This review goes out to Doctor Esther Tow-der: I had a very disappointing experience with this OB/GYN. My appointment was scheduled for 3:30 p.m., but I was not seen until nearly 6:00 p.m. I understand that delays can happen in medical settings, especially in obstetrics, but waiting over two hours without meaningful communication or updates felt extremely unprofessional and inconsiderate of my time. When I was finally seen, the interaction itself was equally frustrating. The doctor's demeanor came across as dismissive and rude. I did not feel welcomed or respected as a patient. The exam was very minimal -- she listened to my lungs and checked the baby's heartbeat, but that was essentially the extent of the visit. There was no thorough assessment, no detailed discussion, and no proactive approach to my care. I had to advocate for myself and specifically request a Pap smear, which I believe should have been addressed without me having to push for it. Instead of feeling supported and guided, I felt as though my concerns were brushed aside. At several points, her responses made me feel unintelligent for asking questions, which is unacceptable in a healthcare setting where patients should feel safe and informed. I left the office feeling tired, hungry, aggravated, and honestly embarrassed. Prenatal care is supposed to be a reassuring experience, and this visit was the opposite. I hope this feedback encourages improvements in both time management and patient communication, because no patient should leave an appointment feeling dismissed or belittled. read more

I had a very disappointing experience with this OB office. During my first visit, I waited in the lobby for 3 hours just to be seen. When I was finally called back, the doctor did not check on my baby at all and instead performed a Pap smear, even though I had recently had one done. There was little to no interest shown in my pregnancy, which was very concerning. On another occasion, I experienced bleeding during my pregnancy and went to the hospital. I was advised to follow up with my OB right away. I called the office hoping to be seen urgently, but still had to wait about 40 minutes in the waiting room after arriving. When I was finally seen, the doctor appeared to be in a bad mood and did not review my lab work or ultrasounds. I felt dismissed and not taken seriously during a very critical time in my pregnancy. I ultimately had to change my insurance and provider, and only then found out that my pregnancy is considered high-risk--something that should have been identified and addressed much earlier. Overall, I felt unheard, overlooked, and poorly cared for. I would not recommend this office, especially for anyone seeking attentive and thorough prenatal care read more

Extremely Poor Customer Service & Zero Compassion There is a reason this office has 2 stars on Google and Yelp. If you are in pain, have an infection, or need an emergency visit, do not expect to be accommodated--not same day, not even the same week. Their lack of urgency and compassion is alarming. I was pregnant, had an infection, and urgently needed medication. Dr. Rodeffer forgot to send my prescription to the pharmacy. When I called the next day, the receptionist Maricela answered and was incredibly rude. She told me she "sent a message to the doctor" and that someone would get back to me in 24-72 hours. I tried explaining that I'm pregnant and need the medication ASAP and asked to speak with someone in the back. She repeatedly interrupted me, rudely saying they were "busy in the back," and refused to transfer me to a supervisor. After insisting multiple times, she finally transferred me to some kind of back-office lead, who told me the same thing--that I had to wait 24-72 hours--even though this was their mistake and they admitted the prescription wasn't even put in their system yet by the Dr. Rodeffer. I understand there are limitations to what a receptionist can do without a doctor, but the lack of compassion, accountability, and basic human decency is unacceptable. Maricela always sounds like she hates her job and everyone she deals with--she is consistently angry and dismissive. I had to call three separate times just to speak with the office manager, Lisa. When she finally called me back, instead of asking about my experience or how I was treated, she immediately accused me of being rude to Maricela. She showed zero interest in hearing my side of the story. Her attitude was just as bad, if not worse. Honestly, she is the last person who should be managing an office. A decent office manager would ask about the customer's experience and then make a judgement. In this case, Lisa didn't even bother to ask how I was treated poorly by Maricela and continued to be dismissive. Someone needs to teach these two the legal implications of their actions. They don't even have a basic medical knowledge that delays in addressing a known infection during pregnancy raise serious concerns. Failing to timely address medically urgent conditions may expose patients to unnecessary risk and may fall below accepted standards of care. Situations like this can have legal and liability implications when appropriate treatment or follow-up is not provided in a reasonable timeframe. In basic terminology, the staff of this office don't care whatsoever about how you feel or your health! On top of the horrible customer service, the wait times are outrageous. Expect 2-3 hours minimum. Even when I scheduled far in advance and specifically booked the first appointment of the day, I still waited 45 minutes to over an hour. They clearly overbook and have no respect for patients' time. Once I became pregnant, sitting for hours with back pain and discomfort made it even more unbearable. The ultrasound technician would take me in right on time and I would get everything done with her, then I had to sit on the uncomfortable patient chairs in the rooms for hours! The only positive thing I can say is that I loved seeing Dr. Acera--she is kind and patient, and very knowledgeable. I'm sad that she is part of this practice. Save yourself the stress and go somewhere that actually values patients, take emergency situations seriously, and take ownership for their own failed responsibilities. read more

