I referred a former friend to the practice, and her dental treatment later had complications because she did not follow the post-procedure instructions she was given. After I ended that friendship, I began noticing a dramatic change in how I was treated by the office staff. Whether those events are related or not, the difference has been hard to ignore. Over the past several months, I have been given conflicting information, have been told things that later turned out to be untrue, and, most frustratingly, my phone calls have gone unanswered or unreturned. The male and female at the front desk know exactly who they are. On multiple occasions, they assured me they would call me back, yet those calls never came. I should not have to call a dental office seven different times just to get an answer or a simple return phone call. That level of communication is unacceptable, especially for someone who has been a loyal patient for many years. I do not know whether Dr. Dorsey is aware of what has been happening. My concerns are directed at the front office, not at him or Julia. I truly hope he sees this review because I believe he would want to know if long-time patients feel overlooked. My overall impression is that if you have excellent insurance or the financial means to pay for treatment without concern, you will likely have a very good experience. However, if you are uninsured or are trying to manage the cost of dental care, you may not receive the same level of attention and communication that I once experienced. My visit to Coast Dental Metro West was alarmingly disappointing. I initially scheduled a 2:00 PM appointment at Coast Dental Metro West. I received a text stating there was an issue with the online booking and requesting to move it to 3:30 PM. I called the office to confirm and spoke with Alejandro, who told me there was no record of my original 2:00 PM appointment but then scheduled me for 3:30 PM. I took time off work to attend the 3:30 PM appointment. When I arrived, the waiting room was completely full and a letter taped to the reception window explained they were short staffed. I checked in and asked how long the wait would be. The receptionist, who was very friendly and professional, said it could be about 30 minutes. I pointed out that there were at least six people already waiting and that I had overheard others asking how much longer it would be. She still estimated around 30 minutes. I waited patiently and by 4:30 PM the receptionist told me they would need to reschedule because they were still running behind and the dentist was leaving at a set time (5 PM). After waiting an hour in the office, I was turned away with no service. I called Coast Dental's Patient Quality Assurance line at (877) 880-1212 to report the experience. The patient advocate apologized but also admitted I was not the first person to complain about this issue, which is deeply concerning. He advised this was documented but offered nothing else. This office charges cancellation and no show fees to patients, yet offers no compensation or accountability when they cancel on a patient who has already arrived, waited, and rearranged their workday. If a patient is expected to respect the office's time, the office should respect the patient's time just as much. This was a complete waste of time and a poor reflection of how they manage scheduling and patient care. This level of disorganization and disregard for patients' time is completely unacceptable.
