Outstanding sushi! This place is simply a treasure. Perfect date place! Fancy, elegant, and tasty. We drove an hour bc a friend recommended it. And it was completely worth it. The sushi tasted as amazing as it looked! I have a feeling you could get anything on the menu and be happy. We will definitely return! Parking was easy for us. Staff are wonderful! I regret not getting take out to bring home.

I liked the decor in the front and there was a cool mural next to our table. I liked all of the different options for rolls, and it ended up being under $30 for two people plus tip. Service was friendly and the food was good quality. Will for sure be coming back!

I went here after seeing a reel in instagram saying this was the best place for sushi in the Madison area. As a sushi lover I was curious. They were correct. Best sushi in the Madison area. The vibe in amazing and is surrounded by cool artwork including a mural in the larger dining area. The service is pretty quick. The spicy miso ramen is the best ramen my husband has had in Madison. This place checks all the boxes. I foresee them growing out of their space, because once you go, you will not want to go anywhere else.

The ambiance even for lunch was awesome! The service was quick, polite and helpful. Definitely recommend a visit. Would put this restaurant up against Red in Madison. Prices are reasonable.

Absolutely yummy and we are here again. It's become one of our favorite places to come and eat, my #1 sushi spot in Madison.

Had such a lovely dinner at Hers Sushi Bar and Ramen! As a vegetarian who loves veggie sushi this place was like a dream. Usually you can only get 4-5 different kinds of veggie sushi and never any fun or inventive rolls but this place has a HUGE section of veggie rolls and tons of cool veggie rolls to try. The sushi was excellent and our service was awesome. The space is clean and decorated cute. I will say this place was packed! We showed up 30 mins after they opened for dinner and had an hour wait so plan to get there early or peruse some of the local shops while you wait for your table. I am totally obsessed with this place and I am looking forward to trying out more of their menu items/seeing if they end up having a patio this summer.

Wanted to try out a new restaurant and decided on Hers for my birthday dinner. The food was great. Seaweed salad tasted fresh, the cucumber salad was tangy & bright and the spicy ramen was just the right amount of kick and had great flavor! We also tried one of their sushi rolls and I appreciated how tight it was wrapped. We will definitely be back!

In a word, INCREDIBLE. I don't think I have been this excited about a new restaurant in a while. My friend and I came right at opening (11am) on a Sunday and were able to be seated right away. We tried previously on a Friday evening around 6 and it was about a two hour wait so we decided not to go, but so glad we decided to come back at a different time! The staff is super friendly and kind. There were so many menu items that I wanted to try, but we ended up ordering the "Flame Kisses" as an app and tonkotsu ramens as mains. The Flame Kisses were so melt in the mouth tasty. You could taste the quality of the fish and the sauces. It was small but packed a punch and was worth the price tag. The ramen broth was so rich and delicious and seriously nothing else around in Madison competes. The only thing we had a gripe with was that the egg was not marinated. Otherwise, it was nearly perfect. I highly recommend checking this place out, and I am already counting the days until I come back!

Simply amazing sushi restaurant find. I didn't have high expectations, but was pleasantly surprised by the maki rolls....delicious!! Would recommend spicy tuna, dragon and rainbow rolls. Japanese beer (Sapporo , Asahi, etc) plus good wine selection. The restaurant is small so be prepared to wait at Kickback cafe or main tap across the street, they will text you when your table is available. No reservations. Definitely worth the drive from Madison!!! Enjoy

My husband and I went on a Monday night. They only do Ramen on Monday, heads up if you're going for sushi. We did Gyoza for the appetizer, very nicely cooked/crispy. Ramen was amazing and perfect portions. I had the Tonkotsu and my husband had Spicy Miso. Service was great and restaurant is super cute! We are coming back for Sushi this week.

A couple of sushi rolls and some sashimi on the side!

Love this! The atmosphere is lovely, service is attentive, and the sushi is amazing! 4th time here and will continue to visit!

She was very careful about our allergy concerns and made sure to take care of us (my daughter has a severe fish allergy and needed her ramen free of fish cake & sauce). The Thai boba tea was delicious, too. I discovered that I prefer Thai ice tea better without boba, but I really enjoyed it in this form, as well. I enjoyed the clean and comfortable atmosphere. I was thankful for the interior photograph left by a previous Yelper because the Yelp reviews I read didn't mention that the place had a dine-in an option. The dining space want just accommodating, but lovely, as well.

I'm a bit conflicted about the meal I had. First off, service was great, and the speed the food…read morearrived was perfect. So, absolutely no issues there. For an appetizer, I had the gyoza, and it was perfect. Evenly fried and steamed, even if it was just frozen stuff from the bag like at the Japanese restaurant I used to work at, it was at least prepared with skill. My main entree was the garlic miso ramen. And while each component worked on its own, all of them put together made it seem less as a whole. My biggest issues were the chashu pork which came out a little overcooked. I know the reason, and probably shouldn't hold it against them, but it reminded me a bit of the overcooked pork of my childhood. The other issue was the broth. It was sweet on the backend, which really didn't do it for me the more I've thought about it. I'm not sure if it was the pork broth or the tare. My suspicion lies heavier towards the tare than the broth, but I could be wrong. Either way, I felt that such noticeable sweetness was out of place especially since it did too much to counter the garlic flavor. I suspect it was there to do that for those who don't like a heavy garlic flavor, but then again, if you don't like garlic flavor, you shouldn't be ordering something labeled as garlic on the menu. I will say that marinating the egg was a nice touch and gave it a depth of flavor that typically isn't there from other ramen places I've tried. Otherwise, it was good overall, it just felt like it didn't completely come together with the sweetness of the broth and the pork being a tad overcooked. Still, despite perhaps not looking like it, Zen Ramen was a solid little ramen shop on the East Side and I would not oppose going back to try some of their other ramen bowls. It might not blow your mind if you're a regular ramen connoisseur, but is still a solid spot if you want something affordable and unpretentious.

And they adjust the noodle thickness based upon the broth type, so that's good. But if you like shoyu ramen, this really isn't their strong point; it will be more like a lighter tonkotsu broth with thicker noodles. They also offer dan dan men and chuka soba in the summertime, but it's not really the Japanese style. They have both indoor and outdoor seating, and the staff is very nice and attentive. Service is quick. I stopped by on the way to Breese Field and it was a delicious quick dinner. The bamboo shoots are made with a canned variety, instead of dehydrated, and the marinated egg is really just soft-boiled. So if you're a ramen snob, set your expectations accordingly.