Came in for a 2:30 women's physical appt. Came early checked in by 2:22. Easy enough. After 2 checks, they said there were two patients ahead of me, they finally brought me back but it is now I hr 15 mins past my appt time. This is the office that if you don't call on time to cancel they charge you. I should charge them!. This is truly an insane wait time. Find someone else. Yelp makes you give a star but honestly no star is what I would give. read more

I was admitted to the ER on August 31st, where Dr. Tilstra personally asked me to become his patient and said he would take me on. During my hospital stay, he gave very specific instructions that all medications and next steps had to go through him directly. On Monday, he sent an on-call doctor to check on me and said he would return Tuesday. However, Tuesday came and went with no visit from him, and another on-call doctor had to come at 9 p.m. Even though I was extremely sick and needed medication adjustments, he did not respond to hospital staff requests. This left me feeling completely dismissed and neglected as a patient. On the day of discharge, Dr. Tilstra told the nurses they could release me without giving me the necessary medication -- or I could wait until he finished all of his surgeries and then he would discharge me with antibiotics. This kind of "power trip" is unacceptable and, in my opinion, highly unethical in the medical field. Patients deserve attentive, compassionate care -- not to feel like a burden or bargaining chip. Based on my experience, I would not recommend Dr. Tilstra. read more

Zero Child in Office Policy. I wanted to make an appt to establish myself as a patient. I went through all the steps to make an appt and was lastly told they have a zero child in office policy. I was absolutely baffled. This is an OBGYN family planning space that prohibits family from being in the office. There are moms who have ZERO child care because of circumstances beyond their control, yet still want care. What do we do then? Before, offices always had "kid corners" now you don't even see those anymore, but to go as far as to ban infants and children from an OBGYN office. I only have 1 child and wanted to be seen. I came here in hopes of avoiding any golden valley OBGYN since they tend to have a bad rep. Unfortunately it wasn't a great experience. You'll be waiting over an hour past your scheduled appointment time. When you finally do get seen by the doctor its a quick, lets check babies heart beat and bye. No longer than a two minute appointment. Any time you want a doctor's note it's $15. Out of the several doctors that work there you'll meet with most of them and out of the 5 I meet I would say only one of them seemed to care. I missed an important blood test that I needed to do at the beginning of my pregnancy which I wasn't aware of missing. It wasn't brought to my attention until 6 months later when I met the same doctor from my first appointment there. I asked her why wasn't I informed earlier of the missed blood test if it was so important and she said usually the doctors just look at their own notes from previous appointments. read more

Waited a hour + after being in my small paper gown, sitting on the uncomfortable table(1 month after back surgery) to finally have Dr Richardson come in and tell me 2 out of 4 Drs called off today. I would have appreciated had my medical assistant not told me she would be in shortly, instead advised me she was running quite behind when Dr finally showed up she said since my Pap smear was good two years ago I probably don't need one. Anyhow she wanted to get home as she was running late to groom her dog. She had a photo shoot that night for in Sacramento. Very disappointing, a minimal exam. read more

