From the representative that called me in regards to our rental, to your young man who was at the location and got us into our rental and on our way, our experience at this Hertz location has been excellent. Both individuals were very nice and polite, both were quick yet thorough. Unlike Budget, there were no hidden surprises when we arrived at the rental location. Here at Hertz, it was exactly as we had been told, and in today's world, sadly, integrity has almost become nonexistent with companies, it was very nice and stress free. I used to rent here regularly. I don't use credit cards, and never had an issue renting here. So I reserved a car for a quick trip, and because of an experience recently while traveling, I went through the rental agreement online, and it clarified that Hertz rented without credit cards. Got there a couple hours before I was due to leave and SURPRISE! They required a credit card. The staffer pointed to a small print notification taped to the counter, but that information wasn't the same as what was posted on the website. I told her I'd rented here before without a credit card and she said that wasn't true. It wasn't the fact that they don't take cards that turned me off the place. It's the fact that she denied that I'd rented with a debit card in the past. Especially since she's the one who always rented to me. This is the kind of thing that loses business. read more

This location is pure garbage. The lady in the office is hands down the most arrogant, rude, disrespectful person I have ever met. Rented a truck for work, I'm a Timber faller, paid for the extra liability coverage with being in the woods every day and carrying chainsaws in the bed. After returning the truck got an over $15,000 repair bill charged to the card that was used! The lady said that the extended coverage I paid for was no good because the truck was used on a dirt road and there was a fuel spill in the bed! Well no shit! I work in the woods everyday and have at least two chainsaws with me everywhere I go! That's why I bought the extended coverage! Meeting with an attorney and going to have to sue. It was a straightforward process to drop off the rental. Hertz is located in the same lot as SJ Diem brought the car in, handed them my keys and contract, and they took care of the rest. The only disappointing thing is you're not allowed to rent a car unless you bring it back to the same locations, so that is a bit frustrating. read more

Avoid Herts in Redding, CA at the airport. Please go to any other company. They added a $300 cleaning fee because of a little hair from a service dog. I asked to speak to a manger and never got a call back. Very unprofessional. Poor experience. Steer clear of them! read more

This was the easiest and most pleasant car rental experience I've ever had! I reserved a truck through kayak.com,we needed to drive to southern CA because my husband's mother passed and we needed to take care of her apartment (etc). It was a stressful situation and this place was so friendly and helpful they made it so much easier! They let us change our pick up time, the lady at the counter asked if I had anything that would help us get a discount, and when i dropped the vehicle off it was less expensive than we'd been expecting! Rude ladies working here. Straight Bishes, go to enterprise on cypress, they have way better service. Ladies act like you're a pain for bringing them business. I was quoted 600 for a week for a vehicle over the phone 440 w $200 refundable deposit because I was in an emergency to get to work when my Jeep broke down. Got here to pay and they tried to charge me over $800. Were annoyed that I questioned them. These ladies act hungover and rude, and ruined my day when I was already really stressed. We brought in our rental car because the front tire was losing air. Their agent advised us to "just keep driving until the light turns red" because she said it was a glitch with Nissan. Fortunately we did not do this, and brought it in to get serviced, where they found a screw in the tire. It is 95 degrees out and we're going to a remote location. That agents advice could have killed us, not to mention how condescending she was. I did not get her name, but she has a red bob and was working the Friday before Labor Day. Never thought I would write such a negative review, but this one is absolutely necessary. The Hertz rental company on N Market is... Garbage. Honest to god, I have never stepped foot in a worse business ran by a company who lies. I've had my fair share of bad experiences, but this one was baffling. I didn't catch her name, but the woman I spoke to about renting a car who seems to have a superiority complex treated me & my mother like we were below her (I could tell by the tone of her voice). I would also like to add the fact that the Hertz company needs to re-evaluate who they hire, because their staff seem inadequate and not fit for the job considering their so called "customer service" skills. Let me now dive into the fact that the HERTZ CAR RENTAL COMPANY LIES. They lie and they do NOT answer their phones, or their emails, OR THE LIVE CHAT. Go ahead and give them a call, they'll just tell you they have "longer waiting times" because they are obviously under staffed and again, need to re-evaluate their hiring methods. They don't ever answer. If they did, I wouldn't have waited on the phone for a solid 20 minutes. Anyways, as I mentioned previously, this company LIES. They say on their website EXPLICITLY that they rent to those 18 and over... If that were true, why did the lady I spoke to about renting a car tell me it wasn't true and that they won't rent to me if I'm not over 21? I am 19 almost 20, a full time college student who works, pays bills, and has an excellent credit score... And this woman at the business refused to rent a car to me just because I am not 21. I currently have no vehicle for a week because my car is in the shop having work done, and because this company LIED to me and misled me to believe that I could rent a car at 19 (THEIR WEBSITE EXPLICITLY STATES THEY RENT TO 18 AND OVER) I am now completely car-less. If I could rate 0 stars on a review, I would. That's how trashy the North Market Hertz car rental was, and that's how HORRIBLE the company themselves are. They don't give you a car that remotely compares to your own. They tell you up front no pets. I have two dogs, what if I have to go to the vet?!?! Their Subaru only gets 18.4 mpg on the freeway and that is staying under the speed limit. Go up to 65 and the mpg drops to 16.5. read more

