I was a patient last spring. I went 3 times a week for 2 months. I didn't know about chiropractic. I think what I did helped me during that time. Forward to now. I'm a seasonal visitor to Yuma. I went back to resume my treatment. Whole different place. Britney at the front desk was the same BUT the Dr and the office manager Maria were not welcoming at all. First I was told my insurance wouldn't pay. They paid last spring but not now. I'm confused. Then the Dr was not very Friendly or welcoming and immediately wanted me to come every day. I didn't do that last spring. The others on Yelp here who say they are only after money probably have something. After they treated me a returning patient like that I decided not to go back. I tried Dr Devries he had very little manners he tried to sell me getting x rays when I said no he seemed to be mad. So I finally said yes to the xrays that I felt were just a way to set up a schedule of visits based on them. I had to go back to their office to get the results later in the day but really did not want to go (as I had never been interested in a series of visits. My wife came along to make sure they were being above board with me. When I arrived I told the lady at the front desk that the doc did not seem to like me and I felt the same about him as he had so social skills and was disrespectful to the clients ie me. After I spoke up to the receptionist Dr. Devries whole attitude changed and it turned the visit around an made the visit end well. I decided to try another visit with him on Jan. 13, 2022 after straining my back at the gym and AGAIN he treated me with no respect, I told him that I only wanted an adjustment since lower back was hurting from working out. His answer to me wanting only an adjustment was that I should just not work out. His attitude was negative set the tone of the exam to one of the worst I've ever experienced. I believe since I told him I would only come in as needed and not set up a treatment PLAN. Dr. Devries did not appear to like that at all and did not even say good bye. He was very unprofessional and disrespectful since he knew I was not going to sign up for a treatment plan. The only reason I rated the visit a 1 is because the staff are very friendly. I will not be going back and Dr. Devries demeanor would tell me he does not like clients that come in as needed. I first started chiropractic in Yuma at Advanced Chiropractic. I would show up and wait 30 minutes after being on time. After two sessions I switched to Heuser and couldn't be happier. When I walk in everyone is friendly and they take you back within 5 minutes. They are always ready to move you along and treat you as if your time was important to them. New snowbird to Yuma, went there told him what was wrong, took xrays which I paid out of my pocket, no treatment at all that day. Came back next day , cracked my neck as I was having headaches. Came back two days later, said I felt a lot better, cracked my neck again, hurt worse than when I went in, would not recommend. Didn't even look at my back as I complained about it. I've traveled around many different states, cities, and countries. I have had the privilege properly know and experience almost 20 different chiropractors. All with a slightly unique technique, style, and philosophy. This office was able to combine a number of the worst qualities into one sad business. Not only is this office an insurance "turn-and-burn" style chiropractor (the type that needlessly increase costs for everyone else without social gain) but they do it for everyone. You have insurance? -- GREAT, everyone we see who has insurance needs the maximum amount of visits allowed per month, regardless of actual pain or injury. Curing the the actual issue? -- Why... I can just treat it for life, then we collect for income. Don't have insurance? -- You definitely need to make numerous appointments on a bulk-plan. Feeling pain? -- Any businesses you walked into/shopped at recently? Maybe we can blame someone who has insurance and you might have a frivolous lawsuit on your hands. Then you can collect, and your back will hurt less as you sit in a beanbag chair for life collecting checks. There are some surprisingly well minded and skilled chiropractors in Yuma. This is unfortunately one of the worst overall by far. Do yourself, society, and the chiropractic medicine community a HUGE favor : Go someplace else, get a second opinion, and do NOT TRUST what you hear at this office. SMH read more

I went in for an adjustment & they wanted to do chest/back X-rays & neck X-rays. I was told my insurance would not pay so I needed to pay that day. No exam or adjustment. Next appt minor adjustment, and I was told I would need 30 more adjustments to get my back in shape. Are kidding me, what a racket!!! Dr DeVries never physically examined me, how could he tell where the swelling was? Needless to say, I won't go back. How can they treat 60 patients in 5 hours and do an adequate job? No way!!! Dr. Devries practice (Heuser Chiropractic) was obviously not where I wanted to have care for my spine from the moment I walked in the door. It's in one of the worst parts of town, the building and office are old and run down, and the people who run the place are rude and seemingly uneducated. I had to fill out a bunch of copy machine forms, filling in my info over and over, when it would have been easier for all concerned had the receptionist just interviewed me as has happened at most every other chiro office I've been to. After my hand cramping expedition, I was led through a dirty, smelly "therapy room" with some 40 year old traction machines to a very small xray lab with an old massage table I was required to sit on. (I am not able to sit for long without back support, and it was made clear this was where I was required to sit.) When Dr. Devries came into the room, he started asking me all of the same questions that were on the forms I filled out; making it completely obvious that I totally wasted my time and effort in doing so. Not only that, if he didn't like the answer I gave him, he would look at me blankly and continue asking the same question in the same way, over and over until he got the answer he wanted. I was very frustrated after a half hour of this, but then he began his "exam" where he pushed and pulled at my body causing me such pain I was sobbing after five minutes. When I asked him to please stop, I was told he "has to examine me". I was then made to stand still after this ill treatment, in front of a 40 some year old stand up xray machine while he did some xrays because "although MRI will show the soft tissues, it won't help me with viewing your alignment issues". He was authorized to xray me, so he did.... I have current spinal MRI's in the VA system that would show him easier and better what is wrong with me, but he wanted the xrays.... Then I was told I wouldn't be receiving an adjustment until later in the day, to give him time to "review the xrays" even though he was doing so while taking them. I had to waste three hours in town (I live 40 miles away) and then go back later for my adjustment. What actually happened is the clinic is closed between noon and 3pm and it was 12:15 when I was done. When the office reopened finally, Dr. Devries spent three minutes showing me the xrays and telling me everything I had already told him was wrong with me earlier. Then I had to have "therapy" in the smelly, dirty room with some reusable devices that weren't cleaned after being removed from the last individual. I could see the grease from someone elses head on the traction machine, and I wasn't offered a paper to put down before putting my head in that spot. I left there feeling abused and angry. My feeling is that the positive reviews had to have been written by the staff at Heuser, and that the practice opened there in March of 2014, when all of the good reviews happened.... read more

