Horrible horrible experience, from the moment I booked my rental until I returned my rental. I had a feeling in my gut, when I walked up to get my rental that this experience was going to be horrible. When I booked my rental, I called the Lincoln Hertz to make sure that if I prepaid for my rental and didn't use the car the entire time they would refund me the difference, as my car was in the shop. The Hertz employee said absolutely, it shouldn't be a problem at all. While booking online, the website said that my VISA was not from an accredited bank.. Hmm, Union Bank is local in Nebraska. So, my parent's put the rental on their credit card. 2 weeks go by and I take my car into the shop, Hertz is supposed to pick me up from the dealership at 7:15. After waiting 30 minutes, I called Hertz and nobody answered. The dealership courtesy driver brought me to Hertz and as I'm pulling up to Hertz I get a text saying your Lyft driver will be at your destination soon. I never ordered a lyft through Hertz and your an hour late.. When I get to Hertz I walk into the store and a man is sitting at the desk with his face in his phone. I can see a lady sitting in the back, feet on her desk face deep in her phone. After several minutes of standing around, the man says can I help you. Ugh, yeah I'm here to pick up a car I reserved online. After going through the paperwork the man says there is going to be a $20 hold placed on the card as a deposit, I said okay sounds good. Seconds later my parents called asking why Hertz put 2 charges on their card, one for $200 and one for $140. I turn around and ask the man, he says on I meant to say $200. With the most surprised look on my face I said $20 an $200 is a big difference. As I get off the phone, he says I need to see your card one more time, I said okay and handed it over. He goes I just made a REALLY REALLY big mistake.. I'm thinking what else could you possibly do wrong at this point? He said I should not have let you use that card to book your rental, your name MUST be on the card. At this point i'm just so irritated and late for work, I said it looks like that's your fault and you already charged me. He called the manager out and she said I guess we have to let her take it now. The employee then says let me find a car for you, how about this little toyota prius, I said no I paid for a 4 car full sedan. The employee was like well doesn't look like we have any available, as I'm looking out the window at a lot full of them. He said let me clean up a car and get it washed. They bring out this malibu that has dents and scratches all over it, looks like it came straight out of accident. As i'm walking out the door, he says don't forget you responsible for anything that happens to that car. I go outside take pictures in the Hertz lot and immediately send them to the manager. After leaving that night, the car dealership called and said my car was ready. So the following morning I go to Hertz to take my car back, the sign says the open at 7, but nobody shows up until 7:20. I had the car for less than 24 hours and I had prepaid for 4 days. Prior to the reservation the employee said that they would reimburse me for unused days. The manager refused and said she has no way to give the money back. I slammed the keys down and left. read more
