I cannot say enough bad things about this place. I had a reservation scheduled for Monday morning pickup a week in advance. They call me 10 min before my reservation and say I should go to the airport to get a car. I tell them no, (there's a parking lot full of cars) because I made the reservation there and I have to go to work. I show up, they take my info (very slowly) and then proceed to tell me they are going to drive me 20 min to the airport to get the car because they don't have any there. On the drive there, the lady told me that she spent her weekend cleaning 18 cars at the airport and that every single car in the lot at the loop location was dirty. Why the hell would you not bring the clean cars to the location with the reservations, or clean the cars at that location beforehand?. I get to the airport and have to re-do all the info (the lady here was very nice). I'm late for work because these people can't get their sh*t together and be prepared for reservations a week in advance. read more

Enterprise has made a mess up and out was going to force us to change our whole vacation plans since we needed a bigger car for the road trip. We were walking past Hertz after being really disappointed with enterprise at the airport. We stopped on a chance hoping maybe hertz could help us. Robert there at the desk went above and beyond to find us a car to fit our vacation needs. He did it with a smile and joked with us to calm us from being so irritated and frustrated with the other company. Robert was fantastic and more than happy to help us! read more

I rented a car for 9 days I turned it in on time and started getting 5 day late charges because the person in charge did not close out the account. Then I got a call because Hertz said I needed to return the car which I already did on the due date. Then they charged a higher rate than agreed on. Then they charged me an extra day. So after many calls to Hertz, supposedly I will get my deposit back with the credit they charged my account. So, a complete nightmare experience with the Hertz on loop 323. I will not rent from them again. Big lesson learned. But the People in credit, and others did their job to help fix the nightmare. So we will see if I get my credits back. read more

One star It's not uncommon to go in and see certain people just sitting around talking and not helping anyone out, I have seen a few people actually working then many times I've been there. There is a Detailer named Josh who seems to always be on point and doing his job. And another named david who is always sitting in the office talking with everyone instead of working, then you have the rude ones like brook who just talk to you like you are annoying them. I think everyone should equally be working and not just sitting around letting certain people do all the work. I have been here many times and that has been my experience. I have not had one good desk worker that has helped me out without seeming like I am annoying them. Very bad experience. People who do their jobs need the credit and people who dont, dont deserve to be employed. read more

TOTALLY get why there's only one star rating for this location. Hertz corporate website, where I booked the rental, said that they'll pick me up at noon on a Saturday. Called to confirm--this is not the case. They neither pick people up on Saturdays, nor do they stay open past noon Saturdays. Not sure if the disconnect is Hertz corporate, or this particular location, but either way, just expect that things are different than their website states. ***The man who helped me once I got to their Tyler storefront, Clint, was a saint and he put up with my bad attitude which had accrued due to the lame Hertz website. I don't believe that the suckiness can be blamed on the locals who work at the storefronts. read more

It's kind of a sketchy place and they don't have many cars. Aristotle was nice and courteous. They will pick you up and drop you off.

Update from my previous review: This place is trash. Literally the sloppiest, most unorganized business I have ever been to in my entire life. Every single thing that happens with them is some sort of screw up, some problem, or they throw something on you out of the blue. They seem like they never have any idea what they're doing at any given time. My experience having to deal with this place with 2 rentals: 1st car rental pickup, only one left. Not a big problem. They pull the car up and the guy says "well the tires are low, but that's just because the sensor acts weird when it's cold out". We take the car and figure, whatever we will just fill up the tires. We fill up the tires. The next day my girlfriend takes the car to work and the tire blows out. Guess it wasn't just the sensor. She calls to get the car swapped. The guy brings the car, she said he was rude and seemed like he was in a bad mood. He gave her the keys, didn't have her sign anything, didn't explain anything, and just left. Fast forward a few weeks, she decides to swap the car for another model because we were going to take a road trip. She calls and apparently they thought her account was closed already since they had the original car (the one that had a blowout) back at Hertz. The guy says to her, and I'm not making this up, "Ohhhh! So that's where that car is! We were looking for it..." (talking about the car she currently has and was switching). They literally didn't know where one of their cars was... So I'm guessing the guy that dropped off the car for the swap a few weeks back didn't do anything when he got back to Hertz, just gave the keys away. So now, we've had the third car with them for a while, then suddenly she gets a call last night that apparently her car "was finished with repairs". So she thought her car was done being fixed, and they called Hertz for some reason first, and that she could return the rental. Call Toyota about her car... Nope still being repaired. Okay, lets call Hertz to find out. Apparently the rental is way past due and she needs to return it or and she owes them $150. What? No one said anything about a return date. No one outlined any charges. Although, I'm sure they raised the daily rate for the new car she's renting, but they didn't lower the daily rate when she had their absolute most basic model for a month. So now we have to go and figure out why she was called a week and a half AFTER the apparent due date saying the car was due back. We have to figure out how all of a sudden the total was $150 over the large maximum the insurance had set for rental, when we figured she had a few more weeks going at the rate that is on the rental contract. Oh and my Dad had to deal with these guys too, trying to set up a car rental. Called just to inform them he didn't need a rental car for another month or so. The guy on the phone wouldn't listen to him talk for 15 seconds, got upset with him, said he would call him back and said that if he called Hertz one more time, he would not answer or return his call at all. How unprofessional is that? Oh by the way, he never called my dad back.... Do yourself a favor and go with ENTERPRISE-- this place is the LEAST organized and MOST unprofessional place of business I've ever had the misfortune of coming across. Avoid at all costs read more

