    Shoyu Ramen
    Akshita P.

got a Spicy Shoyu ramen and took out pork - they offered to sub chicken and I went for it! The chicken was great, small pieces well fried. I liked the shoyu broth as well, although the spice wasn't as strong as I would've liked. The noodles itself were well cooked and the egg and fish cake was great. I would've elected for a bit more veggies but overall decent bowl of ramen. Not too many options in Madison but this was a good place to go! Large portion for a reasonable price! FyI 10% Discount for cash payment.

    Spicy seafood udon soup

I had a beautiful lunch of spicy ground pork between bao buns and spicy seafood udon noodle soup. All amazing. Good service. Good prices. They even have their own parking lot! Nothing fancy. Just REALLY good noodles!

Food: 4.5 Ramen was tasty and takoyaki was amazing. Seriously, get the takoyaki--crispy, not too much sauce, and a good sprinkle of bonito flakes. Broth is a tad salty and portions could be bigger. Service: 5 Very polite and quick with food. Ambiance: 4 Nothing super out of the ordinary, but the restaurant is cute and has nice lighting.

Came to Ramen Station to continue to sample Madison's ramen joints. We came early, before a concert and were the only ones there although another group came in shortly thereafter. TBH, the decor is a bit dingy and run down with some worn-out chair cushions and stains on the cushions in the wall banquet. Service was fairly efficient but lacked any friendliness. We started with the Gyoza and it was ok not great, a bit soggy. I tasted the Lady's miso soup and the broth seemed a bit funky. I had the Tonkotsu ramen as my main. Unfortunately it was a mixed bag. The broth looked good with a creamy color, but was thin and watery and had little flavor. The noodles also were very bland. The toppings were alright: corn, scallions, bamboo shoots, nori, sprouts, fish cake and half a soft boiled egg. Unfortunately the nori was completely soggy and disintegrated. The soft boiled egg was legit, tasty. The chashu was pretty good. Small pieces but braised and with a very nice flavor and although they were small there were about half a dozen of them. So a quite mixed bag of ramen with some highs and lows. The lady had the stir fried veg and liked them. Mixed experience here. Don't see any reason to return.

Incredible place, even better than the ones in Tokyo or Kyoto. Their Tonkatsu is carefully boiled in broth and the owner is so knowledgeable and nice. He is patient and gave us the process of how to make the broth which took a lot of time and his consideration. Thank you and thank you for such a delicious food. Soup base is out of the world! Ambience is incredible too, cool air and ramen taste even better.

The dining experience was very fast and pleasant. We were seated and served immediately. The food was very tasty, the gyoza was gone before I even remembered to snag a picture! We loved the skewers and ramen. The spicy ramen was nicely hot, and may not be hot enough for heat lovers but was a nice blend for me. The flavorful broth and good selection of the menu made for a great dining experience I would highly recommend for lunch or a low-key dinner. The house sake was not as smooth as some sakes I've tried, but very good nonetheless. They do offer a discount for cash payments, so remember to bring some with you. Definitely worth a try!!

Awesome food. They needed some help with workers. They had one guy running the whole floor. That said though, everything was awesome and we would go back in a heartbeat

Went on a Saturday at 11:30am, not very crowded. The rush picked up around 12:30pm, so plan accordingly. The restaurant is very cute, feels very homey and the kitchen smells amazing. The server was very attentive and food came fast. The gyoza was amazing!! Loved the flavor of the meat, very well cooked. The ramen was well made, all the ingredients tasted wonderful. Only note would be that the level of spice was quite low for my liking, so I'd say maybe go up a level of spice than you normally would. The food to broth ratio was very well made and I would definitely come back again.

Had gyoza and spring rolls as appetizers were okay. Wish they provided small plates so we can eat leisurely rather than stuff the entire piece into our mouths. Pork Katsu Curry, curry was standard fare and was decently sized however the pork katsu would've been better if it were on top of the curry. It was soggy by the time it got to the table. Miso Ramen lacked the strong flavor of miso that I'm used to. . Tonkatsu Ramen was the star of the meal. Strong flavor of pork and bone. I would get this again. Chashu that was served with the ramens was good as was the shoyu egg. Service was good and friendly. at the time of visit paying cash reduced bill by 10% which was a bonus. one thing was the parking lot was pretty slippery due to below freezing temps after.

Got exactly what I ordered. Shoyu Ramen with Tofu. Service was Quick. Friendly. Efficient . Soup was nice and temperature Hot. Tasty broth! Loved that I could sub Tofu for Pork at no charge. Thanks for a great lunch as I took a break from being with family over at SSM! I had to take half of the ramen home as it was such a big serving!

2nd time here within the month coz we love their ramen. Ordered beef and squid skewers; wouldn't recommend them as beef were way overcooked and extremely hard to chew. Not much flavors on squid either. Will stick to ramen from now on. It's their specialty: Ramen Station, right?

