On two occasions reserved a vehicle and received corresponding confirmations only to have the location call me on day I was to pick it up and informed me a vehicle was not availabl. Twice this occurred. This situation caused a significant inconvenience and disruption to my plans. Receiving multiple confirmations only to discover that the reservation would not be honored is unacceptable and reflects poorly on the reliability of the reservation process and customer service. A confirmed reservation should provide customers with confidence that the agreed-upon vehicle or equivalent transportation will be available when promised. I was having car issues so I decided to rent a car for the week to get to work and run errands. I went online ordered it and then went to pick it up... After wairting in line for quite awhile they told me sorry we don't have the car. I asked them why I would've received a confirmation email and text if there was no car available, and the only answer they could give me is "Well that just happen a lot." I showed them both confirmations. No apology or anything. I tried my best to be respectful and ask "So, what can I do next time to make sure this doesn't happen again?' Their response was "there is no way to know if the car will be here." So I wasted my time and money trying to get a car that I was confirmed for and never got. Hertz confirmed a same-day economy car reservation for me to use for Uber Eats/doordash. They charged my card and I drove over an hour to pick up my reserved car. Upon arrival (there was no call or prior warning) I was treated very rudely and told they didn't have any cars and weren't accepting any new reservations. I rented a mid size SUV about a week before my family vacation. I travel over 30 min across town to pick up the car (10 min early) and the guy tells me with a straight face "we outta cars". Wants to take my number and call me back "if some cars arrive". No apology nor any empathy. I explain how far I live and my vacation but it's as if I'm speaking some foreign language. Meh... Barely adequate Hertz facility. The car I reserved was not available (a la Seinfeld). My replacement Kia Soul did its best to smell just like urine throughout my trip before the check engine light came on. Nice... Upon returning to drop off the car at 3:45 on a Friday (during business house) I see a note on the door alerting me that nobody is home. I called and it appears the lone employee is actually dropping off another customer.. So aside from the staffing problems, car holding problems, and just plain car problems, everything went fine. Nasty, unprofessional, and trifling - this covers the rental office, the employees, the experience, AND the car. Used to use this location exclusively years ago - wow, has it really gone to hell. Dont waste your time or money here. They kept charging my credit card random amounts after my rental was returned to the point I had to cancel the card. Patrick Block and Juwan (Jawan?) run the location and say there is no manager. I waited over 1hr 15min to get the car. They are rude, disgusting, belligerent, disrespectful, condescending, and flat out lazy. The location itself is dirty, worn, and nasty. I have filed multiple complaints via phone & have heard nothing. Multiple charges from hertz kept hitting my credit card after my rental was returned. The car was missing a hubcap, dusty inside, has duct tape marks on the outside, and needs an alignment. Was not full of gas. These are the basics. Horrible - worst experience ever. read more

I have never in my life been treated in such a way. I was charged over $2000.00 for a car that I still had. It was returned and charged to my account in a different state all while I had the car. I tried to return the car and the antioc tn location would not take the car back because it had been returned. I rented the car on December first and had the car on January 9th with the car showing a return on the 13th of December in a different state. I have spoken to so many people in customer with only two being in any way helpful. Nick and Roselyn. Other than that they have had my money charged to my credit card since December 13th. I was told today by Michael that I got a deal because they 'gave me money back on the rental' NO! It is MY money fraudulently charged by HERTZ. Then Michael went on to tell me that even though the charge of over $2000.00 hit my account at a 'weird time' I still got the better deal, I will be taking this up with a lawyer as a fraudulent charge to my account. Worst rental experience ever. Booked airport rental months ahead. Out of cars so I get sent to 1415 bell Rd. No shuttle, I have to take a taxi to the tune of $30. Wrong address so now I have to flag taxi back down and go to correct address of 783 bell rd. Because we prepaid I cannot take rental back to airport. Now on return trip I'll have to get another taxi from bell st to airport. Called customer service and was told sorry your stuck with what you got. Never use Hertz. This location is poorly staffed. I had a reservation and called for 2 days in an attempt to get a rental. No luck. Was told by Shonda that she would give me a call as soon as they got a car in. That didn't happen and I missed my little brother's graduation. I was very disappointed with Hertz. My insurance company referred me to them but they really suck. Another customer had been waiting for 2 hours for hertz to show up. This is my first Yelp review, the service at this location is horrible! I reserved an economy vehicle online, and it was available for pick up at 10:00 a.m.  