I'm in week 29 of pregnancy and changed OB offices just last week due to Hera's lack of care, treatment and knowledge. Despite the rude doctors .. I'll keep the review short and simple for readers : I was misdiagnosed with gestational diabetes ( retested with new OB and numbers are perfect after begging hera to give me a retest I waited 1-2 hours per visit , each visit for my scheduled apt ... BP are taken manually and almost 9.5/10 they said " okay it reads 120/70 " .... Every time. Unfortunately these doctors don't care what YOU say as a person... more so " I'm the doctor you need to listen to me " kind of place. Wouldn't recommend . read more

The doctors here are, for the most part, not the problem. The front desk ladies are soooo rude. I've been coming here for my entire pregnancy, so over the span of 9-10 months, and they are always in some sort of mood. They always give attitude to patients who are just here trying to receive care. They act like they don't want to do their jobs and it's so unfair to us patients. This office has 5-7 different doctors which will deliver your baby depending on who's on call that day. Over the 9 month period I've been coming, the ladies have only scheduled me to meet TWO of the 7 doctors, even when i requested meeting with a doctor i hadn't met yet due to me trying to meet everyone before I give birth. I was just met with an insane amount of attitude, she acted like I just insulted her. I'm just a patient trying to receive care. I have waited in their waiting room for TWO HOURS after being told i'd be called shortly then once asking hey like a lot of people have gone before me and I've been here a while they had completely ignored and forgotten about me. The 2 front desk girls talk about the patients in Spanish right in front of you. It's been just a terrible experience coming here and I wish there was a better place or way to let people know about the way they will be treated if they choose this office. I come in and treat them kindly and with patience, yet I am always met with rude attitudes. Honestly, look else where. I wish I had. read more

THIS PLACE IS A JOKE. I had an appointment scheduled at 8:45 am and I walk in and the front desk staff looks grumpy and unwilling to help. They snicker back and forth in Spanish regarding patient only assuming because they look white we must not know what they're saying. Back to the appointment times, I've been sitting here for 45 minutes and have not been called back. There's no point in making an appointment if they're not gonna stick to the appointed time. This isn't the only time I've had an extensive wait. I've sat in the front lobby for 30 minutes and another 45 min in the back office thinking someone forgot about me because it got so close to closing time. Absolutely ridiculous. The OB's are not that bad if the front desk staff would remember to notate things that are called in about. I had a miscarriage last year and upon arrival the doctor congratulated me on my pregnancy and I had to inform her I had a miscarried. She didn't know because front staff that I called and told never wrote any of the information I called about in my chart. If you can go to or find another OBGYN I highly recommend it. read more

ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE! I would never recommend this place in a million years! Had 2 appointments in one week for ultrasounds with them never telling me what was wrong or going over results from my blood tests the week before. I ended up in the ER with a miscarriage and stayed overnight from complications. Had a follow up with them the next week while still being in excruciating pain. I waited in the room naked and cold for an hour with no one coming in to see me. I got up and left. The office staff was all miserable and not helpful in anyway. Stay away from this place if you can! If anyone knows a lawyer let me know, I would sue them in a heartbeat! read more