I rented a car at the airport location. When I saw the billing statement it had 4 extra charges particular to the airport location. I was not aware or informed that I would be changed extra for renting at that location. When I brought the car back all was fine until 4 days later I got a call informing me that there was an odor in the car and they were going to detail it and charge me $300 for it. There was not an odor when I brought it back and it was received with no notice or mention of it. The car was not available for me to go check it out with a staff member for me to assess it myself. My car is in the shop getting repaired. My insurance got me a rental car. They use Hertz My rental car got stolen and was found a couple days later. My insurance paid the tow charge and the charge to make a key for the car. I have to pay them another 50.00 deposit and pay to fill the gas tank. I had already paid them a deposit of 50.00. So total charges 168.00. And they said they could not rent me another car to go somewhere else. They got the car back and everything paid and then some. read more

I got in an accident and my insurance is contracted with HERTZ so they sent me there to get a rental. Every woman I spoke to, whether on the phone or in person was just plain RUDE and had absolutely no customer service skills. They had no sympathy for what I was going through and did not make me feel welcome or reassured working with them. The first car I got was a compact car, when I had requested a mid-size sedan. After 1 day of driving it, I didn't feel comfortable or safe and called to request an exchange into a car that I had requested. They were very rude about it and said they'd call me if they had one come in. They eventually did call me to come in a get a different rental, which I went to get after work. I realized after they had driven the car to the lot to park, I had forgotten some paperwork in the glove compartment and asked if I could grab it. The girl wouldn't give me the keys or walk me out to the car to get it. She just pressed the unlock button on the key fob and told me to walk out and get it. By the time I got to the car, it had locked again. I tried calling on the phone from across the parking lot to ask her to press the button again, but no answer. I tried multiple times, ring ring ring, no answer. I could see from across the parking lot that there was 1 customer inside and no reason for them not to answer my call. I ended up walking back inside and to the woman's desk and telling her the car locked itself again and I was trying to call her to ask her to open it again. She proceeded to tell me, in the snappy tone all the women there use, she had other customers she had to help and couldn't answer the phone... Seriously? I have been here the whole time, I can see how many "customers" you have and I can assure you that I was here BEFORE the other one in the waiting room. She should have finished with me, made sure I had what I needed, before moving on to another customer. 2 weeks later when my insurance is going to stop paying for my rental and I have to work something else out I call HERTZ to see if I can work something out to keep the car I had. They say I'd have to come in, pay a $200 deposit again and do a new transaction. Which reminded me that I had looked at my credit card statement and noticed they had charged me a total of $259 for the 1 day rental I returned and the 15 day rental.... So I asked why they had charged me so much because my share should have only been the $100 refundable deposit and about $80 for my 20% of the daily rate. When questioned, the woman got very upset, like I was questioning her intelligence. Then she badly tried to explain, but I could tell she didn't even know why...but talked to me like I was stupid for not understanding why I was charged so much. Instead of using polite customer service and asking me to hold while she figured out the error that THEY made, she would just say "Hold On" and slam down the phone, then come back and say some stuff and when I'd still not understand and question it, she'd then do it again....several times. Until finally she had what I assume was her manager, April I think her name was, pick up the phone and ask me what I "don't get about the charges"....RUDE! I explained again that I had one charge for the first rental at whatever rate, then they charged me again for the second rental the next day for the other rate. Which in total was about $80 more than I should be charged altogether. She told me not to worry about it, that when I returned the car they would only charge what my amount is and the rest would fall off...I had to take her word for it...At that point I decided I didn't want to continue business with them when they're so rude and I would just be returning the car the next day and going to Enterprise for the remainder of time that I needed a vehicle. Luckily when I returned the car the next day and reviewed my account a few days later she was right. I still think I should have received an apology for the overcharging and me not understanding instead of the demeaning tone I got. All in all, it was a horrible customer service experience. This review doesn't exactly paint the full picture because I can only say so much on here...but I would NOT recommend HERTZ to anyone. They need training in customer service skills, because they have none. Enterprise on the other hand was EXCELLENT!! They were so nice and they helped me get a good deal for a rental for the couple of days I needed it. I will be sure to go to them from the get go next time I need a rental car. read more

