Surgery was performed at their surgical center which IS COVERED by some Medicare plans (like mine, which I pay dearly for!) but the billing department refuses to send Medicare the information so you can recoup the payment for the surgical center they make you pay before the surgery upfront! I have called Medicare... I have written to Medicare... they have clearly told me that YES it is covered under my plans BUT the drs office needs to send them the BILL!!!! Or I need to jump through hoops (wasting my time since January to get my money back), I should say MORE HOOPS!!! I am clearly never doing this again! Sorry Dr. Nick but this reflects on you since I can not positively recommend you without explaining the lack of Medicare billing knowledge.... I asked the billing manager to call Medicare and get the correct billing codes... she apparently did not bother. Just keeps repeating "some Medicare plans don't pay for surgical centers".... Mine does!!!

They walked me right through the surgery. They explained everything before doing it right up until the Anastasia took affect. I was amazed at how they did a pretty hard procedure and made me feel like it was a walk in the park. If you are like me. Terrified at the very thought of someone working on your eyes. This is the place for you. Biggest surprise of all though. Was what l ended up paying them. That too was a pleasant walk in the park.

Here is the story that's kind of hard to believe. Michael was down to Coco Beach , from Pennsylvania, for a week long chemical inspection training course that started today. 5/23/16. It will be an intense course with lots of Power Point Presentations , lab quizzes, technical chemical textbook reading etc... Yesterday after getting to Coco Beach, he went out in the ocean and in the waves lost his only pair of glasses. ( I know, I am only the dad but I would not have gone into the ocean in my glasses .) Mike also forgot to pack any contacts! Last night we found an old Contact Rx and E-mailed it to Mike. He had no time this morning to try to get a pair of contacts, so he spent the first day of training blind and fuzzy. So after the day was over he walked to the closest Walmart , but the doctor was gone for the day and the contact tech could not fill the RX for a trial pair of contacts. Being a Dentist I was able to contact Dr Bolos at home , just as he got home from his other office. Dr Bolos works PT at Walmart and it was 1/2 hour to closing when we spoke. I relayed the above story to Dr Bolos and to my surprise he told me it takes him 10 mins to get to Walmart. He said he was just about to" crack open a cold one" but he would jump in the car to see Mike as he couldn't imagine taking a week long training course , blind. Not to mention the strain on the eyes and headaches trying to read a Power Point or books with no glasses. Dr Bolos was a lifesaver and Michael and I both really appreciate that he took his time after work to go in to see him. Dr Bolos did fit him with two sets of trail contacts. Mike called me on the way back to his hotel and he can.... sea! If I lived in Coco Beach , Dr B. would be my doctor.

I came to Dr. Bolos after the team at Florida Eye Associates wrote a…read moreprescription for glasses that i couldn't see 20 feet in front of me with, and they claimed lab fault not theirs... this after they scanned my brand new glasses and told me that my glasses were made to prescription. Sooo how do you still blame the lab? This is how I came to Dr. Bolos who not knowing the history did a complete eye exam (my current glasses were from an exam less than a month prior) and wrote a prescription that was NOTHING like the one I got from Florida Eye Associates... and wouldn't ya know it... I can see and not just can I see, but the truth is I never thought i would ever see this clearly.. I honestly believe that because I had astigmatism that just was not something i would have... I was so wrong... I just couldn't have it because I didn't have good eye care. Thank you so much Dr. Bolos. Not only are you a wonderful and caring man, you do a completely thorough eye exam and vision screening, does not rely on a tech or computer to do that for him, and takes the time to know you will be seeing things clearly. I cannot thank him enough!

Dr Newbert was very knowledgeable and if any issue came up he handled it quickly and effectively. When Melanie joined the team she took over my care. She filled my intrathecal pump and adjusted it accordingly. They got 10 stars out of a possible 5. To say things have gone south in the last several months since the new staff took over would be the biggest understatement of the year. Yesterday, September 3rd 2026, everything came to a head. My pump refill was scheduled for August 28th or so I thought. If I had received one of the many notices that I used to get, I would have known the 8 in the 28 of the handwritten slip of paper I received as an appointment card, was actually a 0. When the real date was figured out, on the 21st, I started calling and leaving messages on their back line extension that is posted at the check in desk. I called everyday, most days multiple times a day. No RESPONSE! I left voice messages, the answering service sent emails, I even spoke to the billing office trying to reach the office manager, no response from all that. Finally I drove the hour and 15 minutes over to the office after my pump started alarming. After going back and forth with the staff on if I could be seen without an appointment, if the medicine was still in the office, I was 2.5 hrs later. When the young lady came in the room, she never introduced herself. She was wearing bright pink scrubs with no white coat. I thought she was an intern or nurse. She said I hear you missed your appointment. I said I wouldn't have if the appointment paper was readable, or if anyone would have bothered to send a reminder, or answer any of the calls I have been making since the 21st. Her response was, I can't do anything about that, that is not my department. Then she went on to ask "what all are we doing today". I said just the fill and the biggest raise that you can give me. Her response was How long has your pump been alarming? oh your pump is empty I can't raise it. You can come back in 2 weeks and get it raised then I said no "thank you. I don't believe that the pump is empty". Yes it is. if it has been alarming for that long, it is empty. I shook my head no. She said "look, you have been yelling at everyone and just wanting to argue since you got here". I said "no ma'am I have never once raised my voice, said a foul word. I have just spoke the truth". After a couple of minutes of silence, i said, "the level of empathy is astounding. Everything has gone downhill since Dr. Newbert left". Her response was,"this system was in place before he left. I am so tired of you people saying that. I don't have anything to do with that. You want empathy but this is a business. We do are jobs and stay in our lanes". I said a "Dr office is more than just a business". When I got off the table I saw the syringe that had the remains of the solution that was left in my pump. I said "see my pump wasn't empty after all". I turned the handle of the door to leave and she said I am still not raising your pump. You can come pack in 2 weeks. Don't leave I have to reset the pump. I turned around to sit down and she said "don't you ever make an aggressive move towards me again". I said "what are you talking about. I never did or said anything aggressive. I can't believe that you would say that". Her response was "I am so tired of you starting arguments". When I walked down the hallway she.bumped into me going past me. She walked into the back office. I said "Hey" and she turned around. I pointed at her. She was 10 to 15 feet away, and I said "don't you ever accuse me of being aggressive when you almost knock me off balance like that. You have a lot to learn about professionalism". Her response was "don't you put your finger in my face".I laughed and said "princess If I was in your face you would know". Then she told the receptionist to make my next appointment in Viera because she won't fill my pump again. When the receptionist finished checking in 2 patients she asked if I wanted an appointment in Viera. I said no thank you. I just need the print out of my pump. I have gotten this print out ever time that I get the pump filled for the 18 years of having the pump. After an hour and 20 minutes of waiting for the print out, I am told that they can't figure out how to print it out and will email it to me. I left. Not once did someone say, I am sorry for the confusion. Give us a chance to make it right. I guess that is one difference between a business a and a Dr. office. Other patients were there in person because they couldn't get a phone call returned. One man has tried to get his meds refilled for 4 months and finally drove 2 hours to do it in person. The entire time I was in the office the phone never rang. I believe that under different circumstances things may have gone differently, I will never find out.