I made a appointment for Oct. 9,2023 and I called them to verify I had one. They told no but I had one on Nov.9,2023 at 9 AM. So I showed up today early for my appointment and to my surprise I did not have one. I did not want to get ugly and nasty so I maintain my cool and I asked what happen the girl did not know what to say to me. But she afford me to see another Doctor (mine was not even in ) I said no I'll pass on that. So, they made me another app. for Feb. 2024 and I said I having female issues now. DO NOT RECOMMEND! SAVE YOURSELF THE STRESS! THIS PLACE IS THE WORST! The only reason I'm giving 1 star is because there's no option for negative stars! Staff is always moody and miserable. In particular the receptionist in charge of checking people in. She is extremely rude and has made me feel uncomfortable on several occasions. I also witnessed her hassle a pregnant woman who was simply trying to check in for her appointment. The (very pregnant) woman was extremely upset! On this particular visit I was told that I could not be seen because my 2 year old son was with me. I was never notified that I had to come alone, not when I scheduled my appointment nor when they called to confirm my appointment. I asked to speak with a manager. This woman was very condescending and not willing to help at all. I explained to her that I am a single parent with no option for daycare and that no one ever notified me of their policy. This woman had zero remorse and didn't care to understand my circumstances. In fact, she leaned in towards me (as if talking down on me) and said "I don't care, the doctor will not be seeing you! Don't come back!" I don't recommend this establishment to ANY WOMAN! Pregnant or not! Your appointment time doesn't matter because they're always running at least 30 minutes late and you'll always be met with aggression. read more

Rita the ultrasound tech, is very aggressive, rude and has the worst attitude. This is my 3rd pregnancy. I had my first appointment & then they scheduled me for an ultrasound. Very eager for this appointment! Very exciting moment to finally see & hear your baby's heartbeat. What should be a very genuine and joyful experience. Well, Rita. Apparently wasn't having a great day. The attitude and way I was treated by her was absolutely unacceptable. I went to my ultrasound. I was supposed to be 10 weeks due to my last period. Rita called me back from the lobby, we were walking back to the room when she said something like "so you are 10 weeks" to which I replied "I think I maybe less, but I'm not sure" making small talk because I too, work in the medical field and I just thought that's what we were doing. Making small talk on the way to my ultrasound. Rita didn't like what I said I guess & her demeanor changed towards me completely. Her voice is louder, and told me then you're too early. You need to come back, so then I tried to tell her I was unsure, and I really didn't know. I even showed her my "Flo" app to show her my last period and how I had spotted the month after. But she wasn't having it and just telling me to reschedule. She was awkwardly like paced the floor back and forth and then told a lady in a nearby room, that I needed to come back & that lady actually told her, "well she's her for her scheduled appointment, then she should have her appointment " but Rita ignored her & kept being extremely rude to me. I was in shock. I am a very non-confrontational person, so this was left field for me. I've never experienced a medical professional being so hostile with me or anyone actually. So this is saying a lot. So I asked her "are you saying you won't do my ultrasound" then she said "no I don't want too, I'll just have to do it again in 2 weeks" I was like well this is your job to measure my baby at this appointment. I am unsure. Can we please move this along. And she was still very persistent on NOT doing her job that she woke up that morning to do. So I walked to the receptionist because I was shaking and I didn't want her to see my cry. The receptionist wasn't very nice either when I asked if I could please have another ultrasound tech do my ultrasound because Rita was refusing to do her job. Then as I was standing there, Rita comes behind her and shakes her head at me and says don't assign her to me or something in that context. When I was asking for somebody else to please help me. The attitude was just soooo unnecessary! I finally was able to get an appt the same day. But I ended up leaving to my car to try to gather myself. Bianca called me not too long after, and she turned my appointment around. Thank you so much, Bianca! She seemed very caring on the phone, could hear my voice still shaking and told me to take my time coming back to the office. My whole experience with her was wonderful. I wish all ultrasounds techs could be just like her, Rita really needs a class on how to have some human decency and how to treat people. I also ended up being 11 weeks & 5 days. So the whole situation was just uncalled for & really seemed like Rita didn't want to do her job, since she actually told me that to my face!!! Who does that?! I would've came back in 2 weeks if it was up to her, idk who she got her doctorate degree from?? But I would have been almost 14 weeks at that time! Working in the medical field. You should have a compassionate heart & be empathic. Especially if you're an ultrasound tech. You don't know what women have been through!! How long they have been waiting for this sweet baby, how many tries & losses it took. Never assume! I am just very disheartened by this experience. And I really wish nobody else has to go through what I did. The arguing back and forth with a medical professional isn't something I wanted on that joyous day that I was going to see my baby got the first time. She lost her compassion for this job, and I believe she needs to find a new one where she doesn't have to work with anyone. I understand bad days, but you don't take it out on your patient. I love Dr.Acera!!!! At first when coming to this place I didn't like that every time you came in you will be seen by a different doctor. They told me that they want everyone to meet all the doctors they have because on the day of labor, your main Obgyn may not be on call. So that I get, but still when meeting so many doctors you don't feel that doctor and patient connection. That's the reason i dropped one star. Day finally came when I was introduced to Dr. Acera. She is so nice and knowledgeable! She really makes you feel comfortable and makes it easier to open up about any problems! I absolutely recommend her!! My primary sent me up with an appointment that was maybe a month out, no big deal. I arrived at my appointment that day and I was informed that my appointment had been rescheduled. There was no attempt made to contact me to reschedule this appointment. The next appointment was scheduled maybe another month out no big deal. They'll insist you arrive 15 minutes early to do paperwork. Due to covid we wait in our car, no big deal. But here I am 45 minutes later still sitting in my car waiting to be called into the office. That means that I have been sitting here for an hour to see a doctor who already canceled my appointment once. I'm sure these are very nice people, but I can tell you the office is poorly managed. While I do appreciate the need for patience and grace the pandemic, I also know there are ways to avoid hour long waits to see a doctor. read more

