For months I saw the sign for this antique store not far from Arzi's restaurant. I kept wanting to…read morego in, but never had the time. Today I finally had some time to peruse around, and I am very glad that I did! It took me a while to walk the entire store, but I really enjoyed the setup. Most of the furniture was staged with vintage and antique items to look like actual rooms, even though there are no real partitions throughout the store. In terms of stock, everything was good quality. No junk here! Their selection of vintage and costume jewelry is excellent as well. I bought a lovely brooch and earrings. The prices here are very reasonable, and the owner is very knowledgeable about her stock. One would expect this to be the case in an antique store; however, I have gone into MANY antique stores with poorly labeled, over-priced antiques and sellers who did not really know what they are selling. My favorite so far were the brulot glasses I found in uptown New Orleans labeled "Irish Mugs." I'll share that story another time. The owner is also amazingly helpful, upbeat, and energetic. The shopping bag and tissue paper stuffing I got was even scented, which I believe you can purchase those scents in-store, too. This is probably my favorite retail shop at Perkins Rowe. I…read morehaven't yet had the clothes shopping experience, but I have both donated and purchased other items here. First, the donation process is easy - they have two large bins by their door. I'm not sure how often they empty them out, but they certainly don't close them off at night because when I arrived, someone had done a little thrift shopping overnight and left the place a mess. Sadly, it was raining, and some of those items were going to have to be destroyed. I really wish they had an indoor option so you knew the items would not get stolen or messed up in the rain. I went inside to the kids toys section. I was purchasing stuffed animals to throw for a local parade. I filled a huge bag for less than $30 with really nice, fresh stuffed animals, including two really large ones. I love rehoming these beloved toys, hopefully bringing the kids smiles when they catch those. Everyone who worked there was really friendly as well. I waited in line for a while, as expected, but a third register opened and he waved me over there. He was super personable and also loved that the stuffed animals wee getting new life. He recommended anyone who needed any to go see him because he has so many to provide. The rest of the store looked really clean, considering the amount of items. One of these days, I'll go try to find some treasures of my own.
