Café Cronan is one of several small diners in Stockholm's old city, near the Royal Palace. Close enough to be convenient to the tourist trade, but off the well beaten path enough that it is popular with the locals. The staff were friendly and helpful, spoke adequate English (my Swedish is terrible...!). There is plenty of seating indoors and outdoors. The food was very good, reasonably priced and featured regional dishes.they had a selection of bottled and local draft beers to wash it all down. read more

This cafe was off the main drag in Gamla Stan and served a nice selection of salads, pastas, etc. They also make specialty coffee drinks and there was seating inside and out. Last of all, their 2 albeit tiny restrooms were spotlessly clean. read more

Found this spot in the old town neighborhood of stockholm. My goal before I decided to visit Stockholm was to eat some Swedish meatballs ( as you can predict, I go to Ikea a lot for the furnitures but most importantly the food lol). I love the old town neighborhood. They have lots of options when it comes to restaurants, cafes or souvenir stores. I had a hard time finding a spot where they were serving meat balls before I came across this place. As you can see in the pictures, the meatballs are served with some sauce, potatoes and the pink stuff ( not sure what it's called). The food was amazing, I couldn't have asked for a better spot to have Swedish meatballs. The restaurant has indoor and outdoor seating option. The food is little pricy, but I think thats just anywhere in Stockholm. read more

Very nice people and very good, inexpensive dinner. Located on a busy pedestrian street so you can do plenty of people watching while you eat. The stuffed baked potato was delicious and the pasta basically melted in your mouth. Casual cafe- you order inside at the counter and they bring it out to your table. read more

So on my last evening in Stockholm and before heading back to the dreary disgusting filth that is known as BART and worklife in general, I wanted to hit a local cafe. After shooting a few long exposure shots and wandering down to the old Jewish quarters, I found a little cafe on a corner that looked inviting, warm and cozy. Even though the pastries display case were down to just a few items, I wanted to see what the Swedish coffee was all about. I purchased a slice of their chocolate cake and what looked like a lemon cheese curd cake. We took the items to the window and sat at the counter directly across from the busy bar in front. The cakes in Sweden are different from French cakes in that they are denser, crumble a bit, and not as sweet or rich. The coffee here was amazing. Strong but not acidic. Customer service and the staffpersons behind the counter were extremely kind and the big guy had an interesting accent but spoke English very well. Charming and helpful, I appreciated their level of customer service. Perfect way to end my last day in Stockholm and I'll be coming back the next time I'm in Gamla Stan. read more

Great spot to come in for free wifi right in old town. No iced coffee, as swedes don't truly have, but their "islatee" or iced late is damn good. The owners and employees speak English and are friendly. Chill place to post up and take in the touristy passerbyers. read more

A nice cafe with a decent, reasonably priced menu. Seating is available inside or out and ordering is done at the cash register. The food came out really quickly and the portions were a good size. I shared the hot smoked salmon and healthy platter with shrimp with my brother. Both were really tasty! The cafe also has free wifi. read more

This cafe is around the corner from our hotel so have walked past many times before stopping for dinner tonight. The menu didn't seem like much at first but we were pleasantly surprised. I had the smoked salmon with mustard sauce and my daughter had the meatballs. We both enjoyed our dinners and was one of the best meals we had in Stockholm. Great value for the price.
