Simple, healthy, reasonably valued vegetarian food. 3/5 for the food, +1 for the environment, value, and health value. We were hungry and in search of some healthy vegan food and discovered this place. They have a lunch buffet that's 155 SEK for one plate or 195 SEK for unlimited. They have about 15-20 items to choose from, though some are just raw veggies. The food is simple but reasonably flavoured, with lots of vegetables, bean dishes, a lentil/daal soup, roasted potatoes, a bread-like meatballs dish, hummus, salad, and bread. Good, wholesome food. Nestled in one of the cuter areas of Stockholm, this vegan restaurant boasts quite the selection of vegan eats in yet another buffet style restaurant, which seems to work very well in Sweden. I must say, this was some of the best vegan food we ate in Stockholm. Its format is similar to those of other vegan buffets in the city, in that you pay a set price to enjoy an all you can eat offering of savory foods, while desserts cost extra. From a thematic standpoint, Hermitage is very similar (and not just in name) to Hermans, in that it offers "ethnic" (Lebanese and Indian inspired flavors). As such, they offer rice dishes, lentil and/or chickpea type dishes, breads, and a wealth of salads and veggies. The dal at Hermitage was incredible, and I couldn't stop praising it as we ate. Like Herman's, Hermitage offers outdoor seating, and instead of offering sweeping views of the Fotografiska, the Gröna Lund, and their surrounding waterways, you are treated to the entertaining people watching that Gamla Stan's streets are known for. read more

Awesome little place in historic Gamla Stan where one can indulge in a vegan smorgasbord. This place is also pretty cheap, even outside of Swedish standards. I definitely got my money's worth here. As somebody else had mentioned before me, this place serves up the kind of fare that one would expect to find in those Hare Krishna canteens, except that you can go up to the counters numerous times to refill your plates. I think a few people happened to miss this, so I'd like to mention it here: be sure to check out the drawers right by the cashiers as they contain hot food items like veggie meatballs and rice. read more

We were strolling around Gamla Stan on a Saturday and we decided to try this place. It has great recommendation on Yelp and was also recommended by our Lonely Planet... I guess this made my expectations a bit too high... It was ok, the prices were ok too. It's a buffet, the food was fine... I expected something more, so I was kind of disappointed, even if nothing went wrong. The drinks are also organic : we had an organic coke and a lemonade with ginger and kombucha. We were seating outside, the street is cute. There were some blankets provided if we got cold (but it was a beautiful summer day :-)). The service was ok too. Hermitage would not be the sort of place I would normally go to but as I was starving after walking around Stockholm I thought that I would give it a try. Wow wow wow! A plentiful and delicious vegetarian/vegan lunch buffet for 100 kronor. Sign me up. In the middle of our day being tourists, we ventured into Hermitage famished and looking for sustenance. We found a bounty of salads, stews, soups, hummus, breads and other delectables at our finger tips. This was exactly what I was looking for. Since it's a buffet, there are no "servers" but the lovely girl working the counter was able to inform us what items were vegetarian and which ones were vegan. I think the little patties I had were falafel-esque but whatever they were, they were delicious. The different veggie stews I tried (can't remember all of them) were all delicious. I didn't get to sample any dessert because I had no room but they seemed to have a wide variety of lovely pastries on display. Hands down, one of the best meals we had in Scandinavia - and it was a steal! When you consider the fact that everything in this part of the world costs an arm and a leg, you can truly appreciate the amount of food you can get here for a mere 100 kroner ($15). I was walking around the old town area and saw Hermitage (people had already recommended it) so I decided to have lunch there instead of where I was headed. Really great price as far as stockholm is concerned. Had a lovely meal sitting out in their front seating area. I'm sure they switch it up all the time but their mock meat curry thing was delicious with rice and plenty of salad options. The funny/not-so-funny thing about vegetarian restaurants is that most seem to make food that the chef herself might not be excited to eat. But at Hermitage, you can literally taste the LOVE the cook pours into the food. Every dish was delightful and spiced to perfection. OMG, this restaurant is the least welcoming restaurant I've ever been to. The guy working there was so unbelievably rude. Every question was met with a brusque response. You are required to pay for your meal in advance. No one took a drink order or cleared dirty plates. Food decent and plentiful. But not hygienic as handles of serving spoons are placed directly on food and diners are allowed to return for second helpings with their dirty plates that come into contact with serving spoons used by everyone. read more

So here we are, after Yelping on the inflight wifi provided by Norwegian airlines, jumping on the bus to Stockholm Central, and walking in the snow (because we don't get much in London) to Hermitage! I'm pretty fit, but as you can imagine I was close to Marvin (starving, cockney slang) on arriving to this small, social and country cafè looking buffet. It was 19:00, and the place was not full but I'd say total capacity is no more than 30 so not big. Me and my friend jumped (not literally) on the end of a group table. They were old Swedish ladies, who seemed impressed by me bringing the cutlery for two to the table ;). Back to the food... The buffet was very tasty although I could've done with a bit more choice. Personally I'm not too keen on the soya (soja- as we're in Sweden now) meat substitutions so the hot food stews were cut down from 4 to 2 options, which I must say we're still super delicious :) In saying that the salads were nothing special but the rice, tomato, nut balls were mouth watering!! I had 5. The buffet was small yet nice, as a meat eater I would have liked a bit more of an choice, but still cannot complain because what I had was lovely! I would visit again and enjoyed the food.
