Learned a little history about this place while my husband was talking off the ear off the lady in the shop. The land has been in the family for over 100 years I think, some insane amount of acreage. There's an older man that runs it he's in his 70s family run. When you get there you drive down to the very bottom pick out your tree, they tag it for you. You have to pay at least half upfront and then the rest when you pick up. Everyone was very nice it was a good experience. Just a better feeling picking out your tree then just going and buying it somewhere like we've done in the past. They have different types of trees different sizes they price it by the type and size. Ours was $76. The trees are all kind of short and fat like really fat but I kind of dig it! read more

This was our first time tagging a tree so we weren't sure what to expect. Upon arrival, we were offered the option of driving our own vehicle or a taking tractor ride ($5pp) to the tree tagging area. We opted for the tractor ride. Once at the area, the tractor driver told us to flag down one of the workers (who are walking or driving a golf cart in the area) when we selected our tree. There were signs comparing the types of trees (color, scent, needle retention, etc...) and where each type of tree was located. Despite many trees already having been tagged, there was still a large selection to choose from. We found our tree in about a half an hour and flagged down a worker who promptly tagged our tree and gave us a receipt. We took a tractor ride back to the farm stand which is a cute shop with a large variety of ornaments and holiday decor for sale. We paid for our Christmas tree and confirmed the pick up date. The staff could not have been more friendly or helpful. We'll definitely be back!! A few tips: You'll need to know the date you want to pick up your tree before tagging. For the best selection, it's probably best to go Columbus Day weekend or the first weekend available. We came. We saw. They chopped. It was our first time being at a tree farm, and our Henry's experience was perfect. Seriously friendly staff there. My hubz and I had zero clue what to do, and someone greeted us right away and happily went through all of our options. Since we had time and it was a sunny yet crisp late-fall day, we chose to find our tree among the farm vs the pre-chopped version. The friendliness never stopped - from the gentleman running the tractor (take the ride!) to the gents that cut the tree we picked, it was all sweet smiles and kind gestures from the Henry's peeps. Full on holiday spirit. Note: Bring "tip" money, the choppers & wrappers are awesome. The gift shop is also nice. I really appreciated the complimentary hot apple cider and the wide range of holiday ornaments to check out while we waited for our tree to be chopped. Last year I went to Henry's Tree Farm. I was happy to find a concolor fir, but the price was outrageous at $125! The best part is that our family tagged the tree which we would have cut down and taken home at the next visit, however they cut down our tree 4 days before we came to pick it up. The tree was DEAD!! A very pleasant, quaint Rhode Island Christmas tree farm, with rolling hills and so many trees to select from! The weather was delightful when we went, and it was so nice to just traipse through the grounds and explore our different tree options. In the front checkout area, there are precut trees that you can choose from (no minimum on height of tree, price is per foot tall of tree). In the fields, you can pick your tree, and staff will help you cut it down with a power saw (there is not an option for you to cut them down yourself, but this is probably a good thing since it's not easy to saw through some of these!). The prices in the field are per foot with a minimum of 6 feet (even if your tree is less than 6 feet). There are a whole selection of trees to choose from, including Douglas Fir (a true classic), Korean Fir (so cute and round!), Concolor Fir (which we got! it has such a nice citrus scent!), and White Pine. There is a huge selection for different sizes of trees, too! Once we decided on a tree, it was a little hard to get the attention of the staff, as they are helping lots of people and doing lots of things, but once you flag them down, they are incredibly helpful. They measure the tree with a measuring stick, cut it down with a power saw, package it up for you, bring it up to the checkout area, and help you load it onto your car after you check out! Not only was Henry's cheaper than other tree farms I've been to in RI, it's the full package experience. You arrive, board a tractor ride through the Christmas tree farm to your destination. You find a tree, it gets cut down, wrapped up and shipped back to the front. You board another tractor to come back and your tree is waiting for you. There are lots of photo ops spread around (a sleigh you can sit in, a set of wooden trees with holes you can put your faces in, etc.) There's also a shop with free hot cider, wreaths and loads of ornaments. I'm pretty serious about my Christmas tree cutting experience. Since moving to RI I've found decent farms (Pachet Farm in Tiverton is great) -- but this one is the whole package and probably where I'll come back next year. I wanted to like this place, but their inattention to the simplest of COVID measures (mask wearing) made it hard to be excited about buying a tree from them. And it wasn't just one employee. And it wasn't just outdoors. I wanted to look around at their ornament selection, but after encountering someone in the shop with their mask around their chin- I just used the ATM and left quickly. The woman at the register told me that the unmasked man was a family member. They don't seem to understand how this virus works. This is how we're number 1 for infections in the country. This tree farm is huge! We've gone here about 3 times but have only purchased a tree from them one time. Although it's a large farm, the pretty trees always get tagged way before we go (day after thanksgiving). Last year, I put it in my calendar to go Columbus Day weekend to tag a tree. Gorgeous space and welcoming staff - about everything you can ask for from a Christmas Tree Farm. My roommates tagged a tree this year, and when we went to pick it up, it was all freshly cut and trimmed for us. We were in and out in less than 15 minutes with our tree! Lucky for us, we were allowed to come back from the car and tour the grounds for a bit. It is an incredibly photogenic place and the staff walking around checked in frequently to see if we needed any help. While the employees are great, I no longer buy trees here because the owner obnoxiously chastised me for showing up 10 minutes before closing time to pick up my tree (you tag in October and they cut it on a pre-determined date in December). How long can it possibly take to find my tree and run it through the automated wrapping machine and throw it on the roof of my car? Maybe 3 minutes? Give me a break. Keep treating customers this way and soon you won't have any. For the price they charge, I shouldn't even have to pick it up at all. This was our first year selecting a real Christmas Tree so we headed to Henry's after reading the positive yelp reviews and getting good feedback from friends. There's a nice little festive Christmas shop at the top of the property. It has a lovely selection of ornaments as well as free apple cider and candy kanes. It's a family and pet friendly farm (we had our dog leashed) There's a tractor pull on weekends that will bring you to and from the lots where you can select your tree. Prices are reasonable and selection is great. This is a cash/check only establishment. We tagged our tree and paid on the spot - A Fraser Fir that was about 6 1/2 ft tall for about $48. The staff was friendly and fairly knowledgeable about the trees. Overall, a great trip! We can't wait to pick up our tree. read more