When I arrived I was asked if I was there to pick up a rental, I responded yes, and the gentleman, Danny proceeded to assist me.  He informed me that there was no economy available and would be up charging me an additional nine dollars per day, ( I had a week rental).  I asked him if there was anything he could do to lower the cost and he said no.  He informed me, his system did not link up with the Hertz online system, and basically wasn't his problem, if I wanted to, I could go somewhere else.  He was extremely rude and had absolutely no customer service skills, he had an "I don't care attitude" . After a little back and forth, I asked for a manager and he said he was the branch manager.  I again asked him if he could work with me on the price, since I had reserved an economy car, and he again refused.  My Boss then came into the store and I called your corporate number.  My boss asked Danny if this was company policy, he wouldn't give a straight answer and shrugged it off. I ended up calling corporate and they promptly assisted me with the rate, so I rented from that location, despite the awful customer service from Danny. This will be a lengthy review of what has been the worst experience I have ever had with a company. I made reservations scheduled to be picked up on Wednesday at the Thompson Ln location at 3:00. When I showed up with my wife at the counter there was no one to be found. After waiting approximately 10 minutes a women finally comes up and sit down behind the counter while on her bluetooth. She never took the time to greet us. First time she addressed us was her motioning me to give her my I.D and credit card. She only spoke when I asked how much will it be and she said she does not know yet. This is all while talking on the phone about court dates and other personal issues. I spoke up after she decided to sit in her chair without doing anything for a few minutes and told her we are in a hurry and that she was being rude. she claimed the client on the phone is just as important as us and we told her is obvious is a personal call. She then got upset and told her she will call her back in 2 minutes. After that she did not address us again unless we asked her questions. She checked the car outside told me to sign and left. The car inside had cigarette burns and it could not smell worst. We went back and told her that she did not even bother checking inside. She again got an attitude checked inside and left. We tried asking her question and she flat out ignored us. We asked for a different car and she said she did not have any even though it was obvious they did. I called 7 other locations to swap the cars and only the Smyrna location was professional over the phone. Antioch did have a car so we went to swap it out because the smell was unbearable. We complained to the "manager" that was at the Antioch location at the moment and he showed no interest or even acted like her care. We got another car "Mitsubishi Mirage" that did not smell bad however it was not cleaned at all, the trunk had about 8 Mcdonald's cup and the gentlemen even laughed when we noticed. After the process was over and the car was cleaned supposedly "again" we noticed the thread was extremely low and even dangerous. They did not have another car and I continued calling locations in the area and no one seemed to want to swap the car out. I called about 4 locations near Chicago "our destination" and they said i can come the next day but it will not be guaranteed. 4 hours after driving our back driver seat tired blew out on the highway just like we feared it would. We called hertz and they said it will be 80 dollars for roadside assistance to put the spare in. it was 2 am at the time. I decided to change it myself. we drove about 300 miles with a spare and finally arrived safely at our destination. I then took the next 1 hour and 42 minutes talking to about 12 location between Elgin Illinois and Chicago and not one person wanted to make the swap. I called and said I wanted to make a reservation and they told me they have cars available but when i told them that it will be a swap they changed there story. I called corporate and different customer service and not many was able to help. I finally decide to drive to O'Hare and make the exchange. I was there for 2 more hours. They said they would charge me for the tires "of Course" and when i called Antioch the gentlemen claimed that the car had just came out of Firestone and that the tires were brand new. Yea just like he claimed the car was washed. We finally got another car a Chevy Spark and it was in better condition however, of course is hertz and there is always a problem. 2 days after driving it we got a ticket because the license plate was expired. I vow to never use hertz again and anyone that i can stop from using them I will. I know many people who had other terrible experience. Not once did we get an apology or any kind of empathy from anyone that we talked to. a lot more than what i described happened. there is no way to put into words the terrible horrible experience we had. I enjoyed my vacation but Hertz made me waste more time than we should have. I urge anyone who dare reading this to pay the extra dollar for another company. You do, after all, get what you paid for.
