This place is sweet!! The dessert consultant was super nice and she allowed us to try various options as well as giving us great advice. My son and I opted to share a small which was plenty for two people in my opinion! With a small cup you get two scoops of ice cream so we selected two different flavors of chocolate. I'm an ice cream connoisseur and I had only tried a local ice cream place in Gulf Shores but stopped at this place and I'm glad that I did. As soon as we walked in I was amazed at the cute aesthetic and then we were warmly greeted by Austin. With his uniform I felt I had stepped back in time. He was so friendly and professional and he even told me a little bit about the Hershey story. He made the whole experience! This would be such a cute place for a photo shot too. We stopped in twice during our visit. My grandma and uncle got the ice cream, I found my new favorite candy. They have so many ice cream options, chocolate candy, and candy in bulk. During the middle of a hot Alabama summer, my favorite afternoon snack is ice cream. I pull out the Yelp app and search ice cream near me. The closest place is Hershey's Ice Cream Parlor at Owa. I drive up to the park and walk into the Hershey's Ice Cream Parlor. I love the decor and the classic 50s style diner. I think there was also nowhere to sit in the parlor. I might be mistaken about that but no one wants to sit outside in Alabama weather eating melted ice cream. There are 24 flavors to choose with some flavors you will not find at other ice cream places. I look at all the choices and finally make a decision. But after a long hot day of disc golf, I want to drink and not eat. What do I love to drink that is so cold and satisfying? One of my favorite drinks ever...a milkshake! Now imagine my disappointment of having to choose between 24 flavors and I cannot have a milkshake for any of them. How can this be?! How did I pick an ice cream place that doesn't serve milkshakes and there was no reason given except for we do not serve them and haven't for the 3 years that we have been opened. I do not know how many ice cream places I have visited over the last few years but it has to be near 100. This is the second one that did not serve milkshakes. After the disappointment of not being able to have a milkshake, I got one scoop to not leave empty handed. If I had a milkshake, I could have been charged for at least 3 scoops since that is the minimum places put in their milkshakes. I could also carry it around in a cup and drink it without having to find a place to sit down outside in the hot sun.. I had the unique Little Blue Panda (I think was the name). The ice cream was blue and had a cookie dough taste with crumbled chocolate cookies. I enjoyed it but it didn't leave me satisfied since I wanted a milkshake. I always joke about Yelp reviewers who rate ice cream below a 4 are people that also don't like hugs, puppies, and babies. But I had to break that rule this time. The ice cream was good as expected for Hershey's but if you read this review, you know how much disappointment I expressed by not having milkshakes as an option. For this guy who prefers milkshakes over a cup or cone of ice cream, I will have to keep that in mind the next time I am on the search for a milkshake in Foley. read more

An ice cream show AND a candy store all under the Hershey name at the OWA Park... hummm so maybe not quite as great as a Godiva joint but nothing to ignore either. So I made a heroic effort after already having far too much cheesecake, gelato and cookies from Gelato Joe's and Hope's Cheesecake to power through and continue my dessert orgy for the day and force ice cream and candy into my bloated belly. Daughter wanted ice cream after a hot day in Orange Beach. Came here because our hotel is close and to shop around. Upon walking in I said "Hello" to the girl behind the counter who rudely stared at me and said nothing. Decided to let it go and buy ice cream anyway. Selections were limited but that was okay since my kids are picky. The icing on the cake was when a white guy walked in as I was checking out and this rude, robotic cashier cheerfully said, "Hello, how can I help you?" Let's start by saying that I was not satisfied with my ice cream. First of all, they didn't have the flavor I wanted, because they're always out of everything. I don't think there was ever a day that they had inventory really up to par. It is so annoying and that's the most reason why I don't like going there. We have been there several times and one of the problems we ran into was service. The servers are very friendly but wit sometimes only one or two people to wait on customers its not worth the wait. A family with a couple of kids can take forever to wait on. Hey kids are kids no problem there, except you need more help. A two scoop cup $7.00 a cone $8.00 a bit pricey and when you add in the service not a bargain. This place was amazing! We ate there after we had an awesome meal at whalburgers.They had 24 flavors of awesome Hersheys ice cream, my favorite was the blueberry cheesecake and the brown butter bourbon truffle. Both were easily the best ice creams I have ever had. Also got a piece of praline fudge and it was out of this world. They had lots of other things as well such as cookies, brownies, and gourmet chocolates. It's a local Husband and wife team who own it and not only are they sweet but they also have the cutest costumes that make you feel like you stepped back in time to the fifties. The ice cream here was fantastic in my opinion. I look for low sugar options and normally that means vanilla only. I love that they have a butter pecan with no sugar added. My favorite ice cream I have ever had. Make sure to try their truffles, the peanut butter pretzel one was my favorite I had the brown butter bourbon truffle ice cream and the praline pecan. Both we excellent. The shop itself has a very old timey vibe kind of like great gatsby. The prices were very reasonable for the setting and the service was excellent. Can't wait to come back and try more flavors because I heard the Carmel cheesecake Cookie Monster and the heavenly hazelnut are to die for. read more

Absolutely horrible. Lee who i think is a manager was so rude to a girl the day i went. She came in and ordered her items, didnt quite have enough money, was only short some change, lee badgered her repeatedly to call someone for the money. The girl looked so scared. Especially after lee said i cant just resell your ice cream. I guess i will have to call security then huh. That was ridiculous over change when they had easily $100 + in their tip jar. The ice cream is good. Not amazing. There is a serious lack of organization. You just walk up to the counter, which is fine if they aren't very busy. There are 2 ways in so they would definitely benefit with an IN door and an OUT door and some sort of line organization. When we went in it was a total mad house. There were only 3 people working and they were clearly overwhelmed. We asked for one scoop a piece and ended up with 2 each. That came out to almost $16 so get ready to spend a crazy amount for ice cream if you go here. read more

Very nice location with easy in and out in Owa. Very friendly staff and we're eager to let us sample ice cream. We left with some of their chocolate sweets for later and some ice cream for tonight. Pet Peeve alert - My wife and I have been here twice... the first time wasn't bad. There was only one other customer so we didn't have any issues waiting our turn, getting ice cream, etc. The second time this place was slammed. The problem with that is there is no organization, it's just a bunch of people pushing their way to the counter hoping that the two people (one working opposite sides of the counter) recognizes who is next. How about this - put in a ticket device that customers can pull so they can then walk around at their leisure looking at flavors/products until their number is called. Otherwise customers are placed in the awkward position of having to keep track of who was there before them, and who came in afterwards to ensure they are served at the right time. I don't think anyone likes doing this... who wants to be the one to have to say "I think we were here first", and then have the other person look at you like you are the unreasonable one for wanting to be served in the proper order, or to be set up for a confrontational situation, having to depend on the courtesy of others, which is getting a bit rarer these days. That's not a lot of fun while trying just to get some ice cream! I'm sure the employees don't enjoy this either as it takes away from the customer they are currently serving. I understand that the old number machine may take away from the old-timey feel but it will give customers a more enjoyable experience... whether you like it or not, we're in the 21st century and these devices do exist. The ice cream wasn't bad the first time but wasn't anything to write home about either. We walked out the second time because it wasn't worth dealing with. BTW - Publix sells good ice cream too. Will definitely not take the time to go back until they take some steps to make the customer experience a little less like Black Friday. read more