I LOVE this place. We got our tree here last year and it was a totally different experience than we had this year, but both experiences have been great. Last year we went on a foggy and drizzly Friday evening and we were the only people in the place. The fields were lit up and we just walked down and picked our tree and they cut it and we called it a day. This year was much different: we went on a Saturday morning and there were tons of people! They had a tractor with a wagon taking people down to the fields, and the fields are huge! We couldn't get the magnitude of that at night in the dark, but it was breathtaking in the daylight. We eventually found a lovely fat little tree and they cut it down for us. They had a nice system for retrieving the trees, too, so even though it was busy there wasn't much confusion at the pickup. Wreaths, ornaments, decorations, and candy canes abound! And free hot cider! And a coloring contest for the kids! Just don't forget the cash, because they don't take credit cards. read more

I looo-ooove this farm. Everyone is super helpful, I felt like I was making a large consumer good purchase, not a Christmas tree. Prices are reasonable for pre-cut and super efficient to go in, pick a tree - they always have a good selection out - pay, and leave. OR you can take a hayride out to the fields and select your own. We have chosen the quicker option. The tree salesperson(?) then took a look and did additional trimming for us before wrapping the tree and popping it in the car! The shop is adorably kitsch, lots of different ornaments (a few unique but pretty much all made in China and Taiwan), tree accessories, and a big bucket of mini candy canes. Cash only! read more