We rented a car that was supposed to been picked up at 11 AM as per our reservation. We arrived there and there were no vehicles. We didn't get a vehicle till 1:30 PM. A 2 1/2 hour wait. We had a funeral to get to that was in another state and because we left 2 1/2 hours late we hit really bad traffic in a large city that we were trying to avoid which set us back to another 2 hours more. The guy at the counter was not dressed professionally nor does did he act professional. He had a nonchalant attitude. The phone rang numerous numerous times and the manager (Aristotle was his name) in the back wasn't helping. Not trying to help answer the phones. We asked if there could be some kind of compensation for our delay and inconvenience etc. and they said no that there was nothing they could do. They told us that they upgraded our vehicle for out inconvenience for free, but the only reason why they upgraded the vehicle is because when the vehicle finally arrived it was the only one available, it was a Toyota Camry. When we returned the vehicle The following week I realized about two hours later that I had left my GPS suction cup device on the windshield of the car (it holds my gps). I called back to the location I return the car and they said that it had been transferred to another location. I called to the other location that they said it had been transferred to (Tyler Texas airport location) and they said that they would go and search the car and put it aside so that when I arrived I could pick it up (I spoke with Christian I believe). We then drove all the way to the other location and when we got there there was a guy named Paul there who was nice. However, he said that himself and Christian had searched the vehicle and could not find Our property. He said that it had probably been cleaned by the previous Hertz location and that it probably was in the lost and found etc. So we called over back to that other location and spoke with a lady who said that she cleaned it out herself and there was no GPS device in the vehicle. I spoke with Paul again and he said that he would check with the transporter guys when they returned to see if they had seen anything and hope that they would be "honest Abe's quote and tell the truth if they had seen anything. He said he would call me first thing in the morning also because Christian was going to be at the other location and will check to see if you had found anything. I never got a call back. Someone at Hertz definitely stole it. An extremely Delayed rental vehicle (2.5 hours), an unprofessional unhelpful staff at one location, and a stolen property. It was not a good experience. I unfortunately have to let others know about this poor experience so that they will choose another rental company. I will be posting this on all popular review sites I can find. read more

This place is unbelievable. I rented a car here (Jeep Renegade) on Friday, 9/16/16. I set up my appointment online and prepaid online: $34 Rental, $23 insurance. That's it. basically a $70, 1 day rental. My wife and I returned the car promptly the next morning. The gent whom we rented it from and I even spoke about how he works on Saturdays because he was there the weekend before when I returned my car then. At any rate, I had to correct him because the original price he gave me was $184, which I did not sign up for online. I was very specific to let him know that I would be returning it the next morning, Saturday 9/17/16. You see, my mother in law's funeral visitation started at 9am that morning, and we got up at 5am to make sure we had time to take the car back and get our children ready for the funeral. It was rough because we had taken the vehicle to Sulphur Springs, TX to our kid's ball game, and did not get in bed until 1am. It was already a long day. We advised this guy of our situation, and our need to return the car early that next morning. So, we were up at 5am and we returned the vehicle before sun up. I placed the keys in the lock box and parked the vehicle directly in the parking lot in front of the business. When I checked my bank statement, there was a $184 charge plus two $100 charges (I assume for the deposit) on my bank account. When I called the agency, a gent named Daniel answered. When I told him my issue, he stated that he had worked that Saturday, and there was no return on the car. He stated he was the one who checked them in. I told him he is mistaken and described what we did Saturday morning. He became argumentative. I asked him why he was doing this? WE HAD THE VEHICLE LESS THAN 18 HOURS. He simply did not check in the drop box vehicles until Monday morning or he is a thief, or simply incompetent and would not admit to his mistake. The gent who checked us out on Friday morning left the wrong pricing on the car. WE WERE VERY SPECIFIC THAT THIS WAS A 1 DAY RENTAL. When I asked Daniel for his manager, he was reluctant to let me speak with anyone. Within 1 hour, a gent named Aristotle called me back. He told me that he needed to "check with his guys" and would refund the $150.00 I was overcharged if it "checked out." This is robbery. They robbed me of $150.00 because of either their incompetency or they are simply thieves. I asked Aristotle on multiple occasions to please check their security cameras from that Saturday morning and they would see me returning the vehicle. This is no different than someone stealing my wallet. What a horrible experience to add insult to injury especially after my mother in law passed away. I will NEVER use this company again. I should have read the reviews first. $150.00? Seriously? When you go into this place, it is most certainly sketchy. The agents are nonchalant, like they could care less if you were even there. SO FAR, ONE OF THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EXPERIENCES I'VE HAD. I DO NOT RECOMMEND USING THIS PLACE AT ALL. Dishonest, unprofessional, sketchy. I feel like I've been robbed literally. Even if they do the right thing, it takes a minimum of 14 days to get my money back. If they are not honest with me, I am going to take this to the next level. Someone from their corporate office needs to check this place out. It makes me wonder if this is some sort of a system they have worked out there to rip people off for their own commissions or sales numbers. **Update: 9/27/16: I have contacted their online chats three times. The Hertz Rent A Car location on Loop 323 has a very nice staff. However, we will NEVER rent from Hertz again unless that is the only option. Rented a car for the weekend - picked up on a Friday at noon and scheduled to return on Sunday evening (5pm - knowing it was an after hours drop). Car was fine and I thought it was a reasonable price at the time of rental - for which we were given an amount. About 2 weeks later, I received an additional bill for another day's rental. After contacting the local agency, they verified that the vehicle was checked in / returned on time - most likely there had been a typo on the return date. Was advised to contact Hertz at the 800#. What a joke. Finally was able to talk to a person and was on this call for over 30 minutes. I was to receive a credit for the mistake. However, I was charged $88.41 and my credit was $75.21. Yes, I know that's not much of a difference; but all of the time I spent chasing this down is worth something. It's the principle of the thing - it's Hertz's mistake, my loss. Again - I plan to never use Hertz again and will certainly not recommend. read more