I too was sent here by my insurance after a huge accident. The lady I checked out the car from seemed to be snappy and have a small attitude. No one makes any small talk or makes you feel welcome here. Getting a rental made me really anxious but I needed a car to commute to work. My car that was totaled was a Toyota and they gave me a Dodge Dart. Horrible on gas. It was $30 to get only half of the tank filled. I only drove this car for work so Thankfully I did not have to fill a full tank. I got a call barely 1 week after saying that I needed to return the car that day before 5:30pm. I dropped everything and used my whole entire lunch break to fill the tank and get a carwash. My insurance then (last minute) extended my rental for 2 more days. I checked in with someone named April to see if it was actually extended and she was helpful during that time. I thought she was maybe sympathetic towards my situation. The day I went to return my car I made sure my gas was full. I drove it to work and then directly to the rental place right after work. I pull up, hungry and tired, ready to go home and I give the keys to April. She goes and checks the car and then comes in and says I need to top off my tank. I looked at her bewildered. My tank was a hair under Full. How the heck do you think I drove here? It's going to use some gas. I walked out and started crying and went to the sketchy gas station across the way to barely fill the car. These people have no sympathy whatsoever. I came back and she was busy and no one acknowledged my existence. April seemed to be with someone in her office so I waited. After 15 minutes sitting up front April yells from her office "you can go now just leave the keys up front". I did not get my $50 deposit back or anything. NEVER GO HERE IF YOU HAVE THE OPTION. read more

