I am Lisa Salazar (owner of Henry's Grocery) I would like to respond to the 6 negative reviews that we received in 2011. I would have responded to them sooner but I just became familiar with Yelp reviews. First of all, we are a family owned business that have been operating for 30 years. We ALWAYS welcome customers whether it be our regulars or out of the area. We are very small and we DON'T have public restrooms but on this particular day we were bombarded with a large group of people asking to use the restroom....although it is against our policy because the restroom is behind the sales counter, we said yes because we were trying to accommodate them. The group gathered in the store and blocked our beer coolers and counter so that our regular customers could not get through and my husband asked them to wait outside and go to the restroom one at a time. One of them was not happy about this and cussed at him. That's where the hospitality stops. He told the whole group to leave and ended up having to call the Sheriff's Department because they became hostile and wouldn't leave the parking lot. The Sheriff's department arrived and told them leave. It is a shame that people come in to someone's business and act the way they did. read more

I was having an excellent day driving through Skyline with other members of an auto club I am in, when our group decided to stop for some refreshments at Henry's Groceries. I had not even had a chance to enter the store when one of the other members of the club came out of the store and said the clerk was calling the Sheriff. Dumbfounded, I stood in front of the store until the gun toting clerk appeared in the doorway blocking the entrance and would not allow anyone else to enter. Soon after, the Sheriff showed up with lights blazing but (I'm sure to the clerks surprise) their attention was on the clerk with the side arm and not on us. We all left without incident after being asked to leave by the Sheriff still wondering what the heck just happened. I'm not sure what the rationale is blocking customers or potential customers from spending money in your establishment, but perhaps this guy should take some business 101 courses. Needless to say I would never make an attempt to go in there again. Avoid this place at all costs. If I could give 0 stars for this review, I would. read more

Its a shame in this day and age that any small business would turn away customers yet thats exactly what happened when we mistakenly stopped at Henry's grocery today. A beautiful fall day and we chose to spend it driving thru the lovely Skyline dr with our family when my wife started to get a headache so we stopped at Henry's the first place I could find in the hopes of finding her some relief. After her purchase we were rewarded with an invitation from the "clerk" to leave or he will call the police. dumbfounded we left the store and returned to our car and before we could drive off the local sheriff pulls up and orders us to leave. The "clerk" who confronted police with a HANDGUN proudly displayed on his right hip and his hand placed on it then turned into the officers main concern. I only prey for the officers safety when confronted by the gun toting "clerk" STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE UNLESS YOU WANT A GUN POINTED AT YOUR CHILDREN! read more

After a perfect day of driving through Skyline with my friends of a respectful local car club, we decided to stop here for a break to get something to eat and drink. We were greated by a civilian with an open carry firearm in the parking lot. Without saying anything or provoking him in anyway, he decided to call the local sheriff's department. As the sheriffs arrived, we were asked to leave by the sheriff's department as their focus was now on the idiot with the open carry firearm. Guess the store doesn't want any money from paying customers. I guess there is no such thing as southern hospitality at this local store and they don't appreciate customers that what to buy their merchandise. read more

My second time writing a review as my first one got deleted.....I went into this establishment last Saturday, 10/22/11 to purchase some refreshments and possibly use the rest room. the clerk/owner/who ever decided that my money and the group of people I was with was not worthy of patronizing his business so he put a gun on his belt and then called the police. We did nothing wrong other than to go on a nice drive through the mountains and then to Henry's Place to get refreshments and use the restroom.....we were nice and polite but this place does not believe in any type of hospitality..... read more

After having a great day with some friends driving through the mountains, we decided to stop at Henry's Grocery in Front Royal....Little did we know that after purchasing some drinks and snacks the clerk with a hand gun on his hip called the Sheriff. Either he had a problem taking our money or he was just having a bad day because he decided to call the Sheriff. He for some reason felt the need to wear a gun on his belt and when the Sheriff showed up the clerk got himself into some trouble with that big gun on his belt.
