Easy peasy lemon squeezy watch battery replacement for $25! I popped in, got quoted a price and a fifteen-minute wait, left to buy some groceries, and came back to a fully functional watch again! That's it. That's the review. You can stop reading here unless you want a lengthy sob story. --- Many years ago, I'd stopped in to a different watch repair shop (on the other side of the continent) for a similar battery replacement. Shortly after picking up my watch, I discovered some condensation building up under the watch face. I went back to the shop and they explained that my gasket probably needed replacing. They did so, fixing the moisture problem, but it wasn't until many months later that I discovered they had replaced my virtually scratch-proof sapphire watch crystal with something else... And it now readily accumulated visible damage because I'm an utter klutz and bump into things regularly. During the pandemic, I got out of the habit of wearing a watch, because--like many others--I stopped frequenting an office where I had to dress in less casual apparel than pajama pants and a tee. My watch has been languishing in a drawer for several years. Fast forward to this week... after getting my battery replaced, I chatted with the friendly lady while she rang me up and learned that several higher end watch brands are notorious for having crap service (or don't even service their own devices), but also that some horologists can replace a synthetic sapphire crystal. I'd given up on it! That said, they're not cheap, and the estimate ran about 30% of the original cost of my watch. At any rate, I was grateful to not just have a working timepiece again, but also left with renewed hope of finding a way to restore my watch to its original form! read more

Time Wise is the best! Stephanie helped me get a new ring I purchased somewhere else resized and also my great grandmothers ring fixed up. I appreciated her keen eye to detail with a family heirloom that is 100+ years old. She recommended reinforcing the prongs to protect the stone better and it was extremely affordable to do. Josh helped me create a custom ring based on a low quality one I found elsewhere. I appreciated his honestly and his knowledge surrounding the design process, metal types, and the longevity of the piece. I think other jewelers may have had less integrity and promised me they could resize the ring I found, which was gold vermeil, and cashed in on the process but Josh was up front that it was more worth my money to have it created the way I want it in solid gold. I also have a necklace I will be making for my mom's birthday and for a simple piece they had more options than I know what to do with! lol They also have a wonderful estate section with quality pieces at a discounted price. I could tell a lot of them are one of a kind and very unique. Josh also polished up my grandmother's wedding band for me and I was SHOCKED at how shiny he was able to get it with just a "mediocre" buff! I originally thought going in here and getting my Rolex resized was a good idea. I talked to the person working got it done, paid and got out of there. Except I'm now learning that resizing a rolex let alone any watch with a band with removable links is the same process but I was charged 55$ for the resizing because the lady working told me it was a more luxurious watch they don't usually work on. I don't believe this was an ethical honest business practice and I am extremely disappointed. After talking to another watchmaker nearby I was informed most jewelers and watch makers would do micro adjustments for free and a link removal for no more than 20$. I feel like I got hosed for sure. But I do suppose the watch fits well now so there's that. Update: Since the owners reply to the review I have since stopped by the 3 other watchmakers in the San Diego County all which quoted me under 20$ for the same service I had completed here. Spewing a thousand words to make it sound like the adjustment took a heightened level of knowledge just because of the watch brand knowing full well that it was not a different process or took any different tools is why this business receives a 1 star in my opinion. It's the words chosen to create deceit and the owner of this business does not understand that. I will be happy going to a new watch maker. I can't believe how humiliated and upset I felt today at Blumenthal Jewelry. On February 9th 2019 I took 3 watches into this establishment to have the batteries replaced. I brought in 2 Movado watches and one Gucci. On March 4th I decided to use my Movado bold watch and when I put it on I noticed the time never changed so I thought either I had a bad battery or my watch needed to be repaired. Today I went into the establishment to have them check my watch and I brought in my receipt. I was told the back of the watch was hard to get off and that they would have to use a machine of which I said no problem. Then a young lady came back with my watch and stated that there was no sticker in the watch and if they had replaced the battery the back would be loose and have a sticker. Once again I provided my receipt for 3 batteries that cost $60 the young lady stated to me how would they know this is the same watch that I brought in the 1st time. At this point I was livid she further went on to tell me that there are many people who come into the store to have batteries replaced on watches that weren't on the original receipt. Once again I protested stating that was the receipt I was provided with and why would I bring in my $400 watch to cheat them out of a $25 battery. Extremely unprofessional worst customer service ever basically I was being called a liar although I had their receipt. First time customer here. This place exceeded my expectations, and did a great custom engraving job on a rush order, with kind, affordable and prompt service. Back Story: We ordered one of those online customizable watches from Zazzle for my 94 year old WW2 veteran father. It has his infantry division logo, a combat infantry badge and a small medical alert logo so if my father was found wandering lost, the finder would know to turn it over for info. It was supposed to arrive the day after Fathers Day. But as luck would have it, it came a day early! I called Time Wise asking about engraving the back. They said they do engraving, and had the ability to do a rush order on it today, however they'd need to see it to know for sure how much they could fit. Very reasonable request, so I headed right over for them to take a look. Once I arrived and mentioned I'd called about engraving a watch, they remembered my name and knew exactly what I'd come in for. I had my concerns as the logo on the back was large, and had a lot of writing. They spoke with me at length to identify what information I felt was most important, how it might best fit, and the various sizes and fonts available. There truly wasn't a lot of room to put much on the back of it. While they could have fit some of the information around the logo, they came up with a solution to remove the existing logo; being very honest that it depended on how deep it went, and that it wouldn't be the shiny finish it was but more of a brushed finish. I hated the existing brand logo and was indifferent to the finish, so we decided we could fit everything better, and with much larger font like I'd wanted if the existing logo was brushed off. It took under 3 hours, and came out better then I had expected. I sure wish the photos could do it justice, it really was exactly what I hoped for. In addition to the engraved watch, I also left them my old Bulova watch there yesterday to have the crystal replaced. That wasn't a rush job, so am patiently awaiting it's return, knowing I left it in excellent hands. Thank you again Time Wise! I wanted to give them a second chance when I had stopped in to have the date corrected on my Citizen Eco-Drive watch (which they are an Authorized Citizen dealer) that I would have had to leave my watch, and it would cost $35. I said no thank you (it was a two minute fix and however long to download a manual - but really.. know your product you sell to adjust the date - and there wasn't a customer to warrant anything of being busy). Then trying to sell me a damaged watch band, with 30% off (only thing they had) and no discount for bringing in 5 watches to have all batteries replaced - all higher than what I paid at a jeweler around the corner, and a plethora of watch band options to boot. Hopefully their sales prices on watches and jewelry are better than what they provide on the service side. But certainly have not won me over as a customer to ever step foot in again. read more

