Landed at FAR with a reservation and no one staffed at the counter. Every other company had 2 representatives at their counter. After almost 10 min of waiting, a young lady arrived and casually asked if she could help me, no apology. - their outdated credit card machine without "tap" capability would not read 2 of my Amex Reserve cards. Resulted in me using personal card which will cause me major work headaches. - told me my "gold" membership is expired. I'm a President's Circle member - told me I have no credit card on file, my online account clearly does have a card in file - worst customer service I've had with Hertz and will not utilize Hertz in Fargo ever again. read more

Had a bad experience. First they downgraded me from the car I reserved. Then they told me it had no blemishes (really? on a car with 32000 miles!). I had to make a trip back to the desk with detailed damages. Then the 'needs maintenance' light was on when I started it, necessitating another trip to the desk. The windows were so dirty with water spots I had to improvise a way to clean them. THE front tires were close enough to correct pressure, but the rear tires were 10 psi over; very dangerous. I complained when I returned it. The check was rather glib; 'maybe we will do better next time.' After this experience, my worst having rented at least 100 cars, there will be no next time. read more

Horrible location. They over booked and never notified me about their mistake so when I arrived I found the location had closed early. They wanted to still charge me for the rental even though I never got a car. This place is a scam and hertz needs to cut ties and remove this location. The primary positive of this is that they had Availability, a vehicle Available on demand. The reservation i made over the website was clearly 1-Way, yet every1 of the steps their system or employees made an error or their system provided them incorrect information, except for the End. When i picked up the vehicle the fella Bryce (at FAR Hector) asked or stated about returning in MSP, i replied "No, i selected Libertyville, Illinois as that was closest to my destination." Then the charge changed from the quoted $300~ish to $600~ish ... over/about "refundable deposit" . While that's Not new to care rental game, it becomes aggravating Quickly. Completed the emergency trip, when returning the next morning in Libertyville, IL ... At least Joey at that location wasn't fouling things up for Hertz. My charges in their system had ballooned to more than $800~ish for Absolutely No clear nor ubiquitous reason . Joey in Libertyville, IL also said according to what he was seeing "in the system" was that I was to return the vehicle (a red '25 Jeep Compass) to Fargo, ND Hector airport. Naturally i expressed displeasure at all of their system & employee errors (failure to operate & function properly And to Listen to their customers, What they're Literally saying) to Joey in the most courteous manner I could & he credited $500~ish back Appropriately to make the situation Right, Whole & Correct. The clerk called me 15m before they closed to let me know they were closing early, and to see how they could accommodate me. A+ for that. They will also add charges without informing you and when you sign to check out your car you are accepting these charges without your knowledge. Taylor at this Hertz location was a lifesaver. On a recent trip up from Minneapolis, my brand new Tahoe started experiencing overheating issues. With literally nowhere to turn and an estimated 60-90 minute wait for roadside assistance from Hertz, I quickly called over to this location. Not expecting them to be able to help, Taylor was very patient and reassuring and told me to just stop by and she would exchange the vehicle on the spot. Once the Tahoe cooled down I took the opportunity to get off of busy 94 and into this Hertz location. It's a small airport and thus a small Hertz desk with no Gold/Presidential board or fanfare, but, the level of customer service was paramount to any large, busy Hertz location I have been to across the US. Taylor was seemingly working by herself at the time and quickly took care of calling Hertz to report my issue, filling out the paperwork in order to get me into the replacement vehicle and even walked me to the new vehicle to ensure I had all of my belongings from the broken Tahoe. This experience was beyond 5 stars and was an amicable end to an otherwise unfortunate situation. Thanks again! read more

I am a Hertz gold member. I have rented from Hertz for over three decades including Europe and beyond. Many Hertz outlets are franchisees, which is the case here as I understand it. Pickup and car itself were no problems. However... Upon rental return, the counter person could not (appeared to me that he faked, but rather would not) give me a printed receipt. He asked if the car was filled up (which was and topped off too) and mileage. I replied, car was filled up and gave the mileage. I waited patiently for about 15-20 minutes for him on how to figure out how to get me my receipt. I was very early for flight. So no rush. He finally told me he couldn't give me a receipt and that he would wait for a supervisor to do it. I replied no problem, email me it and I left. Upon receipt of the email I see I was charged for a gas fill up. Called to complain and finally got an email from franchisee stating car was not filled up. I smell a rat. With the way the counter experience went down, I can tell something is up. Now, I can surely afford the extra $20.00, but some days you must make a stand. Today is that day. This franchisee is dishonest and a thief. Now if you want to do business with thieves, there you go. I emailed receipt from my visa tonight. I don't care if I'm refunded the $20. Not the point. I had the same experience as another reviewer. Filled up the car. Dropped it on Xmas Day. The day after Xmas I get a receipt which is correct. Today I get an updated one that says I have to pay a fuel charge. I have a receipt and the gas station was 3 miles away. Total scam. When I called the office the guy basically blew me off and told me it wasn't full. Called corporate...they were worse. Avoid...something is going on at this location. read more