So incredibly disappointed in the "customer service" this company provides. I rented a toyota corolla for a day trip to see my mom in sacramento. I was charged $370 because they "smelled marijuana in the vehicle and it cant be rented out like that so it had to be sent out for detailing" which is absurd because nothing, absolutely NOTHING was smoked, blown in the vehicle! To be treated like a child, and poorly because they're having a bad day or frustrated isn't right. I will never go to that hertz again. This would be my 3rd experience through this same location and this last time was terrible! The rental car I received was so dirty on the inside I brushed the passenger seat and all kinds of dirt/dust and crumbs went into the air. I called within the hour that I got it and complained that I wasn't comfortable with this car and putting my child in it being this filthy, did it even get cleaned from the last person?!? The lady said she would have to check each day for any rentals that could become available. That was on the 30th, it's now the 2nd and still haven't even had a phone call regarding it. Car was totaled by semi truck so had to rent car for a few weeks till I bought new car. Dropped it off and accidentally left garage door opener in it. Called and female (Manager) was super rude and demeaning. Basically unless I paid $20 and went down to Fex Ex to open an account, I wasn't going to see garage door opener again. The stupid things cost $20!! Why would I waste an hour of my time going to Fed Ex and open an account?? Hertz is a million dollar operation. I spent minimum of $600 there just in the past few weeks and can't get the garage door opener sent for free or just charge to my credit card??? I've had hotels send my pillow in mail for free after one night stay (only $120 spent). Thank you for doing business with us, we're gonna screw you over. I know where my money is not going again. Very disappointed in the customer service at this location AGAIN. I have rented hundreds of cars in my life. At least 3 times at this location. Every time I go to this location, I tell myself "NEVER AGAIN". I was helping a friend get a loaner while his car was in the shop with insurance coverage. The woman working that day was rude, inconsiderate, and we asked for someone else. She had the audacity to push me on the shoulder to tell me how ticked off she was of me - haven't been manhandled by a clerk in a long time if ever. As a previous reviewer said "the RUDE and inconsiderate woman there needs to find another job that does not require any human interaction. I would have given NO stars if that was an option." I then called the owner of the dealership and did not feel like he really cared or even believed me. All in all it was a disgusting episode, and like I said, not the first time. We would have walked out but it was a complicated insurance setup and there was no time. Too bad, because I really hate supporting such lousy service. If you need a car in Redding, either go to the other Hertz location at the airport or use another company. I have relayed this story to friends in town and they all say pretty much the same thing that the customer service at this Hertz location on Market Street is horrendous. read more

Don't waste your time renting here...just head straight to Enterprise Rental car...I made my reservation a month prior and I was reassured of the vehicle size that I would be receiving...once there at 8am in the morning I'm informed I'm in a skateboard with wheels ( Kia Soul ) as apposed to a mid-size I was promised and they want a far larger deposit ( twice the amount ) then Enterprise... so I called Enterprise...had my insurance reservation switched to them...they came and picked me up...put me in a brand new Toyota Camry at no additional fee and all this within an hour of the miserable experience at Hertz. read more

Came in about a week and a half ago to rent a car for a weekend trip because I've had friends rent from here and they said they had no problems. When I got there, the first thing that hit me was the SMELL! The office has an incredibly strong incense smell that instantly gave me a headache and even made me feel a little nauseous. They were somewhat busy so I took a seat while I waited my turn to get a car. I was only waiting about 5 minutes until I had no choice but to get up and walk out. My headache turned into a migraine and I was feeling nauseous from that smell and needed air. I ended up going elsewhere to rent a car for my trip. Im not one to be easily bothered by smells, but this was so intense. Im sure others have felt the same way. I really hope they realize how strong the smell is and do something about it soon. read more

Terrible costumer service, received rental car through aaa while car was being repaired. They have you pre sign paper work inside and failed to note the tank was not at a full tank despite their employee pulling the car around to the entrance. Claimed I returned car with less gas than I received it with, although I only had car for an hour and drove straight home and then to pick up my car from a dealership which is less than 1 mile from my house. Charged me for gas although it was an error on their side and on their employee for not properly documenting what the cars gas gauge was at when i received the car. Do NOT rent from this location, this is a franchised hertz located in a collision center... they give u horrible cars that r not safe to drive.. they gave me a 2013 dodge with 47,000 miles on it plus it didn't feel safe to drive because it was making a weird noise as I'm driving.. the person who gave me the car was nice but didn't know what she was talking about. . 1st I picked up the car on Friday and returned it on sunday, she Said when u return it here , cross the street and leave the keys in a drop box in another collision center related to them.. well guess what? There was no drop box and none of the 2 places was opened.. I stood there for 1/2 hr trying to contact customer service 3 times with everytime they would hang up in my face..Apparently, I am supposed to return it at the airport location if its on a sunday.. well I was never told that neither that was written in the agreement when I chose to pick up and return in the same location close to my house.. they are very unprofessional and ignorant location.. now I have to return again to them to return the keys..
