I have a cheapo Seiko watch that needed its batteries to be replaced. I was thinking about going to the mall, but after reading some of the rude, unprofessional replies from the owner to the customers who gave him a low rating, I decided to go elsewhere and ended up here instead. I'm glad I did! The service was quick and it only cost me $10 to replace my battery. I couldn't believe it; usually the mall kiosk charges at least $35+ to replace batteries. I'm definitely going to come here to get my watch and my husband's watches fixed. The place is located in an office building. Parking is pretty good. Definitely come here! read more

Disappointment. Take your valued watch somewhere else. Bottom Line, a "certified" Swish watch repair boutique in the shadow of La Jolla. Brought in a high very nice watch with a mechanical issue. He visually inspected the watch, quoted a price and said he'd call back. Good. Well, a few weeks go by, nothing heard. I call. Still working it. Finally calls back a week or two later. Fixed the movement but failed to put it back together properly. For the cost of the repair and professed expertise, this is unacceptable. "Sorry." Ok. Maybe they are just used to dealing with rich or less discerning clients, maybe not, but I don't recommend them and won't bring anymore business. read more

A lot of good reviews drew me to Mr. Fuhrer's shop but, unfortunately, my experience was not good. I brought in a Swiss watch for repair and paid well to have it fixed. After getting the watch back, wearing it a couple of times, the back cover fell off. Pretty basic for watch repair..even more so for "Swiss watch repair." For the fee I paid, this is no acceptable. I emailed him. He did ask me to bring it back and apologized but offered neither a full or partial refund. I won't go back and won't recommend his services. read more

This guy was awesome. I had a tiny screw loose in my watchband and he tightened it for free and then casually brushed off a tip I made him take. When I asked him if he would service my watch later in the year, he replied, " You use your watch, is anything broken? Then it's a happy watch. My dive watch was running fast. I looked for watch repair near my business so I could drop off and get back quickly. When I handed him my watch he asked me to wait. 5 minutes later he handed it back, explained what had been wrong, and said it was fixed. When I asked how much I owed him he said no charge. I still left some cash on the counter as I have had watches repaired over the years, and even having a dive watch looked at is $50 to $100. I am sure he normally charges fairly even on complicated repairs. Just on speed and knowledge I would strongly recommend him. read more

He did my work appraisal for free and ordered the parts (they took two weeks to arrive) for my Movado bracelet watch and fixed it at within 20 minutes. Because my watch is still under warranty there was no charge and since there is no other authorized Movado repair shop close to my home I decided to change out my three year old battery which would have cost over $50 plus shipping and handling to send to the MGI New Jersey location; he only charged me $20. I work in the office building that Henry is located in and have had to use his services 4-5 times in the last couple of years and he has been wonderful each time. It has been for minor stuff such as changing a battery, removing a link and one time one of the hour markers fell off inside the watch so he had to open it up and glue it back down. Quick and friendly service each time. He also charges less than what you'd pay at one of those kiosks at the mall for those types of services. The most recent time takes the cake though. I just treated myself to an early Christmas present and purchased an Omega Aqua Terra 8500. Long story short, I got a decent sized scratch on the bezel and distraught after having damaged such an expensive (for me at least) watch, I took it to Henry to see what he could do. He admitted it was a pretty deep scratch, but he buffed it in a couple minutes while I waited and made it much less noticeable. Best of all, didn't even charge me! Henry will be getting first crack at all my watch repair/servicing needs. read more

My brother recently gave me a beautiful vintage Noah Fuller built Tsunami. He had taken out 2 of the links, which were in the box when it arrived from FedEx. The watch was a little bit too tight so I called around for prices to put in a link (and replace the pin). Found Henry's place was less than a mile from my home. Took my watch in, he replaced the missing (weird custom 2 piece) screw/pin in less than 5 minutes. Half the price of the other places I called. Once upon a time... a long time ago....I bought a beautiful watch. To be honest, I'm not a really a watch wearing person. I usually just defer to my cellphone when I need to know the time. But this watch is special. Its a Movado Ono. It's more than a timepiece. It's my favorite piece of jewelry. So recently when the battery died, I went to the jewelry store where I bought the watch. Much to my surprise they told me they could NOT just replace the battery right there on the spot. This was news to me. The gal at the jewelry store gave me a lecture/lesson about high end watches. "Owning a Movado is like owning a Maserati" she claimed. "Your watch needs to be sent out to a specialized center and it will take at least a few weeks to get it back". "Ummm, ok" I replied. "How much will that cost?" I was shocked by her answer. I cant remember the exact figure, but it was in the hundreds. After I got over the shock of the lesson I had just received, I decided to check around and see if this was true. Much to my surprise, I checked with two other jewelers. They both said pretty much the same thing. Not wanting to send out my watch for weeks, I decided to check with the Movado website. I wanted to see if they could recommend a local watch repairman. I was in luck! There is one watch repairman in San Diego who is certified by Movado. His name is Henry M. Fuhrer, and he is the real deal! When you walk into his shop, it becomes obvious that Mr. Fuhrer is more that just a watch repairman. He is an expert craftsman! Within five minutes he replaced the battery and the cost was so reasonable! I have had my Rolex and Movado watches serviced by Henry for decades. On my Rolex he has over time replaced the crystal, the dial to change the look (he returned the original one), fixed crown problems and periodically serviced my Rolex over the past 30 years. I had a gold bracelet wear issue and he referred me to a repair shop that fixed the problem within a couple of weeks at a reasonable price. I have sent my son to service his Omega which was also done promptly again at a very reasonable price.