Heuser Chiropractic is GREAT! i Love how the staff and front desk is very friendly. I am first hand witness of how kind and respectful they treated our winter visitors ! I am a local resident and ive seen places where they do not like winter visitors. The Staff remember my name and make me feel part of a family and they truly care not only about me getting better but about me in general. They understand that care can get pricey at times but they will do EVERYTHING they can to ensure i or any patient gets the care they need at a REASONABLE PRICE; trust me they will WORK SOMETHING OUT! * * a plus is for just haring about it you get entered into a raffle for referring someone in!! GF posting on my account. I went in with severe and constant pain in my shoulder. Dr Devries' "treatment" involved jamming his thumb repeatedly into my shoulder thus making it hurt even more. He also moved my arm around a lot which added to the pain. Finally, he suggested I get my spine aligned. Why? Because Dr. Devries is a no trick pony who doesn't really know what he's doing. My bf had been going to him for chronic neck pain. Strange enough we seemed to be getting the same "treatment". And, strange enough, the solution to both of our problems required multiple trips to this clinic to the tune of thousands of dollars. I decided one trip was already one too many. My bf went one more time and questioned Dr. Devries about what he did to my shoulder. His reply that "some soreness is normal" didn't even come close to explaining the amount of pain I was in after seeing him. Well, my shoulder is fine now. Here's what it required: 1. a few ibuprofen = $5.00 2. bed rest = $0.00 3. a sling my bf made from one of my scarves = $0.00 3. not having a know-nothing quack jamming his thumb in my shoulder = $0.00 My bf's neck is also on the mend. How? 1. Upper back and neck massages by me (learned on YouTube) = $0.00 2. Yoga videos from the library = $0.00 BOTTOM LINE: The only relief you'll get from Dr. Devries is your bank account being relieved of its funds. read more

Today was my first visit, and I can't thank Dr. Doug and his team enough. I went trough an exam and x-rays to check my spinal alignment, and found out that it was worse than I thought. I went Dr. Doug a couple of weeks ago. He did the x-rays and then explained the issue to me. It would have been a long term treatment. As a Senior on a very fixed income, I did not feel I could afford it. Then a couple of days later Eloisas called and explained a way which could work for me. As a former healthcare provider I have decided to not seek health care services from your office for the following reasons; The possibility for cross contamination or nosocomial infection, I believe, is great in your treatment area. I have witnessed that the tables and equipment are not cleaned between patients. Immediately after one patient gets off the traction table another is placed onto it without any attempt to disinfect or clean the table. The straps used to hold the TENS unit paddles onto the patients are never cleaned between patients, although the paddles themselves are. Although my condition is caused by a pinched nerve in my neck it has caused muscle tension in the shoulder and neck areas, I brought this to the attention of Dr. Devries and asked about heat to help relax the muscles before traction, he discounted my request and seemed to be uninterested. Also I inquired as to why he was only concentrating on my neck and upper back, because after many years of employing Chiropractic health care, the Doctors have always adjusted the whole spine at every visit. This is the first time for me, that my whole heath overall along with a targeted treatment plan has not been employed from chiropractic care. Another issue although not medically concerning, Dr. Devries has had bad breath each time I was treated, I don't know if there is something he cannot do about it but it seems a bit unprofessional not to mention uncomfortable. read more

This office is very unprofessional. I went in to pick up my xrays the next day of my first appointment, and the doctor discuss outload my results. He stated this infront of his employees and at the front desk, "Your xrays were not what I expected, they do not look good at all, you must see this things". Not to mention they did not treatment they day of my appointment, they would not even discuss copay's with me until the doctor examine me. I automatically transfer care and I do not recommand this office to anyone. read more

I've been to many chiropractors before but this was the worst I've been too. When I was first a patient everyone was really nice but as soon as the insurance was stopping all my visits they became plain right rude. I had enjoyed it so much I was willing to pay out of pocket even though it's a much cheaper smaller looking office than Montero. although the place is dusty and looks like a shelter. No individual rooms for therapy just a big room with lots of beds and a few chairs. The chiropractor looks lazy he even talks like he's highly medicated in my opinion. Unfortunately you start to notice a lot of things when their true colors show. read more
