I love my little local nursery. They have a good selection of everything. They have an extensive supply of planting pots, landscape plants, house plants, seasonal plants, mulch, soil and amendments. They also have a good selection of gift ideas for the plant lover and decor for inside and outside. They have a garden club you can join and save on purchases. It's always clean and well organized. And they also always have it well staffed so there are people to help with loading or plant questions. It's fun to go and just wonder around. It's surprisingly large especially considering how close to downtown it is. The prices are very reasonable. Sometimes nurseries can be very over priced. Not here. Sometimes I get way better deals here than at Home Depot. The selection and variety is much better than at the big box stores. They have ample parking and a friendly staff. Used to be great! Now is just okay. Me and family would drive from bluffton to savannah because of their amazing interior plant selection. At the time the store looked like a magical conservatory but in recent trips, the store has dwindled drastically in size and very rarely restocks and rarely with anything interesting. After talking to one of the employees it seems that is the direction the owners are going in? Perhaps there was a change in ownership? It's quite sad as the store used to be a destination. Truth: This is one of the best nurseries I have found. The Sandfly location is my favorite. Are you an experienced gardener? A dabbler in the green arts? A complete newbie who routinely kills everything you have ever loved in a pot? Well, fear not. Herb Creek is here to help. Just ask for "Brad" who is the most encyclopedic member on the payroll. The man knows e-v-e-r-y-t-h-i-n-g and (Bonus!) he loves his work. Turning you on to a plant is what he does best and then he will tell you how to take care of your new found leafy friend. He once convinced me to buy a tree and I wasn't even looking for a tree!! THAT is the power of The Brad. I envy those nurturing types who can make a garden flourish with a wish and a prayer - sadly I am not one of them. I ended up at Herb Creek with one of these green-thumbed geniuses, hoping to hurry through the errand. Instead, I actually enjoyed my visit - leaving with a car full of plant life and plans to return. My friend said the prices were excellent - much less than she's accustomed to paying - and the indoor shop had a variety of "extras" including tools, pottery, food, insecticides, birdseed, and so on. What I liked seeing was the very knowledgeable and helpful employees/owners giving so much love and attention to the plants themselves...which is probably the reason that everything looks so vibrantly healthy. Just wandering through and seeing the splashes of color was a nice way to spend an afternoon. Almost makes me want to try my hand at the whole gardening thing again... Highly recommended. read more

Cool nursery/landscaping shop out towards Skidaway Island. We went specifically looking for herbs and an olive tree, and they had excellent selection of both. The herbs are better priced than Lowe's or Home Depot as others have said. Frankly if you want to make pesto or something you should probably buy your cooking herbs here. I was getting some work done on my car @Barry's yesterday and decided I would walk over to Herb Creek and get some ideas for my yard. I was completely WOWED with soooooo many ideas and products and flowers and plants and I could just go on and on. Then "Carol", garden expert came to assist me and explained in full detail every issue I thought I had and provided several suggestions to my dilemmas. From seasonal to how to grow when not in season. She was absolutely amazing. The prices are amazing as well. I figured it to be exorbitant in price due to the fact that the variety was massive but no, not at all. Finally I'm going to have a beautiful backyard this fall! I'm sooooo soooo exited. I can't wait to get started! You cannot go wrong if you start at Herb Creek. Just don't forget to water .... if you have an idea, they can improve on it. Customer Service is not very good. Bought plants/shrubs and after several weeks shrubs died. Went back and asked about warranty. They have a 90 warranty but no one would replace shrubs. Left several messages for Manager to call, but no one has returned my calls. Does not seem like they are interested in repeat customers. read more

I have two major reasons for rating this Nursery with only 2 stars. 1) Selection is sparse. You aren't really going to find heirloom varietals or many options. They have a lot of what they do offer but your limited to a couple brands and sometimes you are forced to buy 6 tomato plants when you want maybe two or three different varietals but that would mean getting 12-18 plants. For our family's situation we just don't need that many tomato plants but someone in my family likes cherry tomatoes and someone else likes beef eater and so on. This just wasn't the nursery for us. We couldn't find the options we were looking for. 2) Customer service is just ok. Some of the people out in the actual outdoor garden are nice and more than willing to offer their expertise and share their knowledge and help you find what you need but alternatively the individual that I find behind the counter every time I go is not very nice or helpful. This person has a very detectable attitude. I honestly feel bad for them. Maybe they hate their job or tough stuff is happening in their life. I don't know why they are unpleasant but I often find it uncomfortable to ask questions or request soil. Sometimes I need help making a decision like how many bags of soil to get or if one tool is better than another or if I can be accommodated in some way and truthfully I find this person completely disinterested in helping me or finding someone who can. This person makes me feel crappy and almost always when I take this person's advice I find that I have a problem. Like they say I only need one bag of soil when in reality I need 2-3. 3) One more: this nursery is kind of pricey. I've never paid as much for soil as I do at this store. They have more than one location. The other is on Victory on the way to Tybee. I've tried really hard to support a local business and keep it local and not go to a big box store like Home Depot but I just can't take my business here anymore. I don't believe in this business and every time I leave I feel crappy about spending my money there. No more. read more

