On August 21'26 I went to Henry's to have two photos from my phone printed to fit in a frame for a gift. I brought two frames with me because I wasn't sure which would suit which photo. Katie D guided me through the upload and print process and then offered really helpful suggestions on which combinations of photo and frame were most appealing. Her patience and professional eye were really appreciated and helped me to make a pleasing choice more quickly. My needs for this project were pretty simple. I needed a tripod mount for my phone to do some videos, and maybe start a vlog. But it had to have a shoe to mount a mic. Naturally, almost every online search pointed me towards listings on Amazon. NO. THANK. YOU. This pandemic had made me realize that - as much as I love the convenience of online shopping - there's something to be said about the experience of a brick and mortar store, and dealing with a store employee that offers great customer service. And, that's exactly what I got from this store. And, the price was exactly the same as Amazon. Shop local. Shop small business. One less dollar to Bezos and company. read more

UPDATE November 26 2018. Henry's has been having a fabulous Black Friday to Cyber Monday sale! Canon printers for half price, which print up to larger photos than 8X10!! Mind you, they get you with the price of ink replacements (about $23 per cartridge), and paper (ie: 50 sheets of 13 X 19 inch prints will run you $123.00!!). Henry's is also offering good deals on cameras and lenses, in store and on line. Latest news on Henry's: they are opening a shop in Vancouver, BC. It's great to see the expansion of a Canadian company! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I have been shopping at Henrys (starting in Toronto) for more years than I would really like to admit (yes - read: decades!) They have great tools and service. I recently had a camera and lens repaired through them; happy with results as it was cheaper than buying new. They have also held the digital show here in Ottawa for a few years, giving away free tickets to their customers. Now I am completely hooked on digital photography, and never use film anymore. That's a bit of a shame as I have good film equipment too! The only negative that comes to mind (yes, very tongue in cheek!) regarding Henry's is that they don't have a photo lab in any of their Ottawa stores. It irks me to send them digital shots only to have them printed in Toronto and mailed to me! Although, they used to have a very reputable photo lab in Toronto. Now I'm off to buy a photo printer from them. I need to calibrate my computer to print photos at home. That's not so bad - get what you want when you want it! I went to the Kanata store to have five photo blankets done for my family. I was served by Jordon T. Cannot put into words how helpful he was. He spent so much time with me. I brought in an envelope of photos. I am not tech savvy. He scanned, downloaded and created each blanket for me. (Well over an hour) Never looked at his watch, never rolled his eyes. So kind, patient, so helpful. With this pandemic going on, I have dealt with so much anger and rudeness from customer service people. It just made my day. I know people will say he was only doing his job. To me, he wasn't just doing his job, he went over and above. I HIGHLY recommend Henry's in Kanata. The store offers so much!! read more

I brought here my Canon 16-35 lens to fix stucked zoom ring. They charged me nonrefundable $75 fee for management and estimating. Days later I got an estimate of $470 for this repair. Actually most of the professional photographers know this is the generic problem of this lens - loosen screws. It takes only 2 minutes to fix. I brought the lens there for this repair and expected to ask them for regular maintenance after I got the estimate. Week later I took the lens back and I myself fixed it in 2 minutes and brought it to other for regular maintenance. I will never turn my face to Henry's. Behind their kindness, they hide insane overcharge. SCAM. read more

Excellent service! The staff here take the time to listen to customers' needs, and make recommendations accordingly. Rather than just trying to sell you a pricey piece of equipment, in my experiences here they have made the effort to understand my needs and help me find what will work best for me.
