Each plate I saw carried by was a delight to the eyes and if their meal was as tasty as mine then I can say there were a lot of happy people this day. The menu was well rounded enough to give anyone more than a few offerings and concise enough to be focused on regional specialties. The pannenkoeken (pancake) are a Dutch speciality and the reason for our visit (besides it being a lovely short bike ride away from town). Maurits Hoeve offers a few predesigned pancakes as well as a choice of fillings to build your own. Deciding on the shorwma pannenkoeken was an easy choice. The beautiful plate sized pancake with a small salad of baby greens, capers and some crunchy pickle along with a garlic sauce and a generous helping of meat made for a full meal on the sunny patio. The house wine was full bodied and dry. They offer many more tempting entrees as well as snacks and desserts that I am looking forward to trying another time. Anyone in the area would want to make the journey for this absolute gem. We'll be going back for sure.

I had taken a peek at it in the daytime, but can say that it far surpassed my expectations in atmosphere, service and cuisine when we went there for our dinner. The atmosphere is warm and cozy, but elegant. When you dine there, you feel that this is a special place. The lighting was intimate, but not to dim to make it hard to see or too bright so as to white-out the atmosphere. The furnishings and place settings we're tasteful. The food was excellent. We all had mostly different dishes, from meats, to fish, and everyone thought his or her dishes were excellent. The courses were presented beautifully and served with the right amount of attention so as to be neither intrusive nor lacking.

They serve two kinds of oyster (gotta love this place), so we had a mixture of both with a nice wine to support the flavour. We continued with lobster and a fabulous white Rioja. The cheese platter was a great third course and a great combination served with the right companions like figues, nuts, marmalade, etc and off-course a good glass of port.
