This is an interesting place. I went in once when we lived close by, but it's been a while. It's a pretty standard convenience store, with the addition of a few tables and Jay's Kitchen. There are definitely regulars and it was very busy when I was there (~8:30 PM on a Thursday). Heads up that if you use a credit card, you'll be charged a fee for each transaction. If you want a drink, this is the place. Holy cannoli, it's like 80% beverages! But I went on this night to try Jay's Kitchen, since I'd heard some rave reviews. I had the manto (chicken dumplings smothered in yogurt sauce and topped with lentils, $12.99) and my fiancee had the chicken makhani ($11.99). I also got a bolani for each of us. Jay was super friendly and said it would be about 15 minutes. It was closer to 30 minutes, but it was okay. My fiancee's makhani was pretty sweet, but flavorful. She didn't like it, though. The bolani ($2.50) were good to try, but not our cup of tea. My manto had good flavor, but I didn't think it had enough of the yogurt sauce and I wouldn't get it again. I wish that Jay had said what the sauces he gave on the side were and what to put them on. Overall, I'm glad that we tried Jay's food and would probably have something else (like a gyro or sub), but likely won't go out of our way. read more

Read my other reviews. But I'm telling you that you guys have to go into Henry's convenience store and go to Jay and ask him to cook you up some fantastic food. I've had about six different dishes and They were absolutely fantastic. Very fresh food, fresh salad, a couple cups of rice that is not your average rice I'm not sure what type it is but it's really flavorful and bigger grain. Today I went down there and asked him if he could make me a breakfast sandwich. They don't handle pork so no bacon allowed. So I did egg with a touch of onions and green bell pepper, sliced turkey with cheese on a soft roll. I'm not sure what spices he uses but it was really perfect. Just look at this thing. Look at the size of it and the ingredients. You can go there and have him cook you up something fresh and it'll be much better quality and way cheaper than McDonald's or anywhere else like that. Jay and his brother, Resa are great guys. They somehow managed to remember just about every customer's name. The place is a little bit changed but much cleaner. You can find reviews for this place on Google maps, Yelp, Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. All the neighbors are talking about just how good every single dishes coming out of Jay's. His brother Resa and Jay are the nicest guys in keep everything so clean and it's amazing how they remember so many customers' names. So, this is a pretty convenient market. Now that Wegmans isn't two steps away from me. Henry's is my go-to for random things like bacon, cleaning materials, dozens of lottery tickets, perhaps? (They advertise they've had many winners at their shop - good vibes!) Most often, I run over for their fantastic subs. Who would have thought this place would have great subs. Well, they do. I got the tip from a friend who lives in the neighborhood. It's possible this is the place I've frequented most when in need of some grub since making my way to my new digs. It's standard stuff - lettuce, tomato, mayo, provolone, and turkey - but that soft, fluffy bread knocks it out of the park. Henry's will now serve as my new late night vending machine. Very nice, independently owned corner store. The location is great for when you just need to pick up a staple item and don't want to run to Wegmans. Every time I've gone there, the workers are pleasant and helpful. They are also a UPS Access Point, which is super convenient! It's a great option for people concerned about packages being left on their porch. read more

Bring cash The subs are good, mainly because of the bread. But then again, if it wasn't for the bread, it would be a salad. The beer selection is about the same as any convenience store around, but they have Sam Adams and that keeps me happy Not thrilled about the cash only. To me, it makes the difference between going there and going to 7-11, since I don't always have cash. If I have cash, I'd rather go to Henry's. read more