Living on the West Coast we have multiple options so this was a nice and unexpected surprise when we popped in for lunch on the way back from the airport. We opted for a shoyou Ramen as well as a tonkatsu Ramen. Both were rich and flavorful and had plenty of toppings. It came with an egg, although we ordered additional eggs on the side. I saw a vegetarian one go by and that also looked phenomenal. It was a really large portion and we took some of it home. Service was friendly. Parking was on the street. I'm not sure if there is a private lot. Cool vibes reasonably priced menu overall.

I went on a weekday lunch, so there was no wait--only one other customer when I arrived. I ordered the pork belly tonkotsu ramen because I prefer a creamy, richer broth. I almost went for the spicy crab, but since it included ground pork, I switched. My food came out in about ten minutes, which wasn't too bad. The broth was flavorful and rich, though I wish it had been served a little hotter. Portion size was generous, and I especially appreciated the bamboo shoots and perfectly soft-boiled egg. Overall, I was in and out in about 30 minutes. The quality was good, though prices are on the higher side at about $15 per bowl. They do offer a loyalty program (buy 10, get the 11th free), which is a nice perk. Street parking is terrible and I ended up using the parking garage across the restaurant.

She was very careful about our allergy concerns and made sure to take care of us (my daughter has a severe fish allergy and needed her ramen free of fish cake & sauce). The Thai boba tea was delicious, too. I discovered that I prefer Thai ice tea better without boba, but I really enjoyed it in this form, as well. I enjoyed the clean and comfortable atmosphere. For an appetizer, I had the gyoza, and it was perfect. Evenly fried and steamed, even if it was just frozen stuff from the bag like at the Japanese restaurant I used to work at, it was at least prepared with skill. My main entree was the garlic miso ramen. And while each component worked on its own, all of them put together made it seem less as a whole. My biggest issues were the chashu pork which came out a little overcooked. I know the reason, and probably shouldn't hold it against them, but it reminded me a bit of the overcooked pork of my childhood. The other issue was the broth. It was sweet on the backend, which really didn't do it for me the more I've thought about it. I'm not sure if it was the pork broth or the tare. My suspicion lies heavier towards the tare than the broth, but I could be wrong. Either way, I felt that such noticeable sweetness was out of place especially since it did too much to counter the garlic flavor. I suspect it was there to do that for those who don't like a heavy garlic flavor, but then again, if you don't like garlic flavor, you shouldn't be ordering something labeled as garlic on the menu. I will say that marinating the egg was a nice touch and gave it a depth of flavor that typically isn't there from other ramen places I've tried. Otherwise, it was good overall, it just felt like it didn't completely come together with the sweetness of the broth and the pork being a tad overcooked. Still, despite perhaps not looking like it, Zen Ramen was a solid little ramen shop on the East Side and I would not oppose going back to try some of their other ramen bowls. It might not blow your mind if you're a regular ramen connoisseur, but is still a solid spot if you want something affordable and unpretentious.

The neighborhood is nice and Sake Sushi is located in a small plaza, however I almost missed it since it is located on the side of the plaza and was not visible from the street. Inside I found an interesting mix of decor, it seems like a traditional Asian restaurant with white linen tableclothes and also some very modern touches including neon strip lighting along the ceiling and a variety of light fixtures. Overall a bit of a mishmash that would be better if they picked one style and stayed with it. I got there in the late afternoon so the place was empty at first, I was seated and given the menu which allows you to fill out what you want. The menu is fairly similar to other AYCE sushi places I have been at. Of note is that at dinner you can order up to 15 pieces of sashimi without an extra charge. I ordered a nice selection of sashimi, some sushi, a couple of different maki rolls, the salmon skin salad and the seafood soup. Interestingly the sashimi and sushi came out first, then the maki rolls, then the soup and salad. The sashimi was very good, fresh with nice sized pieces; the nigiri sushi had a nice portion of seafood to rice. I was a bit disappointed with the seafood soup, just a bit under seasoned and too much bean sprouts. The salmon skin salad was excellent with nicely roasted smoked salmon skin mixed with a bit of eel sauce, delicious, crunchy and one of my favorites that you don't see everywhere. I also enjoyed the scallops sashimi, large fresh raw scallops with a nice delicate flavor and texture. The maki rolls were good as well, nicely sized with plenty of filling. I did really enjoy the Super Lobster Roll with shrimp tempura, cucumbers, avocado then topped with lobster salad; the lobster salad was a nice treat, although I think it was made with lagostino lobsters it was still tasty. I also liked their version of spider roll, the soft shell crab was crispy and flavorful. I enjoyed my meal at Sake Sushi, dinner was $30 for all you can eat. The sushi and sashimi were very good, of course not quite the same quality as the best sushi bars but pretty close. Service was good and there are plenty of choices, including noodle dishes, fried rice, hibachi and tempura. The decor is a bit of a miss, but nothing that will keep you from enjoying your meal. Well worth a try if you are hungry and feel like some sushi and Japanese food.
