jeans, sneakers, sweatshirts, short skirts, shirts with your breasts hanging out, etc. I swear there were so many people in the courtroom I was recently in who were dressed inappropriately & there was one girl who was dressed like a prostitute. Make a good impression & be respectful of the judge & lawyers PLEASE. Oh & the views from some of the floors are amazing!! Good luck!

Everyone in the waiting area talking loud or watching feed on their phones with the speaker on. And the two women at Reception act like they are there against their will. Every single time. The location is easy to find, right on Martin Luther King Blvd, and there's even a beautiful statue of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. out front. Overall, this court feels pretty laid-back and straightforward, which makes the whole experience a lot less overwhelming.

After careful review of the Revised Nevada Code of Judicial Conduct, I feel that Justice Sullivan violated several of the canons. I appeared in court on my court date, dressed in professional business attire, and demonstrated nothing but the utmost respect before this judge, but I was greeted with the complete opposite. Justice Sullivan greeted every defendant as they stepped up to the front during their turn, except me. I was the only one professionally dressed, but, this judge took one look at me and proceeded to be rude, for no reason at all. When the charges were read to me and I was asked to state a plea, I simply asked if stating guilty would affect my driving record. My case was due to a minor accident. Judge Sullivan snapped back at me with a snarky and sarcastic response, "I don't know! Do I look like the DMV to you?!" I simply wanted as many facts before pleading anything. Should I not be allowed to ask questions? And, shouldn't the judge be informed of details such as these? Judge Sullivan then told me that I would need to pay a 150 dollar fine, and then in another sarcastic tone, she said, "Oh don't worry, I'll give you plenty of time to pay." As if to imply I could not afford to pay. Was there something about my appearance that indicated I was unable to afford a 150 dollar fine? I almost took out two hundred dollars from my wallet then and there to throw in front of her, and tell her to keep the change, but I maintained my professionalism and composure. I am a respectful, educated citizen, and veteran, and to be shown such rudeness and disrespect was uncalled for. Speaking of being a veteran, when asked by Judge Sullivan if I am a veteran, I answered yes. She then asked what branch I served in, in which I responded with the Navy. Apparently, in her mind, she thought serving in the Navy was a joke. She scoffed at that and appeared to almost laugh. Her, being unaware that I served alongside the Marines and had deployed to Afghanistan in combat environments. So, for her to devalue my service when she knew nothing about it was incredibly disrespectful. I regret very much that I did not come forward with this complaint sooner, this experience has affected me deeply. My therapist told me I should start standing up to bullies, and Judge Sullivan is a bully. I filed a complaint with the court but it was dismissed and nothing was done. This Judge should be made aware of how unprofessional she is. I am a highly educated and law abiding citizen and her treatment of me goes to show how ignorant these individuals who are supposed to serve the community really are. So individuals who have to interact with Sullivan and others like her, BE WARE

Just a few years ago, I had a civil matter I had to take care of with some other roommate Tennant's of mine on the verge of conviction. They even have change machines incase you Don't have enough quarters. Of course you never know what your in for when you get there so how much do you put in? You go see how much you owe they give you your options then if you don't like that they tell you to go down stairs to see the judge. There was a older man letting people in the court room everyone else sits in the hall. The judge don't want to hear any excuses just gives your options. Well the ticket was $198 ended up being $298 if you don't want points or go to traffic school. Years ago you just said you wanted to go fight the ticket and if the cop didn't show you got out of it. Now the judge tells you if you go to court and lose your ticket could be a lot higher. I guess what it boils down to is obey all signs or come to this place that no one likes! They get you for parking and the tickets! And wasted 1 hour and 20 min left on the meter because we didn't want another ticket! Lol