I highly recommend that you stay away from this company. They do have some wonderful and unique plants and the staff is generally nice, but I have had one of the worst experiences recently. My wife and I saved up to purchase perennials for our yard. We went to Herb Creek and asked for an expert to help us. Several hours and hundreds of dollars later we had our order and, due to the size, arranged for delivery. The items came, the order was short with a promise for more, and planting commenced. It took a whole day. When we went to pick up the items that were shorted we found out that some of what we had planted were not perennials but annuals and that there were no perennials currently available. We called the owner for resolution. He first suggested that I was at fault for not having read the tags on the plants. I countered that I did not read them because they had been selected for me. He then said he "would fire the single mother of 2 making $11 an hour if that would make me happy." I was shocked. I asked for a recommendation from the owner of how we could resolve the problem. He asked for my suggestion. I asked for credit for the annuals and the delivery fee. He agreed, but he wants the plants back. So he is coming to dig out the plants from my garden and give me approximately 10% of my bill in credit! I urge anyone who is serious about their yard and garden to stay as far away from these people as is possible. read more

Great products. Very good selection. Very knowledgeable people about the plants. I wish I could say the same about their customer service people at the front desk. We purchased $1400 worth of productwhich included delivery installation. After a snafu with the delivery, I went to Their Victory Dr. store this morning to determine the issue. I was told that my installation would now be several hundred dollars more, and several weeks pushed back. This information was coming from a young woman who was the same person who took her order 10 days ago. Her only comment was "I'm sorry that you did not realize that there be an additional charge". I asked to speak to the owner, Ami. Conveniently, she was in a meeting although I could see her from the front desk. Sorry folks but that is just poor customer service. And this is coming from a customer of about 12 years at your other facility in sandfly. I guess a $1400 order is not that important to you. The irony is that was about the first third of plants that are required and I expect my order will probably top closer to $5000 by the time I finish. It's too bad I won't be using your company, three days... now follow up from Ami the manager. Business must be really, really good. read more

Loved this nursery and the sales people. Picked out aprox $1000 of plant material. Paid about half that for delv and install. The Call back on installation date was strained. The word probably was used for to be planting date. I felt was unreasonable amount of time. Worked that out. They use Low Country Landscape Co. for install which is a branch of the business. Day of install. 3 guys, very rushed. This was a small court yard and the placement of a small tree was important. Also 2 espalier camellias. OK they dug hole...did not ask if it was good etc.. off by 2 ft. And 1 ft back, two camellias 2 ft to far front Other small plants stuffed in exact size holes very unlovingly, and stomped down. I don't get it vines were planted a foot away from the wall. The Forman of the crew had major anxiety that I had no idea where I wanted plants, let's plant the big first. Then I was kept busy and rushed keeping up with the three guys. There was no stopping them. I think the whole install took 30 mins.. a rake was never used soil was left, not stomped down was left. OKI should have said hold up and slow down. ! OK, I will give them 40 minutes. Empty pots on truck gone. I don't know. ! I feel flimflammed. read more

I hate that I have to give them a 1 star review but they've given me no choice. I've been buying from Herb Creek for 12 years, most everyone there knows me, and while their prices are rather high, I always try and support locally owned businesses. This summer I waited 3 months for them to get in the trees I wanted, I picked out the exact ones I wanted with Steven, and then went to pay for them. After I'd put my credit card into the reader Ashley told me warrantee was shorter than what I was told three days before, price was $100 higher than the day before and I also had to buy the fertilizers they wanted me to buy. Even though I was still will to pay the higher prices, when I made a comment about all the changes, I was told that I was wrong and other customers were waiting. It was obviously that the support I'd given to this company for all the years was not appreciated, so I just put my credit card back into my wallet and walked out. Shortly after I called the store manager thinking they'd want to know about my experience, but was told I was wrong and to call someone else. So, after wasting 3 months, I have to go back to the big box stores where no customer service is better than Herb Creek's bad customer service. I left a message for the owner to call me before I wrote this review and now, a month later, I still haven't had a call! I've since found another nursery a little drive from Savannah but the prices are much better and everyone is very helpful so in the long run, I guess I'm better off without Herb Creek. read more
