Fish Trap Charters - Great day to be fishing

He's…read moreconsistently gotten us on fish, even on days that appear to be slower based on other boats catches. When in season we've always landed out limit on snapper and he's usually been able to mix it up some as well. In addition to the usual red, white, vermillion snapper we've come away with trigger fish, Spanish and king mackerel, and on one occasion a 150 lb bull shark. Beyond getting us on fish their quality of service is great. He's very sociable and good with younger ones (we've taken 10 year olds out as well as adults only groups). Their service is summed up well in that when you arrive back at the dock his wife is there waiting with smoked snapper dip (Cajun and regular) with crackers to enjoy while they're cleaning your catch.

We did the 6 am leave out and even though they were a little late due to the uncertain weather, they made the time right. We caught fish for a little over 2 hours. Caught around 85, brought back around 65-70 fish. Worth the money to have them to clean and fillet. Karen has a little snack of a smoked snapper dip With crackers weighting for us. The dip is right on the money. We will be using them On out next trip for sure. Don't expect for them To baby you along the way. They treated the teenage boys and me (mom) like they did the men. Today was the BIGGEST day of the trip! A charter fishing excursion for our birthday boy! Birthday…read morein June but had to wait for the trip! It was a day of surrounding storms. There was so much lightning that we almost didn't get a chance to go. Thank goodness that all the Fish Gods were on our side. Enjoyed a breathtaking sunrise. I could have had 1,000 more photos but there were fish to be caught! Taking off through the bays at what seemed like 100 miles an hour, we felt so confident in Captain Chris. He avoided all the rain and we fished to the last possible second. We hands down caught over 100 fish! That is not a fish tale! They just kept coming! Some bigger, some smaller...some micro sized! Cooper loved all of the fish, just one after another. It never stopped. Action on all of our poles the entire journey. Ethan, Norm and I had the time of our lives too! Fishing or should I say, catching all morning long! Croaker, white trout, speckled trout, don't quote me on that one, pigfish, catfish, spot, drum, a crab but just missed getting him in the boat. Even some oysters! We had a lot of shark bites on our bait. It so happens that I caught the biggest catch of the day. 25 pound Black Drum. It happened so quickly. Coop suggested where I could fish in the front by him. At least when I was bringing him up he sat me down, kept a watchful eye and even wanted to hold me in the seat! If I could have changed it, I would have had him land it! I have to say I'm quite proud of my PB though! Captain Chris, a deep mahogany tan that was earned from the sea. A fisherman through and through. I could see him as a brother to Quint, the Captain from Jaws for those of you not familiar. He had just the right amount of sass and sarcasm to keep you on your toes and eventually you could toss it back to him. He told be he would use me as shark bait but they probably would spit me out! I don't doubt that! Chris could have hung out with our friends and drank beers so we could hear his lifetime of stories. Maybe he would want to fish Lake Michigan some time?! We all loved asking about charters and personal best catches, hearing his stories and other trips that didn't go according to planned. He knew the waters, incredible boat handler, extremely helpful with the fish. Locations and getting them removed with a blink of an eye. He was everything you could want in a fishing Captain and more! We all had the absolute best experience and would book again with Fins and Family Fishing! They have the tours reeled in! Pun intended!

The views of the boats and the water are beautiful, and it's a fun place to watch dolphins if you're lucky. The park is clean, well maintained, and definitely worth stopping by if you're in Orange Beach.

Today is the 2nd anniversary that Hurricane Sally slammed into into Orange Beach, AL with a direct…read morehit. Most repairs have been done but things are still being put back together both for private residents and local governments. In Orange Beach, two iconic locations are still awaiting repairs from storm damage, Waterfront Park Pier and the Perdido Pass fishing wall. There's several sections of this fishing area that is fenced off due to boards missing and damaged concrete but there's still a lot of space to toss your line in the water. Here we are 2 years later and still waiting on repairs to started in earnest. I understand that an application for FEMA help with the repairs has been made, but when the "hurry up and wait" SOP of the government is in the mix it certainly add time to the process. This area was damaged years ago and basically abandoned by the state because of the prohibitive cost of having it repaired. Orange Beach stepped in and asked for permission to pay for the repairs to keep this unique and popular spot open to the public. The land is owned by the state and the city has funded the improvements but then came Sally. The boardwalk starts at the end of The Gulf restaurant area and follows the Pass all the way under and beyond the bridge to a small sandy beach. There's mounted park benches all along the stretch, except where damage is fenced off, and bait stations along the rails. It's well lit and there's plenty of free parking, including handicap. There's no running water in the area and currently there's 2 port-a-potties. The channel in and around the Perdido Pass bridge is typically busy with both recreational and commercial fishing vessels so if you're not into fishing, at this spot, it's okay because the view is spectacular. You're directly across from the Gulf State Park beach is located on the east side of The Pass and offers some beautiful stretches of white sandy beaches, with roughly 70 acres of prime real estate. So sometimes it's just nice to sit a spell :-) Perdido Pass Fishing Wall is the old local name for this area, sometimes also referred to as Seawall Park, but it now has an official designated name, and new sign, of Orange Beach Fishing Park at the Pass, cool! If you'd like an excellent video tour, pre-Sally check: https://youtu.be/jc7t0-whT40 Bottom line: Lots of boats, heron, gulls, the occasional pod of dolphins and even manatee that come through here, but fishing is the big attraction at Orange Beach Fishing Park at the Pass.

My husband began to have chest & back pains late in the day and was not sure if it was related to muscle or heart. We tried to call after 8 pm to find out about cancelling but they were closed and there was no emergency number noted. So he just took some meds and tried to sleep and thought he would still be okay to go. After a horrible night of muscle spasms and pain he knew that he needed to be seen medically this morning. We called at 5 am and left a message and then I called again at 5:45 to tell the store owner and she said to speak to Lynn at 9 am. After the doc appt and a doctor's notice for rest till Monday I went there to explain and ask for our $515 refund. Lynn had no compassion, no Hello or anything as I told her what happened. She said repeatedly that they are there to make money and she would not issue a refund or an offer of when you return back we can put you on another charter NOTHING. Just rudeness. I know there is a no-cancel policy but emergencies do arise and you should analyze on case by case situation. God forbid if my husband had gone anyways and needed emergency care on board the boat. I am sure you made plenty of money with 13 on board at $250 per person + tips. You will never get our business and we bring friends & business owners down all the time who love to fish and have plenty of money to spend. Such a shame that this is how greed has been today.