Horrible service, very unprofessional, called my daughter a bitch! My daughter went to Hera OB-GYN Medical Group on Coffee Rd. for her scheduled appointment with Dr. Hopkins. She checked in with the receptionist who told her she owed $190. My daughter was unaware of this and asked if she could be billed. The receptionist insisted to my daughter they had called her the day before and made her aware of the payment to which my daughter told her she was not told of the fee, but had been called only to reschedule her appointment. At this time the ultrasound technician Rita told my daughter "you're lying," and stated she was present when they called my daughter. At this time my daughter becomes upset and tries to explain once again that she was only called by staff to reschedule her appointment and asked if they could mail her a bill. The receptionist spoke to the manager who agreed to mail a bill. My daughter was called to the back and overheard the ultrasound tech Rita speaking with the manager Jennifer Golding and calling my daughter "a bitch." My daughter asked that they not refer to her as a bitch at which time Rita started yelling at her saying "I don't care." The manager Jennifer asked to speak to my daughter and promised her she would address the issue. However it's very was unprofessional, appalling and disgusting that the manager was engaging in this behavior with the ultrasound tech. Rita was also the ultrasound technician scheduled to see my daughter, needless to say my daughter did not want Rita to provide her with any medical treatment. Jennifer informed my daughter they would refer her elsewhere. Very unprofessional medical group, till today we still have not received a call to apologize or address the situation. She just moved to the area from San Diego and was told the drs were wonderful and professional. How can they speak of their patients in this manner. read more

Dr Tow is horrible. Didn't go to Hera but she was covering for my doctor. I was trying for a VBAC and she stood in the corner of the room with her arms crossed, saying things like 'well YOU wanted this, so YOU need to do it". The nurse said my daughter hasn't descended enough and recommending letting her come down but Dr Tow made me push because I was "the one who wanted a VBAC." I opted for a c section just so she would leave and I could get my doctor to do it. I'd never felt so humiliated and belittled in my life. read more

I waited over an hour for a follow-up office visit for her to go over my ultrasound results just to get pissed off because of the ridiculous wait time! My appointment was at 3:45pm, I got there in ample time at 3:30 to check in, I didn't get called back in till 4:00 and then waited patiently in the room till 4:25 and still no service. I peaked out of the room to see how much longer and a staff member said I was next to be seen. After another 15 minutes waiting, I was annoyed and was not going to wait any longer. As I left pissed off, the same staff member that checked me in saw me and just shrugged me off when I told her I couldn't wait any longer and told her this appointment was a waste of my time and $ copayment.