Neither of us are very knowledgeable about jewelry so we are so thankful to get the help and professional opinions from Stephanie. She kept us in the loop with any update, we valued her communication! She was able to find the perfect garnet to add to an existing gold band for my fiance... it seriously looks as if the stone was meant for that ring! The results far exceeded our expectations. For my ring, I showed her a reference photo. Not only did she nail it but she also was able to make it my own, not just a replica. Stephanie helped me customize a white gold mounting and pick out the perfect stones. I wanted something simple yet nonconventional. She was able to bring that vision to life for me. I adore the results. We are so happy with our rings, we still cannot stop staring at them! Ironically, the only reason I'm writing this review is because they sent us a thank you card asking us to write a Yelp review. Well, here it is. I really, really, regret choosing TimeWise Jewelers I would advise you stay away. While friendly, their workmanship is very poor and they don't stand behind their work at all. I much rather have deal with a rude staff that does great work than a friendly staff with poor work, especially with my wife's wedding rings! I found TimeWise on Yelp. The reviews looked good and I wanted to support a local Clairemont business, especially when small business are suffering. We needed to get my wife's ring cut as she was 8 months pregnant and it was getting too tight. She had two rings: her engagement solitaire ring and her eternity wedding ring. The engagement ring was very tight but the eternity was a half size bigger so we were not trying to get that one cut and could have got it off with soap/water/ice, etc. We went down to TimeWise and they seemed friendly enough. She said the resize was between $120-$200 - perfectly reasonable. She said would cut them free and only asked that we use them for the resize. Of course we agreed to come back. However, the cutting seemed to be a struggle and they insisted we needed to cut both rings off, even though we felt they could have easily just cut the engagement ring. Looking back I would have just bought a ring cutter from Amazon as it's a $20 tool and there was clearly no expertise involved in the actual cutting as she just seemed to want to get them cut and move on. We left very frustrated and felt taken advantage of. After the pregnancy we went back to get the rings resized, only to find the price had skyrocketed. The solitaire ring resize was the same $200, but they told us the eternity band - the ring we did not want cut - would be between $600-$800! The ring itself was $1800! On top of that we had to wait a week to get an actual quote since their jeweler only works Tuesdays. Again, we left very frustrated and felt taken advantage of. After a week they got back to us and said the eternity band would be $350. We felt relieved it wasn't double that but still frustrated that this was a situation that could have been avoided entirely. We just wanted our rings to be fixed and be done with TimeWise so we agreed. After two weeks we get a call saying the solitaire ring is done but the jeweler noticed that 5 of the diamonds in the eternity band were chipped and that they could replace them for $60 per diamond, adding $350 to the bill, saying that they could not guarantee they wouldn't fall out due to the chipping if we did not repair them. No mentioned of any stones potentially falling of the engagement ring. We declined as we just wanted to get away from TimeWise and be done. However, a WEEK later two 2mm side diamonds from the solitaire ring (not the eternity ring with the chipped diamonds) fell out! My wife was barely wearing her ring at this point as she didn't want to potentially scratch the baby. The two diamonds were at the exact same place on each side, so it's not like she went BONK on the left and BONK on the right side, it clearly was due to the structural integrity when they cut and resized the ring, perhaps not double checking the prongs. Frustrated again, I called them to let them know it's only been a week and this was ridiculous. They seemed apologetic and told me to come in. When I arrived they looked a bit flustered and then babbled something about "the stones sometimes don't set and this happens" and "well it was cut so...". I said YOU cut it, it's only been a week and there's no way this was caused by my wife damaging the ring. She said the best she could do was offer a free install of the diamonds ($30) but we'd have to pay for the diamonds themselves ($80). As usual with TimeWise, I left very frustrated and taken advantage of. Finally, my wife went to pick up the rings and expressed our frustration and disappointment with the entire experience from start to finish. She was told that they can't guarantee that stones won't fall out, etc, since the bands were cut and then resized (again, BY THEM). My wife explained that we were only told that the eternity band would potentially be an issue and nothing about the engagement ring having issues since that was a simple resize, and that it is very bad business to not stand behind their work after such a short period of time. She tried to compromise, asking that the 2 stones at least be discounted. They responded with "It's only $80". Exactly. It's not about the price but the principal of what a good business really is. TimeWise clearly is not. Take your business elsewhere, we certainly will be. read more

About 10 years ago I used a jeweler of Friars Road near 163. He said the chain and charm I bought were sterling silver. Needless to say they BOTH tarnished to brass and wouldn't return to silver. I ended up getting a beautiful Amethyst bracelet, but it was a bit too big and needed to be shortened. The girls that work there spent so much time with me as I was indecisive on the length to shorten it to. They helped me decide on the perfect length for my wrist.
