I had a piano moved by Hendrickson's and paid for tuning as well. The piano move went fine, but they never completed the tuning which was supposed to be done at the same time. After multiple attempts to connect with Clyde--nothing. Don't work with this business. So unprofessional and frankly, unethical. I expect more from a long-standing business like this, but based on some of the other reviews here, I probably should have known better. read more

I usually go to Ingram's music for instrument rentals but wondered if I can have a better experience here. And I did! Clide was professional and thorough. He offered me a variety of selections of the same instrument at different prices and I appreciated that. The price for a violin rental was cheaper than I thought it would be because I paid $65 a month for a trumpet at Ingram's and the violin is 15 a month at Hendrickson's. Good place for a variety of selections and professional ( and friendly) service. Highly recommend. read more

I bought a violin for $1300 for my wife's Birthday (I was told it's worth $1500 by Mrs Hendrickson). I took the violin to an expert and he appraised it at just over $200. I took it back to to Hendricksons and politely told them my findings and was wondering if there had been some sort of mistake on the sale (giving them the benifit of the doubt). The gentlemen behind the counter (manager/owner) immediately went into a fighting stance and started yelling at me with the store full of customers. Growing up in Turlock, if you wanted a musical instrument you got it at this place. Family owned and family run, they knew how to service my little hometown's desire to create sounds to soothe the savage beast..or really really piss your parents off. I would always look longingly in the window and pray that one day my dad would buy me an electric guitar so I could rock out with my cock out to all the rad classic and contemporary rock music that pumped from central valley radio. When I finally built up the courage to ask my dad for a guitar he killed all my hopes by proclaiming that I would become the best mariachi guitarist in the valley. The prospect of putting on the psuedo bull fighting tights and giant bedazzled sombrero not being such a hot idea to me I quickly thought of some other musical instrument that I could enjoy playing. It was the time of year to sign up for music classes at Julien Elementary and every year I would watch in envy as all the other kids had their fancy music cases that contained shiny brass objects with them. I hated them with a passion. I thought and thought, then...THE SAXAPHONE! Yes dad I want to play the saxaphone! So we went to Hendrickson's to get me a saxaphone to start tooting away at. Then they informed my dad of how much it would cost to buy one...and then how much it would cost to rent one... Then they did the worst thing possible, they made a suggestion that my dad couldn't resist. They informed him that THE FLUTE was the cheapest wind instrument that he could rent for me. The fucking flute. I tried and tried to play that goddam flute for about two weeks but would pass out during practice at school, so the flute went back and my dad now had an extra few bucks a month in his pocket. /luis m's music career read more

Do not rent anything from this place. I rented an instrument for my son. Filled out all the paperwork for an auto payment never was set up tried to resolve after 4 months spoke with a woman over the phone who reassurred me it would start deducting never did. Returned it after 11 months the guy was rude interupted me while I was talking not once but twice absolutely rude will never go there again. Not friendly no customer service skills what so ever. Poorly managed. This place is a mess. If i could rate a zero i would!!!! read more

I tried to buy a guitar here. I was looking for a specific guitar. The guitar website listed Hendrickson's and Guitar Center in Modesto as being authorized dealers. I would much rather give my business to a family owned and operated business than a big box corporate store. So I called and inquired if they had the particular guitar in stock and was told that they didn't have it in the store, but did have a more expensive model of the same brand in stock. I was told that they could order the one I was looking for, if I came into the store. So a couple of days later I go down to order and the only employee is an older woman who tells me to write down my name, number and the guitar I want and someone would call me. She told me that she can't order it, but someone else could. No one ever called me. About a week later, I was in Modesto and went in to the Guitar Center and tried out the guitar I wanted and ended up buying it there. It's a great guitar. I just wished I had better service from Hendrickson's. read more

I was in the shop with my friend today. He started jamming with a younger employee for about five or ten minutes, then the employee said "this is not a library, it's a music store, so go ahead and play. I can get cables if you guys wanna plug in" and went back to work. After about ten-fifteen minutes of playing a few guitars, an older gentleman walked up and said "Okay, jam session is over, we have phone calls to make and other business to take care of. Are you buying anything?" We said no, and he asked us to leave the store. I feel that if we were causing problems, that was not the way to deal with it at all and he has lost all my business. I was there yesterday,twice. In the morning one owner told me to return later to look for a repair part for an older guitar that I was repairing. He said his brother was better at finding that stuff than he was. So I returned and had the brother invite me behind the counter to dig for the part myself because, as he said," I'm not gonna DIG for you" I was happy to dig for it myself actaully. BUT THEN this jerk starts to tell me,"I have the parts you're looking for but I'm not gonna give em to you today. No, I feel like being a prick today and you're not gonna get em" Then the rest of the employees had to defend him by telling me, " sorry sir, he's an asshole and drives away a lot of business". This store is the worst store anywhere. They know nothing about instruments, aside from having to deal with owners who curse their customers. BTW, the Martin guitar they have for sale is $2300 overpriced. In great condition it MAY be worth @ $2400. But theirs has a nasty crack in the back and needs a neck reset. But these idiots don't know anything about their merchandise and don't care about their customers. WORST MUSIC STORE IN THE WORLD! Turlock will be a better place once these meth addicted owners finally die and the rest of their offspring shrivel away to the trailer park where they where undoubtably conceived. read more
