Surgery was performed at their surgical center which IS COVERED by some Medicare plans (like mine, which I pay dearly for!) but the billing department refuses to send Medicare the information so you can recoup the payment for the surgical center they make you pay before the surgery upfront! I have called Medicare... I have written to Medicare... they have clearly told me that YES it is covered under my plans BUT the drs office needs to send them the BILL!!!! Or I need to jump through hoops (wasting my time since January to get my money back), I should say MORE HOOPS!!! I am clearly never doing this again! Sorry Dr. Nick but this reflects on you since I can not positively recommend you without explaining the lack of Medicare billing knowledge.... I asked the billing manager to call Medicare and get the correct billing codes... she apparently did not bother. Just keeps repeating "some Medicare plans don't pay for surgical centers".... Mine does!!!

For several months, Dr. Barnard has been successfully treating my very serious retinal issues that…read moreseveral years ago made my left eye non-functional at reading and driving. His success is in sharp contrast to that of three prior attending retinal specialists. He alone confidently used his considerable communication, surgical, and diagnostic skills to select and perform a vitrectomy operation with an ERM (EpiRetinal Membrane) peel, subsequently boosted by an eylea injection. Consequently, nearly half of the two layers of my retina that had been separated by macular edema (swelling) at the RPE (retinal pigment epithelium) have reunited. This gives him and me reason to expect the remainder of the retina will continue to follow suit. Unfortunately, the known ROOT cause is a BRVO (branch retinal vein occlusion) still to be managed, but it lacks a decisive cure. However, Dr Barnard is my best bet to cope with that, as he is an articulate listener and the results to date speak for themselves.

Dr. Aker is sooo sweet!…read more Had my first eye appt in over 2-3 years. Dr. Aker is so nice. I can see why when asked around who do people trust their eyes with they say Dr. Aker. We talked a bit and even dropped some recs of things to do and where to eat because I'm new to FL. What a sweet sweet man. Facility I went to was near Sunrise Bakery. His downstairs facility is the area where you try on glasses and fittings and stuff. Take the elevator up to the actual office where the exams and stuff are at. His staff seemed nice. Check in was a breeze as I did complete new patient paperwork prior to the visit. I felt the Dr did spend a good amount of time with me and addressed my concerns.
