Never again will I EVER use Hertz to rent a car. I went with them since they had the cheapest price for what would be approximately a one month rental. Not only did they attempt to charge all these hidden charges/fees, when I returned the car a week early they didnt even prorate the rental fee to deduct for the fact I was returning it early. Again, when you return the car make sure you do a walk around with the employee and have them check the gas and DO NOT use the ezpass provided when you have your own. We scheduled online to pick up a car at this location on Friday before work (when they opened at 8am) for a weekend trip. When we arrived at the location, the door was locked and there was a notice at the door along the lines of "stepped away, call (this 215 number) for assistance" so I called the number and it went to the national line. I hung up and tried again, and it went to a live person right away, who said the location we were at is temporarily closed and we needed to head over to the City Ave location for pickup. When we finally got over there, they said they had a problem with rodents but should be back at Umbria on Monday when we dropped it off. We adjusted our morning plans (now being about half an hour later than expected getting the car), went to work and then our weekend. Then came Monday morning. Gassed up the car, got there at 8am, and were not the only people standing there waiting for an employee. We told them to head over to City Ave and made our way through traffic to get there ourselves. Needless to say, I was unhappy when I pulled up in the parking lot at 20 after 8, and was stressing I'm about how to get us both to work on time with this new delay. Expressed my frustration and the guy who seemed most in charge didn't care - actually continued to write down whatever he was working on when I came in, even when I sarcastically thanked him for caring. He even had the nerve to tell me there was nothing they could do about the closed location - I suggested they call the people who were expecting to drop off or pick up at Umbria and let them know to not go there. I left feedback with the national customer service line, who stated the corporate location at Umbria was not listed as having any closures in their system, and that my feedback would be passed on to the area supervisor. I was supposed to get a AAA discount at Hertz, so I got a quote from them first. I was a little taken aback by the quote, so I called another company, whose price was HALF that of Hertz, without the discount. Customer service was lacking at this location. Specifically, they could not give me an estimate if I had to drop off the car at another Hertz location. Also, the gentleman on the phone was INCREDIBLY difficult to understand. He was mumbling, and after many attempts to communicate to him that I could not understand him, he made no effort to speak more clearly. The worst place to rent a car. Do not go here. I repeat... Dont rent from this scummy Hertz..... They gave me a Filthy car they called clean (not sure who taught them what clean is) the car has ashes, stinky smell, over 40k miles on it and it has bad brakes and it was on 1/8 of a tank of gas when they gave it to me. Well, they said that's all they have. Take it or leave it... I am a non-smoker, needed the car for work, and had no time to argue with them. I took the car, did my job and returned the piece of crap car in a week. Those jerks charged ME for the filthy car... Claimed I smoked in it. He found a cellophane wrapper from a pack of gum and tried to tell me it was from a cigarette pack. Omg they suck. Customer service doesn't exist here. read more

Seemed interested only in pushing extra insurance on me. "Accidentally" charged me some more rental days after I returned the car. I had to call to get a refund for the "extra" days. They told me that the car was rented to someone else during those particular days. It is weird that their system allows them to charge 2 different people for the same car on the same days. read more

The two male employees were super nice, helpful and friendly. However, the two cars I rented while waiting for my car to be repaired were very dusty, dirty and nasty smelling. I chose Hertz due to convenience to the auto body shop, but I usually rent from Enterprise because they have a better selection of cars, the cars are clean and they have better hours. Will I rent from Hertz again? Probably not. read more

Use anyone but Hertz. They rip you off and when dropping off the rental, they charge more than what they previously quote. And even though they swindled me out of my money when I dropped off the car and I refilled the gas to more than what was there when I got the car, the desk attendant still harassed me about the gas and wanted to charge me an additional fee. Do not rent from this place worst place ever. I rented a car on 6/4/19 and did not realize the inspection stickers expired on May 2019 It's the company's responsibility for the upkeep and maintenance of their vehicle for your safety. I did not realize until I received a parking ticket how was this company able to rent a car with inspired inspection don't rent from this place . I called and let them know about parking ticket they were not concerned about ticket they could care less they rented me a car with expired Inspection and did not have another car for exchange I called everyday and they did not have a car. One of the worst experiences I've ever had. One star because the girl working the desk was at polite and apologetic. No more stars because everything else sucked. Where to begin? Called hertz a week before to reserve a car through an insurance claim because my car was hit. Rep on the phone ensured the reservation was good and a car would be ready the morning we agreed, even got a confirmation number to make sure, didn't matter as all the location had was that my name was in the system. I gave the conf number and she said thar it didn't matter because I had no reservation. No big deal right? Except they didn't have any other cars to rent. None. She had to call the next closest location to bring one. About 30+ minutes later it arrives. The girl assisting me asks the guy that just drove it from the other branch to do the walk and he said the car is fine, and to just sign so he could get back to his location. I have to ask him and he acted as if I was pulling his teeth to have him do one of the most important things in renting a car. I try and point out what I think was damage and he just says its nothing and barely stops, he is practically walking back into the office when I'm not even halfway around checking the car. I've never had that level of customer disservice before that I received from that individual. It was as if I was bothering him to do his job. Just as he was getting into his colleague's vehicle to presumably go back to his branch, he nonchalantly walks back into the office and hands the keys to the girl assisting me and says "you're prolly gonna need these" and leaves. No apology, no eye contact, barely even said a word to me the whole time. I was almost glad just to leave and be over an hour late to work now, I get into the car that smells like cigarette smoke, when they clearly have signs all over not to smoke or have lets in the car. Start the engine only to have the radio music blast me out at full volume, thanks for the courtesy of turning it down, as if the guy cares about his job. I checked the fuel gauge, and of course it's almost a 1/4 tank less then what desk girl had me believe and the mileage was about 20 miles off what was recorded. Instead of going back inside I just left because I didn't want to waste any more of time at the moment. I made sure to fill the gas tank to the appropriate 1/2 level, because god forbid I short them when I returned the car two days later, the same girl was at the desk, she was helping some poor guy that couldn't get his car because she was locked out of the safe. She didn't bother checking if the car was still in one piece, it was fine, and needless to say I didn't stick around to see if that guy ever got his rental. Just when I thought the terrible experience was over, I saw my credit card was charged $13 for some reason. Unless there was negligence on my part, the insurance company was to pay everything, instead she didn't have a clear explanation or the charges and claimed it was the taxes for the rental. I wasn't about to waste anymore breath thinking about how terrible this branch/company/organization is, I decided to us the last 30 minutes sharing my experience. So do yourself a favor and go to any other car rental place. read more
