    I would not rent from these people. I visited one of their properties on W. Lee Rd. in Taylors, SC…read moreyesterday and was surprised to find the downstairs of this house inhabited by a person, and they were there. The house smelled strongly of smoke. There was no mention of the downstairs tenant in the listing, there were roaches all over the floor, and none of the doors were locked. I called and emailed to report all of these issues to the company, And it has been over 24 hours, and no one has called me back. I don't know if the person downstairs was a squatter or an actual person that they expected someone to share this house with. There was no mention of the other tenant in the description of the property, and the full square footage was listed as livable, when clearly another person is occupying at least five or 600 ft.² As I was sitting in the driveway calling the company, the woman flew up from the basement level parking area in her car, coming very close to my bumper, so I backed out to leave. Once I was in the street and pulling forward on W Lee, she peeled out of the driveway and nearly hit me. Something is going on with this property. I would avoid this company.

Any time I had a service request, they promptly spoke with the owner and scheduled a contractor to come to my home to review. Before I left, they also implemented an online service portal. They were also very good about move in and move out inspections and returning my deposit. Most of their leases require professional cleaning which makes it easier for both renter and property owner. I've rented a lot of apartments from owners and property managers, and I would definitely recommend Marchant.

You will have to fight to get any necessary repairs fixed. They won't actually get fixed. Living in the house for over 10 years and the carpeting wasn't brand new, they refused to replace until "we moved out". Long term responsible tenants mind you. Was told we needed to sign another year lease after taking care of the home for a decade, went to renew lease and then was told owner wanted to sell and. We had 30 days to move. Even though we were told that if we wanted to move they (marchant) would need 60 days notice. Obviously was charged so many fees in regards to "their cleaning services" and yard cleanup. Which is ridiculous because we always maintained a clean and pretty yard. We made the yard look better with more curb appeal by planting flowers and maintaining garden beds. Of course they kept all of our deposit except for $29 out of a $1400 deposit. We had electrical issues to which we went without power for weeks. We had a roach problem. Flooring and carpet were terrible. Water spigots on kitchen sink and tub were constantly leaking. Running up our water bill. They just wanted us out to maybe fix issues but probably just so they could jack up the rent. We were forced to buy a renters insurance policy through the company. Although we already had renters insurance bundled with our car insurance. I was told to provide documents and all would be fine. I did such and I just realized we've been being charged double for renters bc merchant didn't cancel "their" renters policy. So I've been charged every month double insurance for the past 6 years. I could go on and on but I would highly suggest not renting from these people. Or having them manage your property. It's just going to be a headache for anyone dealing with them. Brandi, Kelly, will, etc are the worst. So rude and dismissive. You basically have no rights with this company and any way they can nickel and dime/ screw you over. They will.
