I started going to this dentist back in 1999. I got my preventive and repair dental work there, and so did my now ex-husband. My father used to go to this dentist on our recommendation, as did my brother. We called him "the painless dentist" because it seemed as though no matter what work you were having done, you had minimal pain the next day (even root canals). Back then we loved this dental office. Over the years I and my family have seen the changes in the office come gradually, and none of those changes are good. It's as if his reputation as a good dentist made him feel he could rip his patients off since he was just that good. He now has very unreasonable rates for procedures and an unwillingness of the dentist and his hygienist staff to understand that not everyone can just lay down tons of cash same day for said procedures. His reaction to any work needing to be done is just to do it right away with no thought for the fact that not all of his patients can do this. He charged my father over 3 times the average cost for a simple tooth extraction, a fact that my father didn't realize until he got to the counter to pay! No estimate given prior to having the extraction, no explanation for the exorbitant rate. My father was the last holdout in our family to continue seeing this dentist, and it was after Dr Coleman's office committed highway robbery on him for that extraction. He paid it, but he promised the office manager at the front desk that it would be the last time Dr Coleman had the chance to rob him. The entire front office is snobbish and rude, and they were not this way in the beginning, so I'm not sure why things changed, but they have. I am absolutely astonished to see so many 5 star reviews considering I have not been the only person who has had a bad experience with this dentist and his office. I even recently was told a story by a co-worker about her terrible experience at her dentist's office, and when I asked her where she went, OF COURSE it was Dr Coleman! Maybe the reviewers haven't taken the time to find how badly they are being rear ended by this dentist. I thought it was important to write this review because I know too many people who felt taken advantage of by this practice to sit by and not give the real experience of patients who began going to him 17 years ago and only within the last couple of years found other dentists in whom to place their trust. The sad part is that it wasn't always this way. I don't know how this went from being a good, trustworthy, reputable dental office to the greedy, snobbish, and rude place it's turned into.
