Be safe. Rent from someone else. This Hertz agency took my money but wouldn't give me a car. I'd rented a car for a week, through Travelocity (with a debit card) but when I arrived to pick it up I was told that Hertz no longer accepts debit cards & I'd need to pay with a credit card. Well, I don't have a credit card & I don't want one. So I had to leave without the car... and then they charged my debit card for the week. I guess their "no debit card" policy only applies if you want something in return for your money. When Travelocity tried to help me reverse the charges, they were told that it was a "non refundable reservation charge." No. It was theft. I'm on my third day of phone calls & emails with no resolution. UPDATE: A couple of weeks, a few headaches, & a dozen or so phone calls later... the charges were reversed. We rent from this location almost weekly and Elaina is so friendly and very accommodating when we need to keep the car a few extra days. Hertz will always be my go to place because they have excellent customer service. I recommend hertz to anyone looking to rent a car. read more

This place sucks boycott Hertz I'm gonna keep this short and to the point we went into your Oroville california car rental agency to pick up a car that we had reserved a long time in advance. So when we get there they bring out the car and the thing is filthy dirty so we said we're not gonna take that one. Set an a go back and clean it then I bring it back again and it still dirty so I said is still dirty. So then they take it back again and after this amount of time and we're there for an hour and a half they bring it forward and all of a sudden all these lights and buzzers go. The car is broken it's the only one they have so then they wanted us to take it anyway and we're like we can't take a broken rental car and by law you can't rent it to us. So then They said well we don't have anything do you want to cancel your reservation? No, we have a reservation we need a car we've already paid for a hotel. So we have to wait three hours and we come back and they got a car for us but guess what is this huge monster SUV. Well it turns out this thing is three times the price that we wanted to pay and that we requested But we have to take it. So we've already discussed this several times with your customer service and they're like oh calls us after the rental period is over just take the car so we did that. So then we finish the rental and I come back home and call and we are charged well over $200 extra that we shouldn't pay and I call your customer service and they offer me a $50 coupon because that's all they can do. And they're blaming the people that work at the local agency well they don't manage your assets it's not their fault totally that you don't have the car that we requested. So you're going to send me a $50 coupon for stealing $200 from me. This is bull please fix this. by the way I'm letting everybody I know on Facebook and everybody on YouTube know how bad you are. My family and I have rented from this location multiple times. The service is top notch and the vehicles have been in excellent and clean condition. The two ladies go out of their way to make us feel special. My wife was looking to buy a new car so we put in a special request for a Nissan Rogue and called ahead but they did not have one so the ladies made a phone call and brought one in from another location. read more

I don't know how these people stay in business at the Oroville store in California. I rented a car online for my birthday so that I may be able to visit family I haven't been able to visit in a couple of years and when I arrive around 2:30, they inform me that they've rented out my car to someone else as I was not here at exactly 1:00. I am extremely disappointed that they can do something like this on my birthday no less, it did not even say that I must be here at exactly 1:00 when I rented the vehicle. I will never rent from this place and I will inform all of my friends and family to do the same. read more

I tried booking online, paying and called in to confirm but they would not confirm details with me and put me on hold for 10 minutes then hung up. I was trying to do a one way which you are allowed to do via their website but the boss doesn't like his cars going one way so ultimately disregards the companies policies and does his own thing. Booked a car through online and shows that they have an available SUV. On that day of, they called me and told me they didn't have anything available and I panicked because my group needed that SUV for a trip. The lady sounded rude on the phone even before I had a chance to talk to her. It was my first time booking with Hertz here in Oroville and will probably be my last. Twice now I have booked online and was told I had a vehicle reserved from the Oroville, Ca. location and both times when I went in to get my vehicle at the schedule day and time I was told that they didn't have any cars available for me !!! I received no prior notification that I wouldn't have a car when I arrived. Also the woman at the front desk was extremely dismissive and did not try to help me in anyway. I can write a rant and essay explaining how this Hertz location provides poor customer service and was unprofessional. Instead, I'll provide you a list. 1. The representative did not explain the important terms and conditions that came with renting the car 2. The car was not prepped and cleaned beforehand 3. I had to wait 30+ minutes for the reps to service and examine the car I don't offer criticism without solutions 1. Explain the critical and important terms and conditions to customers (what is key info that we must know?) 2. Clean and prep the car before the customers arrive--especially if you have reservations more than 3 days in advance. In this case, my reservation was a month in advance. You have a calendar don't you? 3. If you resolved problem #2 problem #3 would not exist. read more