I like this place a lot! I've gotten my trees here every year for the past 3 years and nary a bit of trouble. Expensive? Maybe. But compared to where I'm used to getting my trees (our family farm in Wisconsin), everything is. The playing field is leveled by charging $8.50 a foot, not by type of tree, so should you desire a Frasier Fur, you only have height to consider...this is a measure I can approve of. So I am split. The family really wanted to 'cut' the tree but it was not to be. That being said, you do get to roam the property, find your tree and then... well someone else will show up, tell you how much it will cost, cut it and then load it to the truck. All you have to do is chase it down, pay for it and tie it to your truck. I guess you could either be disappointed that you were able to go all Paul Bunion or, you can be happy that someone else was. I take Christmas very seriously. This Farm is so nice and everybody running is so friendly. I have been coming here since I was a little kid. Once we arrived we went to the store and we were greeted by a nice very nice lady she explain the whole process to us. Then the equally as nice man offered to take me and my family down to the tagging area by a tractor. There are so many beautiful trees to choose from the scenery is absolutely breathtaking. When you finally pick your tree there are plenty of workers around to help you tag your beautiful tree! They price per foot and the cost depends what type of tree! We paid 60 for an 8 footer!! Overpriced trees (minimum pricing on large 6ft trees even halfway through December when there weren't any 6ft in the lot left) and our tree actually ended up rotten and moldy which has never happened to us before. We've gotten our Christmas tree here for the past couple of years, and it's really the perfect place for a quick, easy, friendly experience. The staff is attentive and helpful; great at managing customers so there's almost always a person available to help. They wrap up the tree and load it into the car right away. The variety of trees is good, and and the prices are great. We also got a live wreath this year, which is beautiful and simple, exactly what we wanted. We have no complaints and always have a great experience. You really can't ask for more, and we'll definitely be back next year. read more

Great spot! You can park and walk down to the field where the "tag ahead of time" trees are or take the tractor ride. Before embarking on the search they have a sign that maps out the types of trees, their characteristics, pricing and location which is a numbered grid. Very organized. After much debate we picked out our Christmas tree, had it measured and tagged by a nice young man. We paid cash right there, but you can also pay inside at the gift shop. Before leaving we always stop into the gift shop for a beautiful ornament. This is our fourth year visiting and it's become one of our favorite traditions. read more

I have bought trees there for the last few christmases and I've never been thrilled with their customer service. This will be my last time going there-tagged our tree in October (and had to traipse around to find someone to tag it)-I went today to get the tree-they didn't bother cutting the low branches off the trunk so i barely managed to get it in my stand and, of course, the tree won't stand up-it keeps falling over and I had to true it to a doorknob to get it to stand up-I paid $84 for this tree -why would they expect me to cut the lower branches to expose more trunk-also as soon as I touched it it felt dry and when I cut the twin off at home a bunch of dry needles came off, so I really doubt this tree was freshly cut-also, no help tying it to my car-next year I'll get a much cheaper tree from somewhere else read more

We've been coming here for years - partly for the beautiful trees, but even more the for the total experience. Take a long walk through their beautiful trees, gaze out over the acres of trees and fields beyond; get some hot cider, sniff the air, and step out of the holiday madness for a bit. There are families and decorations and lovely greenery everywhere. Beats any parking lot next to a big box store any day, and will put you into a totally different holiday frame of mind. A bit more money, but (1) our trees never fail to last all the way through the holidays without dropping a needle, they're so high quality and fresh. When we put it out for the recycling man it looks just as nice as when we got it. And (2) I like buying from a local farm and helping to keep it going - and also to keep the farmland as beautiful open space. And not - in RI fashion - being completely built up with yet more ugly, crappy development houses and asphalt parking lots. Go early to tag, take your kids, ride in the truck, bring a beautiful topper to mark your tree, and make getting the tree a whole new wonderful tradition. And your kids can see real trees, actually growing, in a gorgeous spot. So go to Henry's and find a whole new way to make your holidays peaceful, and meaningful, and do some good while you're at it. read more