HORRIBLE SERVICE. Management is just trying to run your money. Called and booked a car to go from Fargo to okc and back and told this to the people working where we were going and how long it was gonna take and everything. Get to okc and wipers don't work so we drive to 4 different locations to get a new vehicle and nobody can get us one. This took ALL DAY! Finally at the last place they call Fargo airport team and tell them everything and rude service from them, Lillian from okc management apologized about their behavior. We end up being told to fix the vehicle OURSELVES! This adds a whole extra day to our reservation and now we are missing work back home. Get back to the airport in Fargo and a $500 reservation is now $1300 they only booked us a 500 mile vehicle to go to okc. Excuse me? They said they can pay us back for wipers. After I complained they said $50 for gas for driving around. What?! What about the extra miles now too since I have to pay for that? This was a complete inconvenience with stress and anxiety having no working wipers in the winter time?! Seriously????? And I have to use my trip and time using the car to get it repaired? I am booking a working vehicle? Mind you when I waited hours in the body shop they said the oil needs to be changed like 1,500 miles ago and I looked and the insurance card was expired in the vehicle. This was the worst rental experience I have ever had. Colton has no compassion and basically said mam I gave you money for the wipers and some gas money there is nothing more I will do and I don't want to argue with you. What?? Only giving 3 stars because I believe 'Anthony' was his name was very helpful in handling an issue where I left my Raybans ($250) sunglasses in the vehicle I had rented out. I had called to inquire about me accidentally leaving my sunglasses and he managed to find them and my sister went and picked them up as I had already left town. Besides that...... ****** Absolute terrible customer service. When I went to pick up my rental another gentleman at the front counter was very rude while picking up keys. I had called to extend my reservation for my rental one day and the gentleman was very rude and didn't want to answer any questions I had about pricing for extending and he said I could find it in my paperwork without even offering to look it up and tell me. When it was time to drop the vehicle off and turn in keys, the same gentleman was on the phone and didn't greet us, he kept looking at me but didn't bother to say acknowledge I was standing there. He finally held his hand out for the keys still without having said anything to me, while on the phone he asked for mileage and whether I had filled up the vehicle with gas, I said yes and seconds later printed my receipt and put it on the counter and I left. As we we're leaving, he finally put whoever he was talking on the phone with on hold and very kindly assisted the couple behind me. Ended up with pretty high bill but midway through I called the local office and provided the corporate info. The price became very competitive. Ended up a new car for 3 weeks. Returned the Jeep trailhawk I had rented for two weeks and forgot to take out my school parking pass (worth 300$) and my rayban sunglasses (worth 250$). In the brochure it says they clean the car after returning and check for items. I had to call them two days later and ask if they found anything. They told me it was already rented out and they would search it the next day when it returned and call me back. Never received the call the next day and never was answered when I called back. so I went there and the woman working told me she would search it and call me back, never got a call again. So a week later I have called asking for my possessions and I was told it was still not searched and asked to leave my number for the 3rd time. read more

If I could give zero stars, I would. Reserved a 12 passenger van for vacation with 9 people. Called twice to confirm. When we arrived, there was no van but we could get a Yukon for 7 people. Not sure what they wanted us to do with the other 2. All we got was hand in our faces saying sorry. No solutions offered or other Hertz in the area called. Manager refused to answer phone or offer solutions when he did call over 3 hours later. Turns out they don't rent 12 passenger van so we were lied to the entire time. Hoping for two vehicle rentals maybe? We have two already and wanted to ride together! Enterprise gave us wonderful service, a discount, a new 12 passenger van, let us park free in the lot, and have new customers for life. read more

Hertz does not even deserve one star. I thought everything was going to be fine at first. But about two weeks into my rental (I needed one for a long time; I was in a deer accident last month and am trying to get a permanent car) I got a call from someone saying that they were going to put the car on their stolen car list. This was after I'd just talked to Scott, a manager, regarding extending the contract to a certain date (after said date, I'd have to sign new paperwork, for a new thirty day period). I was frustrated but kind. I told them Scott needed to put a note in the computer so that anyone on a future shift would know the arrangement that had been made. They agreed; we got things straightened out. I marked the deadlines on my dayplanner. However, by the time the 30 day period was up, I'd forgotten. I have fibromyalgia and arthritis; with that can come concentration and memory problems. I'd told them that and told them that a reminder call (though, not required) would be helpful. I remembered a few days later and made a mental note to call Hertz the next day to ask where we were at and to arrange to sign new paperwork. I hadn't heard from them. The next morning, I was RUDELY awakened by a Hertz runner continually ringing my loud, obnoxious doorbell. I suffer from insomnia, sleep apnea and unusual sensitivity to loud noises, btw, and hadn't had the best night, the night before. I tore off my C-PAP hose, went downstairs in my NIGHTGOWN, to see what was going on and he demanded the keys. I was angry and said they should have called me. I called them and expressed my frustration but Scott blamed me for everything, saying that since they hadn't heard from me, they didn't know what else to do. Now, I know business is business, but come on, they could have taken a lot less time and aggravation on everyone's part by going out of their way ONCE to provide a reminder call, before they threw up their hands and blamed/attacked/humiliated me like that! I had, after all, worked with them for a month and the runner did find the car parked by my townhouse so there are two good indications I wasn't intending to run off with their car! I griped all the way up to Hertz (the runner drove me up to try to straighten things out, as they'd revoked my driving privilege); finally, I just got tired of trying to talk common sense into the mean old guy, so I said, "Well, you're just paid to take THEIR side of it"! He said, "yup". What ever happened to good old fashioned customer service?! What happened to giving a good customer the benefit of the doubt?! I will NEVER do business with them again!!!
