Ran into one of the guys at another house in the neighborhood and asked when he had time could he give an estimate. He came right over and quoted a very reasonable price for what I wanted. They went to lunch and came back in an hour or so and cut my almost-50-year-old oak tree back away from my house. Had a large crew - cutters, throwers, draggers, chippers. They were like a well-oiled machine. All working together. They cleaned up from porch to street. Had it all done in a few minutes. When they left, the only way you could tell they had been here was a small handful of sawdust - and my beautifully trimmed tree! I highly recommend this team! I will not use another tree service. I called Lewis for an estimate and since he was working another job in the area he showed up about 30 minutes later. We talked about 30 minutes, very knowledgeable, had some good ideas about what was needed to be done. He also assured me that my landscaping would not be hurt by any limbs and other tree parts being cut down that might fall in the area. I had three very large Live Oaks, two of which were leaning on my roof. He gave me a quote, which I thought was very reasonable based on others I had gotten, and said he could start his crew on it in less than an hour as they were finishing up another job close by. I was concerned because it was looking like rain but he had no problem even if it rained a little. His brother showed up about 45 minutes later with a crew of eight. They got everything done in less than two hours. No damage, better than I expected. Raised the canopy over the sidewalk and gutter, cleared the branches leaning on the roof, thinned out areas inside the tree that helped in letting more light hit my grass, cleaned up and since they have a chipper were able to easily haul away the limbs and branches. All the guys on the crew were friendly and worked quickly, even when it started to rain for about 5 minutes (it was an on and off evening which turned into a full rain right after they left). I have no problem recommending them, and will use them next time without hesitation. read more

Lewis and his crew were amazing! We initially were just looking for a bid. We made an appointment and he showed up on time and was very respectful and polite. He gave a sound assessment on what our 30 year old live oak tree needed (and didn't need). There was no "hard sell", merely recommendations and then he quoted us a price. A Fair price. Since we are getting ready for foundation work, we asked about the hedges in front of our house that are 30 years old. (deep roots) Gave a second fair price. He gave a brief explanation on how his crew worked and was very friendly and professional. We were his last stop of the day and we asked when he could do this work and he said he would call his crew - they were just down the street finishing a job. Wow! Wow! Wow! They showed up and began work. They are efficient, detailed, and thorough. Best Part! - It's trash pick up week so they piled the brush/branches in front yard between sidewalk and street (other wise, they would've chipped all the brush) THEN they trimmed both sides to ensure clearance from the street side so cars would not get scratched and sidewalk so people could use it. It looks like a manicured hedge waiting for bulk pick up. Another detail they did that was greatly appreciated was they protected my front windows while their machine was grinding down the stumps. Work was completed and area cleaned neatly. Our Live oak's canopy was lifted and we will enjoy this tree for many more years with out damage to our foundation or roof. I definitely would not recommend this gentleman. He did not supervise his crew. I was very detailed to him in exactly what I wanted done. They trimmed more trees than they were supposed to which exposed a view of the city street that I don't like to see. He apologized and said he would come back that same week and plant a phatenia to reblock the street view that his crew exposed. I have called and texted him many times for months. He has told me several times that he would come out the following weekend to do it. No one ever comes. So I continue to keep asking him and now his reply is that he is too busy. Terrible customer service. After months of him not doing what he said he would I asked for a refund which he would not do either. I recommend using a company that actually does what they say are going to do. read more

Lewis came out to give me an estimate to remove a giant tree within an hour, and beat other estimates I received. He sent his crew that afternoon, and they completed the job that evening. I needed 4 trees trimmed and thought another had died. Lewis listened to what we wanted and provided input. Plus he explained that our crepe myrtle was not dead, but that our live oak was stealing its sun and by cutting back the live oak we could save the crepe myrtle. Hernandez Tree Experts (214-309-8681) were highly recommended and I certainly agree. We had our 60' Cypress tree cut down because the roots were causing damage to the water and sprinkler lines. Four other large trees were also trimmed. Lewis Hernandez and his crew of about 10 workers (it was too hard to count them because they were all moving so fast in all directions, cutting, hauling, chopping, climbing, grinding, raking, blowing and more) completed the entire job in one hour and 5 minutes! It was amazing to watch! The clean up was great. He even cut a slice of the tree truck for us to keep. We are very pleased with their excellent work! read more

Called Lewis on a Friday evening, he was standing in my front yard around 9am Saturday to give me a quote, and by 10:10am his guys had arrived and made quick work of my two large overgrown oaks and as a bonus, trimmed all of my other landscaping and pulled out two diseased bushes. Lewis and his crew are the best tree guys to ever have worked on our trees. We've always maintained our trees, having them pruned every three years or so by a top-rated tree company. We met Lewis when a new neighbor asked us about pruning one of our trees to remove overhang onto his property where he needed to make changes to the driveway and garage. We were reluctant, especially since we'd just had the trees pruned six or seven months before, but after talking to Lewis, we allowed him to prune the tree. He did a fantastic job on that tree, leaving it stronger and our yard more beautiful. We've since had him prune another storm-damaged tree, and were similarly impressed.
