They responded to all of my emails with the questions I had very quickly. The cabin sits off the side of their house w/ a porch looking out towards the farm. The inside of the cabin has two open bed rooms that are adjoining w/sliding doors that open up to a closet area between the two. While the cabin doesn't have central a/c there is a machine that works as an a/c, a heater, and a dehumidifier. We visited during the summer and this kept the cabin cool. The main room has a couch/trundle bed so you can sleep an extra 2 guests, as well as a dining table (plates, cups, utensils and some cookware available to use). I suggest bringing what you need as far as cooking utensils go, however Jennifer helped us get whatever we needed that we didn't bring. There is a sink, a microwave and a full size fridge, and while there isn't an oven/stove there is a griddle in the cabin that worked very well for us and a grill outside available to use. There were towels and rags for us in the bathroom which was nice since that's just one less thing we had to tote along with us. There is a great one person, jacuzzi tub that I called dibs on as soon as I got there. Very relaxing. Outside there is also a fire pit with bench seating, great for s'mores or telling scary ghost stories. Do yourself a favor and opt in for the hands on farm experience! Gather eggs, milk a goat and/or sheep, help feed the animals and get to meet them one on one, Alpacas, pigs, miniature horses, donkeys, chickens, ducks, goats, sheep! Not only is is fun but interesting. You'll learn all kinds of info about each and running a farm. We also got farm fresh duck and chicken eggs that we made for breakfast in the morning, YUMMY! We're hoping to come back for their fall festival if we're still in the area. Thanks again for hosting us, we are so appreciative of everything you guys did to make sure we had a wonderful experience.

Back in 2018, the collection was moved to the Indiana World War Monument (431 N Meridian) to provide more display space and to do repair work under the Soldiers and Sailors Monument. As of the time of this review, the collection has been moved for over a year and my thoughts are part of the review listed on that location. According to the staff working in the Soldiers and Sailors gift shop (located on the south side of the monument at the top of the steps), something new will occupy the space under the monument once repairs have been completed. This is a FREE MUSEUM, so that alone bumped up the stars to at least four. Add in the fact that the museum is Indiana-centric, in the basement of the Soldiers and Sailors Monument, is dark and super creepy, has really cool artifacts including a chunk of tree trunk with a cannon ball stuck in it that soldiers cut from Gettysburg and brought back here, how could I not give it five stars?!?! - It's free, but don't be a jerk - donate a couple bucks. - You won't need much time. If you only skim the exhibits, you will be out in five minutes. Read every card and you might be there an hour. - Did I mention, please donate to this lovely free museum? - Read the medical treatment cards and be so grateful we live in a time of modern medicine. - Can't figure out where to get in? The entry area had plenty of room for the crowd of 100+ plus food tables, a bar with drinks, and a merchandise table. The private parking lot is also a plus. It is held at the county fairgrounds, so I recommend boots if it rains and the ground is muddy. Check the website well in advance for classes; they do sell out. I signed up for a dye class using various woods for dye. The instructor was great, and we made some lovely samples. After the class, I checked out the outside vendors (including several yarn trucks - like food trucks, but yarn), and observed a bit of shearing. Then I went inside where the majority of the vendors were. SO MANY THINGS. Fibers of all kinds, yarn, spinning wheels, knit/crochet kits, dyes, looms, accessories, findings, yarn bowls, fiber mills, fiber-themed mugs - you name it, it was probably there. I picked up several yarns, some indigo dye, and a ceramic yarn bowl. One thing to be prepared for, and my only dissatisfaction, is that cellular connection there is weak. I only had $3 cash on me, and some of the vendors had trouble using their card readers, since they require the internet. I was going to buy a pile of some deeply discounted sock yarn, but could not purchase with card. There were also only a couple food vendors, and the one I chose only took cash. Review the class schedule, go to the ATM, make a fiber wish-list, and check it out!

Just step inside this art gallery that looks like someone's home, and you'll find an exhibit to experience. This art gallery is located next to The Tube Factory and the CAMi (Contemporary Art Museum of Indianapolis), which is owned and operated by Big Car Collective. This space also serves as a home for visiting artists, which is pretty neat. The exhibit in this gallery was very small, but it was nice to be in a contained area to experience it as a complete whole. After you're done looking at the art at the Guichelaar Gallery, you can bop around to the rest of the campus and check out the other artistic expressions awaiting you.

The engagement in the arts is available to all regardless of socioeconomic status, race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, age, religion, or disability. The Center also houses ArtMix, an Indianapolis-based nonprofit, transforming the lives of people with disabilities through the creation of art. ArtMix sells cute ice cream bowls in the back of the Center right next to Brics ice creams so you can help support the organization and eat some delicious ice cream. The Festival showcases artists all across the city and state. The event is free and open to the public. We had a wonderful time exploring all of the available art booths, food trucks, watching live music from local musicians, going on the Karaoke elevator, chilling on the rooftop lounge, and meeting new people. My family tries to make an effort of going to the Festival every year and we highly recommend others to visit as well.

The building was originally the town's library that was funded by a grant from Andrew Carnegie. A modern library was built across the street and the Carnegie building became a museum. The museum is free, however they had a donation box. The layout is a little meandering, but one of the staff described the activities and exhibits. Downstairs there were several interesting activities for kids that involved simple physics and biology. She loved making music with balloons. There were other activities that she enjoyed such as making a political button. Through out the museum are local artifacts that are interesting (such as an early telephone operator's machine). There was interesting information about famous people that came from Montgomery County. Upstairs was a macabre exhibit about death rituals. There were some empty spaces in the museum and they seemed to be in transition. There is a small gift shop to help support the museum. Our visit was good. My granddaughter had some fun learning and engaging in the activities. I learned some things. The staff is friendly.

Like most small population counties, funding for saving historical items is a challenge. So, I…read moredon't hold them to the same standards for presentation and prominence as I would a larger metropolitan location. So, when I visited the Montgomery County museum, I kept in mind how it compared with other county museums like Owen County in Spencer, or Johnson County in Franklin. And so my rating, as an outsider, is for an A-OK rating. The entrance is on the ground level and as you wind your way through the exhibits, you may find a large emphasis on having the displays being kid friendly or at least, kid focused. There are some antiques and some memorials to relatively famous people from Montgomery County. Through a back stairwell, the museum has a more spacious area on the second floor. There is a room with larger display items like a telephone switchboard, a doctor's buggy, a sign from a local business, and a piano owned by a prominent local family, the Elstons. But beyond that, there is a lot of open space that seems underutilized. Maybe they have activities that require more open space, but for visitors at other times, it seems like it could be put to better use. There is a small gift shop on the lower floor and a parking lot alongside the building since street parking is pretty limited in the area. I'm guessing the appeal to locals would warrant a higher rating, but without anything to separate this collection from many others around the state, it only has limited appeal. Perhaps if there weren't several other museums/homes down the street, there would be more to display here of the county's history. Review #1389
