I utilized their study room, available for 2 hours on busy days, longer is accepted when no one is waiting. The library is two stories, equipped with beautiful views of lake mahopac. Plenty of seating and computers for use. If you are interested in standardized testing material, they have most all your needs ( GMAT, GRE, SAT)

Any resident with a library card from a count library can access the holdings of any county library. I tend to be a bit claustrophobic; therefore, the cramped quarters of this library did not help me enjoy a relaxing browse of it's holdings. I must confess that it's audio book collection looked a little more robust than I would expect for a small library like this one, but it's holdings were hard to systematically browse with a difficult to understand layout and order. The staff looked busy and probably did not have time to notice that I looked lost. My bias toward open spaces probably plays a little into a low rating. If cramped quarters does not bother you, you might want to consider giving this library three stars instead of two.

There are some nice folks that are willing to help but there are definitely some unfriendly folks. For example, multiple times, I have wandered into the back section (have not approached the reference desk) and the person at the reference desk has snapped at me "what do you need." It's happened multiple times and at first I thought I was in a restricted section and that was the cause of the unfriendly reception. There are also some front desk people that are not friendly. I will say Miss Anne and Miss Judy(?) as well as some of the ladies in the children section have made this location redeemable. I try to time my visits for when they are there. Otherwise I will go to Dobbs Ferry as that is also a nice library and is a bit more welcoming.

With the high ceilings and big windows it creates a really relaxing vibe. Lots of computers if you need one and heaps of magazines to browse. Upstairs they also have rooms you can reserve for group study or work and downstairs a little cafe. I thin they could improve on that area, offering some more variety, maybe some small sandwiches. Wished they opened earlier than 9 but that might be standard library hours

Today I was visiting different libraries as part of a personal project, and unfortunately, I had an…read moreuncomfortable experience with one of the librarians. From the moment I arrived and greeted her with a polite "good morning," I noticed a distant attitude; she didn't respond to my greeting, and when I later asked for the Wi-Fi password, she gave me a disapproving look. I found a quiet spot where no one was around, put on my headphones, and joined a virtual meeting, speaking in a moderate tone to avoid disturbing anyone. About 15 minutes later, the librarian approached me and abruptly asked me to leave, stating that the library was not a place for calls. While I understand and respect that rule, the way she communicated it came across as unnecessarily arrogant and unkind. It's not just about enforcing rules--it's also about how those rules are communicated. A more respectful approach would have made a big difference.

BEWARE…read more October 3, 2019 time between 3-4 PM I came to the library today because my sister needed to finish her job application. As we went into the computer room it was a full house with all the computers in use except for three. We decided to use the two computer up front. As we are using the computer after an hour the librarian comes up to us and says we have to leave because we were on the computer the longest. As we turned around and looked the exact same people who were on the computers prior to us coming ( all non colored) were still there. We told the librarian its impossible for us to be on the computer the longest when at least 6 of the original people were still on the computer . She could care less about what we were saying and started logging my sister off the computer in a rush. She was really rude and could care less that my sister needed to finish. I asked to speak with the supervisor and she took me to Mr. Kevin a tall friendly fellow who actually listened and proceeded to walk me up stairs to resolve the issue. MR. Kevin was nice, friendly, professional and kind and tried to resolve the issue. 5 stars for Mr Kevin 0 stars for the mean librarian
