Heritage Auctions visited our home and selected a number Chinese ceramics pieces for auctions. Some of the more valuable items were featured in a catalogue for auctions, and the remaining pieces were described in the HA online auction site. High end auction house. On the street you press a buzzer to gain entrance. Once inside you're facing a reception desk. The young lady was very pleasant to me. I asked if there were other items in the Whitney Houston Collection on display inside. She informed me that the full collection can be found on their web site. She said the window items were the only ones at their Manhattan location. I asked a few other questions and kept being referred to their web site. I took that as my signal to exit. Let me just say that I am a collector and I recently cosigned some very high end lower graded coins with heritage for the FUN show.Most of them "CAC"..One of them even broke a record yet I just recently received a phone call that one of the bidders did not pay for a coin and they gave me the option to put it in the next auction which is April or to return it to me‍ It is well over a month later and I have yet to receive the coin or my check for the coins that they auctioned off first week of January 2020. What the heck is taking so long and I thank God that I asked for the coin back because even though it would've sold in April I would've got paid sometime in September.. I figured I would give them a try but I would never allow them to auction it off my higher grade Morgan dollars because they are completely incompetent and have found several other auction that guarantee payment!! I revise from 2 stars to 4 stars Heritage appears to only care about the sale at hand rather than building a client relationship. The shipping department needs to learn to communicate. They were defensive rather than helpful or competent at their job. I spoke to a supervisor who was pleasant, and eventually was more forthcoming about the delay of my items. I was not offered an alternative to Heritage's shippinge items. The missing items then appeared at my house without notice of shipping. The items I purchased were fine, the runaround and poor customer relations, not so much. I want to feel valued. Maybe it is not that kind of auction house. read more

Sarah is nice and goes out of her way to get you all your answers. But watch out, Heritage adds a buyers premium, of course the buyer deducts it from his bid, so I pay for it, and then Heritage charges a seller's commission, minimum 5%, in my case 10. Because they separated one item from the main lot, the commission was higher, ending up paying Heritage directly and indirectly over 1/4 of the auctioned items value. I am in the wrong business. I do not want to discourage anybody from using them, they are very professional and give your items good exposure after all, but would check other alternatives, if you have the time and the knowledge, especially for items of lower value. Next time I will pay more attention to the cost and fees. 5*s for Sarah, 2.1/2 stars for Heritage because of cost. read more

Out of the blue, we received a last-minute invitation to an event from an artist that we know. Needless to say, we were not sure what to expect and found ourselves a bit underdressed. While several employees were quite nice, you could feel others pausing and just looking at you with unspoken words. I found information on Whitney Houston, not on their process when I looked them up, the website was just a tad confusing. I was looking for estate information for my grandmother and came in contact with Jillian. Well, she could have not be more helpful! She was professional and knowledgable. She was very friendly and easy to talk too. At that moment I told her we were not interested in moving forward but I would definitely keep her in mind. The only negative was that their sellers commission seemed high. But, Jillian tell me that it's open to negotiation with their specialists. read more