I used this location a few times. The staff here are really friendly and do what they can, but it is a really understaffed location. This is the second time I come to the office and there is no one at the desk and a line of customers. They are also not always available for pick-up because they don't have enough pwhich if I had known before paying in advance I would have gone somewhere else. read more

Absolutely horrible service! I reserved a car for 8:30 Tuesday morning as my car was in an accident and had to be dropped at the body shop. They told me everything was set and a car would be ready for pickup at 8:30. I got there and they don't even have the paperwork and NO cars available! Their solution...go get your car back from the body shop!! My car is not drivable! I will never use them again. They didn't even offer to get me a ride home! read more

When I declined they told me to go out of town for a car. Why in the living hell would I go out of town for a car when I needed a car to go out of town. They were rude, snobby, & unprofessional. I had a reservation for a car months in advance, on the day I was to rent the car, I was called and informed that there were NO cars available, and that I would have to be put on a wait list in case a car shows up. As I was preparing to write a review today about Hertz in Oroville, I noticed several reviews previously submitted, some good, some bad. While I realize that each person's experience often differs, I have to say that I encountered no such problems in the Hertz office. When I dropped by last week without a reservation to get a rental, I was greeted by Elaina who was very professional and courteous to me, in the midst of waiting on other customers, handling incoming phone calls, running in and out to check available or returned rentals, all while attempting to unfreeze her computer. When I returned a couple days to check on something, she was still busy, yet, most helpful and detailed. Upon my return of the rental this morning, Elaina was still the same...courteous, respectful, engaging, and very professional. In my opinion, she is a lovely example of what a customer service representative should be. read more

Thinking about renting a car? Look somewhere else. This location is under staff. Only one person working the front counter and a couple of guys sitting around doing nothing to help you. There was 3 person in front of me and I had to wait almost an hour to speak to her. When i told her that i reserved a car with hertz over the phone 2 weeks ago, she told me that i wasn't on their "board" and did not have a car for me. She asked me to wait 2-3hrs for someone to return a car in order for me to receive one. read more

Horrible experience all around with this Hertz rental. Picked up a car in Oroville to go on a trip to Fort Bragg and drive my boys up to the giant redwoods for their birthday. Got to Williams to discover the car had a horribly warped tire on it. Called the Oroville office, was advised to go to the Ukiah location and they would help me. The Ukiah location attempted to get a hold of their contracted tire company. No luck. Ultimately, they gave me a replacement rental that had just been returned. We had to wait for it to be cleaned and we were on our way. We later discover the replacement rental has a front tire with a big bubble in it and only a donut in the trunk. Hertz tells me I would have to pay for it to be fixed because I didn't purchase insurance (though the tire was like that when they rented it to me). I ask for a supervisor. The supervisor says he can have it fixed free-of-charge at a local shop. The problem is, all the local shops are now closed and will not be open until Monday. He suggests he can tow us to the next town, where we would still be stuck until Monday, or we can sit tight in Fort Bragg. So, our planned trip to the Redwoods is no longer possible due to the bad tire. Our kids are let down. We also are stuck staying an extra night in a hotel, buying extra food, and missing work. Monday morning comes and first thing I call all the tire shops in town to learn that none of them have the right size tire. I call Hertz Ukiah, which is about an hour away, at a little after 9 a.m. The rep in their office tells me he will notify the Oroville office of these issues beyond my control and will send a driver to me in Fort Bragg with a 2nd replacement car. I remind him of the inconvenience we've already suffered and that hotel check-out is 11 a.m., after that we will be without anywhere to go. I receive no calls from the Oroville office or from Ukiah by noon. I call Ukiah back at 12pm. The rep has forgotten me. He hasn't even called the Oroville office! Thankfully I'd done so myself or they might have thought I'd stolen the vehicle! He assures me he is now sending a car my way...at noon. Just before 4pm, the driver finally rolls into town. That is over 6 hours after I initially called them and nearly 5 hours after check-out. We switch out cars and guess what? Just a few miles out of Fort Bragg, we discover our car squeals extremely loudly every time you turn right. Ukiah is an hour away. We drive straight there and make it one minute before closing. After even more of a wait and a drive out of our way, yet again, we get a 3rd replacement vehicle and are thankfully on our way home in a car without issues. What does Hertz offer us for our ruined vacation, extra expenses, and overall suffering? They offer to not charge us for the extra night we were forced to keep their crappy car! That's it! We asked for a full refund of the rental because the vacation in was intended for was destroyed. We did not ask for recompensation for the extra expenses or anything...just for them to make this right. They refused. It's greed at a disgusting level and customer service that really can't be called that at all...this is a very self-serving company. Thank you Shawna Woods for making the ultimate decision that my family didn't deserve to be recompensated and my boys didn't deserve a 2nd shot at a birthday without even giving me so much as a call to hear what we had experienced. read more