I called to get a car for one day while my car was in the shop. I was on hold for so long I could read all of the reviews. I could not get them to understand that I needed a car for the day while my car was being repaired. I simply wanted to know if they could pick me up from the dealership and then come to the dealership with me when my car was ready. I had to talk to two people to finally get them to understand what was needed. For some reason they had to put me on hold to see if they could do this on Friday. That was when I read the reviews. I came in late in the evening during a rain storm with a car full of kids, and my Truck in the shop having machanical issues; I was met with extreme curtiousy, experience, honesty, most importantly a timely manner. I was in and out and back on the highway with happy children on a Friday. I was more than accommodated when other venues left me without transportation in the storm. First of all, I have really enjoyed renting from Hertz on a business level till I moved to Tyler Texas. Our company employees use Hertz when we rent vehicles for business travel and I usually rent a vehicle 1 to 2 times a month or more depending on our work schedule. I use to live in Lubbock and I have traveled all over the U.S. and I have never encountered a Hertz location as the one in Tyler, TX. Here are a few of my experiences with the manager Aristotle at both locations. 1) Picked up a car from the Tyler Pounds location in the late evening. a. There were no employees to be found at the front desk and I said "Hello" in a loud voice so that anyone in the office could hear me. b. After about 10 minutes of trying to find someone, Aristotle comes out of the back office(door closed) with a girl. I'm sure it was his girlfriend or something but that was not professional at all and he was acting like it was not a big deal. He acted like he had just got up from a nap. 2) I had reservations for a vehicle in advance and I show up to the hertz location and they tell me that there is not a car available for rent. I understand this, if I had shown up without a reservation, but I had placed one weeks before. I was very frustrated and rented a vehicle from another dealer. 3) Trying to get a reservation on a pickup on April 2015. This is for a week rental. a. I called Tyler pounds and see what vehicles are available. Desk attendant states there is a vehicle available at the loop 323 location and he gives me the number to talk to Aristotle. b. I call Aristotle the first time and he states that there is not a large vehicle for rental. I say OK and I hang up. c. I call Tyler pounds back and they assure me the records show a large vehicle available for rent. d. I call Aristotle back and he states that he doesn't have anything for rent. I told him that I know there is a Pickup available. He tells me that he needs to talk to the location manager and puts me on hold for 20 minutes. e. Do you know what's wrong with this picture? He was the only employee working there and his favorite tactic is to put customers on hold and wait till they hang up. It's happened before. f. Well, that didn't work this time. It turns out, he was driving that vehicle and didn't want to give it up. I had to continuously tell him that I know there is one available and finally he said it would be turned in within the hour. g. Should a loyal customer or anyone have to go through that? If you asked the people that rented from the locations in Tyler, I assure you they would not respond in a good way unless he is not working there. I want to state that your front desk crew and the car cleaners are top notch. They are the reason that I try and stay with hertz from time to time. They really go above and beyond for me when I rent from Hertz. The problem is both managers. Aristotle and his manager. His manager will not return a call so that you can discuss your issues. read more

I have a reservation for a vehicle and am stuck at the collision shop because they don't have a driver and have no idea when a driver will be available. I can't go with Enterprise, because the insurance company handling these repairs won't direct pay them. I would have to pay upfront. The insurance company has gotten an earful, as well. read more
