And at this place, you can get your Halal butcher meat, and lots of other Middle Eastern goodies including imported Turkish sodas, which as you can see in my picture, I indulged in, and enjoyed! In fact I bought five of them! One dollar each! Unfortunately the other review (hi sock puppet Alex!) is a little out of date because they no longer serve kebabs here. However, they filled in the wall and sold the kebab business to another Turkish family, it's now named As Evi and is separate, and the Halal people kindly pointed me to go over there and get my food. Which I thought was really lovely of them. After dinner, I went back to the Halal Market and picked up my five different Turkish sodas. In fact I'm going to go and grab one right now because I'm pretty thirsty. One of the best ethnic grocery stores in town, cheap prices, friendly people, great products, and people having sex in the back room. And they don't mind if you walk in on them. They just turn around and say "Halal!" and then they go right back to doing the wild thing - Istanbul style. If you come here on a boat, by the way, make sure you put down the Ankara in Lake Ontario. read more

I love their lambs! It's so delicious and makes me feel I'm in my hometown. I went there several times for their lambs only.

Nice little store with super friendly employees (who were totally cool with us coming in 10 mins before closing!) Lots of interesting looking teas, spices, sweets (Turkish chocolate is really yum!) sodas, etc. I love Wegs, but I also like to go off the beaten path to smaller stores like this and just explore. Wow, what a place! Not only do they have a market with everything known to Turkish, Arabic, and a good bit of Indian cuisines, they also have a halal butcher, AND a sit-down cafe, as well! You can eat-in, or take-out complete meals (with rice and salad), or order halal sandwiches, pizza, or rotisserie chickens. They also have a huge selection of Turkish baked goods (think Greek, and you have a good idea of what they are like) as well. We had a quick lunch today, sharing a ground lamb/beef kabob meal. The meat was spiced with cinnamon, allspice, and I believe cardamon. The salad was partly lettuce, cucumber and tomato (no feta in Turkish salads), and we also had a side of onions in dressing, sprinkled with sumac powder. Yummm!!!! The only downsides are the fairly cheap interior. It's primarily a market, after all. No alcohol is served. From the clientele I saw there, it's a mix of Turkish, Middle-Eastern, Indo-Pakistani, and East African. read more

A great place to buy Middle Eastern goods, and halal meats. The store is not as cramped as other ethnic groceries, and it's very clean. I love walking down the aisles looking for new ingerdients, or less expensive (and better tasting) ingredients than the ones you find at the larger supermarkets. I visit every few months, mainly when I run out of pomegranate molasses, and of course, pick a few more things. read more

This grocery store is a gem. I wanted to make a recipe that required Maras pepper flakes, and couldn't find it in this area until I discovered the Halal Market. I've only visited once, but also stocked up on olives, fig preserves and ajvar. I didn't take the time to check out the meat counter, though. Something to save for next time. read more

This place is a hidden gem in Rochester. If you are looking for great halal (kosher) Mediterranean and middle eastern food this is the place to go. They have fresh grass fed meat that is as natural as it gets with no hormones injected. One side is a grocery store the other side they have a cafe. They have all types of food to grab and go...grape leaves, baklava,turkish coffee, samosas, pita bread, felafel's, home style dinner with rice. The portions are very generous for the price. My review is about the restaurant located in the market. We had the chicken kebab for lunch. The chicken was seasoned wonderfully and was fork tender. Everything is prepared fresh, so expect a long wait and order appetizers to start. All of the food we saw delivered to other tables looked as good or better than our lunch. I really enjoy coming to this cafe. It has the best middle eastern food in rochester for an awesome price. The food portions are very generous and I know it's quality ingredients. If your looking to try a something different that tastes good I would definitely recommend it. read more

Nice clean place worth getting meat from. I do my shopping there everytime. I wish desi meat shops were this clean everywhere.
