After finally moving out, they are in the process of trying to charge me my entire security deposit plus an additional $200 for damages I did not do. Items were as stupid as saying "a screw is missing from an electrical outlet" which I never used because it didn't work. To add icing to the cake, they said "the grounds were not maintained at all" after I paid a lawn service to come bi-weekly and keep everything in order... this is an absolutely infuriating situation, all because they refused to fix minor issues I reported to them and are now trying to charge me a total of $1,700+ to fix, saying I am at fault. not to mention they had relisted the property while I was STILL LIVING THERE for almost $500 more than what I was paying. Please people, be careful with this company. Things I'd like to mention that were wrong with the property that took 3 to 5 months for them to fix: 1) there was NO INSULATION in the attic 2) multiple outlets did not work, the electrician said there was no wiring to them... 3) Giant rotting oak tree that was split in half by lightning fell on the roof.. twice... puncturing the roof and causing leaks. Took 3 days for them to fix the leak and 7 months to remove the tree. 4) possible sinkhole forming in the backyard near the house, main't. reports for this were ignored, all 5 of them. 5) there was only one smoke detector when I moved in. It fell a week later and there were not batteries in it. 6) the first week, I was locked outside due to the doorknob breaking off of the door. this happened multiple times.

It took 5 times for them to get it fixed correctly and that spanned out months. Then a second already brown spot in the ceiling further back in the dining room had to be fixed. It took 7 times and that spanned across several months. The basement flooded twice and this time they ripped the walls and carpet out and it's been that way for over a month. I had a mold inspection conducted after they would not have one done and there is toxic mold here. We have been in this house for over a year and we signed another lease because of Covid. Now we have been in here breathing toxic mold for over a year. I sent them my 14 day notice as suggested in the landlord tenant handbook and cited it according to the law. Their lawyer sent me a letter and magically they think they can get this done. They won't be able to because the city will block them. The lawyer even threatened that I could be responsible for the damage here. What? Now I lawyered up. I have 4 kids in here and there are little. This could affect their whole lives. My head hurts. My lungs hurt. I work full time inside the house. There aren't many rentals due to Covid. Stay far away from Havenbrook Homes. They will do nothing but take your money and then continue to try to take advantage of you and take more money. Communication has been great, everything has been handled professionally, and it's taken a real weight off my shoulders as a landlord.