I want to say that if I could give this place a minus 5 stars I would. The woman named Elaina at the Oroville location was extremely rude to my husband and myself. Couldn't have been more unprofessional in her behavior and it wasn't only the rude behavior but also the comments made by her male "friend" that she had sitting behind the counter and also was in and out of the office as well. I don't believe that he worked there. I mentioned to the woman the there was no need to be rude to customers and after that she claimed that the truck she had just agreed to rent and for when we had a reservation, was suddenly in need of an oil change and wasn't "going anywhere" and the male friend behaved in a threatening manner towards my husband and told him "why don't you just get out of here and make a complaint" Which is what I am going to do. Just warning those of you that may consider renting a vehicle from this location. We have rented cars from Hertz for many years and have ever been treated so horribly. This woman should not be working with people and a respectable business should not tolerate that behavior or an employee bringing their friends or otherwise into the situation. If I could give them ZERO STARS I WOULD! Prepaid for a full size car online and the morning of, the worker said she didn't have my reservation until I showed her my reservation # in which she finds it then said they don't have a full size car but I can go to Chico. Why the fuck would I want to go to chico when I need a car to leave out of town yet have to drive further to get a car I prepaid over a month ago. A customer walks in and she doesn't have a car for them either and unprofessionally says out loud "What the heck?" Then she said she'll clean a car for us which I said fine. She FAILED to inform me it was a downgrade for what I paid for and that gas was on empty that as I drove off before realizing it and the gas light turned on. This is the 3rd time they've fucked up my reservations so it's only proved how unprofessional they are and how much they don't give a crap about paying customers who bring money to their unprofessional jobs. read more

Worst rental car experience ever. I am not sure how they do business. I rented a car for 3 days through my auto insurance. I keep getting calls to return a car that I never rented. I went back in person to discuss why I still show as car being outstanding when I had returned the car 2 days prior. Turns out my contract was mixed up with someone else's contract. They showed me as renting a different car. Before I left their office I was assured they fixed the problem but WRONG. I still kept getting calls to return the car. I have photos of car that I did rent and it is NOT what they show in their records. I talked to someone on phone 2 days in a row after visiting the office in person. I also had my auto insurance call them and again was told the problem was fixed. WRONG again. Today my bank account was just charged $117 for a rental I never had!!! Their manager is nowhere to be located. They have one person at the desk swamped with dozens of rentals and NO WORKING COMPUTERS!! Do not rent here. read more

I have done business at hertz for a couple years I dealt with sherry who was very much into renting cars. As that's what this ace is for. My mother in law was dying and I needed a car to get to her I called made reservations. When I got to this location after a long drive I had someone give me. Ashley greeted me with we have no cars call tomorrow after 2:00. It was about 4:00 with about at least 6 cars I can see to be rented out. Ashley is very rude I don't know how she is still employed here. Also I called back to try and rent another car and the girl lied about her name and proceeded to hang up on me. I don't know what kind of business this is but it's not the same one sherry ran. Ashley and whoever else answered the phone are awefull people. They rent cars for people who need them for certain reasons. I felt very upset about the treatment I received here. I'll never go back and everyone I know can tell you the same about Ashley she is bipolar or has issues she needs to keep at home. I'll continue my business across the street at enterprise. read more

had horrible experience!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i've booked a car on july 2, 2015 @ 5:00pm via online. i paid for it and had the confirmation number. when i went to go pick up the car on that desired date and time the car was not available. i was told to go home by a female employee and they will contact me later when the car was available. i came home and waited. i have not heard anything from them and i decided to called them back. i spoke to the same female employee and she told me to continue waiting as they are still waiting for the car to return. the staff there are rude, unorganized and lack communication skills. i told her to cancel my reservation since she cannot give me a car. she said she will do so and there should be no penalty against me. i called hertz customer service team and spoke to a representative regarding my reservation just to double check if it was cancelled. the customer service representative indicated that my reservation is still exist. i told the customer service representative of the situation and asked him to cancel my reservation as i did not get a car. got my reservation cancel through the customer service representative. read more
