Our family has been in Ferguson for 4 generations and owned 7 homes there. We attempted to purchase an 8th home for an aging relative, using Pearce Neikirk as our realtor. He worked in cahoots with the listing agent to scam us out of the home. He spoke on the phone with the agent as we wrote the contract and acted very strange. He insisted that we ask for certain improvements and concessions and a lower purchase price. We were completely confused as we were prepared to pay full price, in cash, with no inspections and no concessions. After we signed the contract, we discussed how odd that was and wondered if there was some sort of scheme going on. A couple weeks later, we saw a handy man working on the property. It had sold to an investor for $50 more than we offered. But much less than we wanted to offer in cash. Pearce never contacted us to let us know it sold or even that another contract had been accepted. Months later, we received our earnest money in an envelop with no explanation, no letter, nothing. The investor put drug dealers in the home and the neighbors told us that the police were always being called for domestic disputes. We told a friend about the experience and he said they had a very similar experience- that Pearce scammed them out of a home a couple years before. We have been told that realtors will scheme to sell homes to investors, even at a huge loss for the seller, in order to get under-the-table cash from investors. Of the 7 homes my family owned at that time, one was allowed to go into foreclosure, 3 sit vacant and only 3 (with elderly relatives) are occupied. They would love to move out of Ferguson, especially since the riots, but their homes are worth nothing. Now Pearce and his friends can purchase investment properties for pennies on the dollar. THIS CREEP AND HIS PARTNERS SHOULD BE IN PRISON, not giving Eddy Haskel style 'Ferguson is so safe and misunderstood' inteviews to the Post-Dispatch and CNN.