If you're looking for a wide selection of tree types / sizes / and ability to tag ahead of time this is a great place. We have picked our family tree here for the last 5 years. In addition to Maria's review if she had spoken to the owner as I chatted with him today they are no longer planting Fraser fir variety as there is a disease / blight in the soil that they can not rid which affects Fraser fir growth. So what you see left is what you get. The lot up top (that I have picked a tree from before) is for people who show up on these too early dark nights after work as it is lit so people can still see to pick out a tree. We have loved Frasers in the past, but picked an equally nice Douglas fir today and hope to do so for many years to come. The tractor ride was a nice bonus for my son as this is the first year we were able to experience that. Ok, here's the deal about Henry's Tree Farm. I'm 32 y/o and I have been going here all my life The one Con is that they are a little expensive. About 50-70 bucks per tree. That's the only Con I have. It's not a Con for me but for some people it could be. And since I love this place i don't care about the price. Now for the Pro's. =) This place is historical. It's been over a hundred years with the same family running it. When you walk into the Gift Shop you instantly feel like it's Christmas. It has a woodsy cider smell that is very homey. (People that come here know exactly what I'm talking about!) When you go tag your tree in the Fall, they have free cold cider, and when you come pick it up in Winter they have free hot cider. The land they have is beautiful. You can take your car down and park or if the hay rides are running, you can do that. They have several species of tree's to choose from. It's really enjoyable for the whole family. I let the kids play hide and seek amongst the tree's every year and we take pictures together. Now you might be saying, "Why the hell would I pay for that every year when i could just get a fake one". True. But fake trees don't make memories. Your kids will LOVE this place. I have a step daughter I've raised for 12 years since she was 4 and a 6 y/o son. Last year my wife tossed the idea around of checking out another tree farm. I said it would break her heart. My wife laughed and said ' No it won't" So I said yeah ok. Watch this! I tell my step daughter. We're gonna go sompleace else this year, what do you think? She went quiet and then said how that's stupidest idea ever!! I looked at wife and said "told ya!" Henry's Tree Farm is a worthy place to start a family tradition.....And to the gentleman who said they didn't have free cider, I say BS. Open your eyes next time. Henry's has really nice trees. If you want a special tree from a local farm try Henry's. For a commodity tree at a discount price try Home Depot. I paid $150 for a really beautiful fat fragrant perfectly shaped fir tree which is a fair price given the size (11 ft high, 5-6 ft diameter) and quality of the tree that I picked out. They also have many smaller fir and spruce trees at significantly lower prices. Very friendly staff. read more

This would have been out third year tagging a tree at Henry's... but.... hardly any Frasier trees.... fields were bare.... fields with trees were no higher than 3-5ft.... so disappointed!!! We'd gone to another Christmas tree farm in 2015 based upon it's advertisement. When we arrived home with the tree, we found that it was very substandard, we couldn't get it in the stand. After repeated tries, called a friend who came over & immediately discovered that the tree was definitely not straight. Managed to get it in the stand, decorated and what not. Only then to also discover as days went on that the tree shed worse than any pet and the closer to Christmas the more it shed even with the continued watering. Ultimately, it was a Kojack tree. We'd asked for a Colorado Blue Spruce & never told this would occur. When we decided to go to Henry's in October to tag for cutting and pick up there was a very huge difference in the acres of trees, the outgoingness of the owner's wife as well as the gentleman who took us on the sort of hayride carriage towed by the tractor he was driving. Dropped us @ the spot where there were staff for assistance. We were told we should not choose a Colorado Blue Spruce due to the previous experience we had which they'd not even known. They also told us that they had not been planting those type of trees. We walked through the various areas & each time we saw the one we liked, it was tagged which meant it was already taken. Eventually we did find I treasured Christmas tree. Flagged the gentleman riding by in the pick up with the flag @ top of the measuring stick. He was tremendously outgoing also as his wife @ the front building. Tagged it, asked when we'd like to pick up, wrote the date & then gave us the papers to bring to the front building where we were told we could either pay the full amount or a deposit with balance due upon pick up. The day for pick up it snowed, I called to verify whether they were open & off course, come on in. They were very busy, cordial and would recommend them to anyone. Very disappointed after reading such great reviews. Nov. 29, 2015 we purchased a tree here. The only signs they have are to tell you that they don't accept credit or debit cards due to rising costs, but there is an atm machine inside. The disorder in getting around, getting the tree after you pick it out, and the older man at the outside table where you pay had no patience for any questions. He acted like we were in the way of him collecting his money; if there were signs we would have known where to go. Next year we will be going elsewhere. read more
